The characteristics of electric current for the voltaic cell are important for electric power applications. In this paper, an electrical equivalent model consist of three resisters and a capacitance for the Cu/NaCl solution/Zn electrochemical cell is proposed. The capacitance which exists in the Zn electrode/electrolytic interface increased according to Zn electrode area, but cannot affect almost in electric current. Complex impedance plot was used to analysis the interface effect for Zn/electrolyte. This result shows that the interface is similar with the electric transmission line. The short current measurements were conducted to investigate the effects of hydrogen peroxide, the watery sulfuric acid and NaCl aqueous solution. As the hydrogen peroxide increased, the electric current increased because the hydrogen gas being converted with the water. Also electric current increased significantly with increase of the hydrogen ion with the watery sulfuric acid and increased with increase of $Na^+$ ion and $Cl^-$ion in the NaCl electrolyte.
The whole-cell mode of the patch clamp technique was used to study $Ca^{2+}-activated\;Cl^-\;current$$(I_{Cl_{Ca}})$ in gastric antral myocytes. Extracellular application of caffeine evoked $Ca^{2+}-activated\;current$. In order to isolate the chloride current from background current, all known systems were blocked with specific blockers. The current-voltage relationship of caffeine-induced current showed outward rectification and it reversed at around $E_{Cl^-}$. The shift of reversal potential upon the alteration of external and internal chloride concentrations was well fitted with results which were calculated by the Nernst equation. Extracellular addition of N-phenylanthranilic acid and niflumic acid which are known anion channel blockers abolished the caffeine induced current. Intracellular application of a high concentration of EGTA also abolished this current. Application of c-AMP, c-GMP, heparin, or $AIF^-_4$ made no remarkable changes to this current. Sodium replacement with the impermeable cation N-methylglucamine or with $Cd^{2+}$ rarely affected this current. From the above results it is suggested that the caffeine induced current was a $Cl^-$ current and it was activated by intracellular $Ca^{2+}$.
The parameter which determines the plateau length of current-voltage curve for ion- exchange membranes was studied at various concentrations of NaCl and different flow rates. Moreover, the feasibility of the electrodialytic removal of 0.1 M NaCl solution at various current densities was tested by assessing the electrodialysis performance parameters such as salt removal efficiency, current efficiency, energy consumption and water dissociation. The diffusion boundary layer (DBL) thickness decreased with the NaCl concentration and flow rate of fled solution and it was observed that the plateau length of current-voltage curves was related with the DBL thickness. The removal efficiency and current efficiency were not affected significantly by the current densities even at the overlimiting current region indicating that most current were passed by electrolyte, and water dissociations are not responsible for the overlimiting current. Energy consumption increased when the current density supplied exceeded the limiting current density (LCD) values, because additional energy was necessary to overcome the plateau potential. Beyond the LCD values the energy consumption required to get a certain removal efficiency was not affected by the current density applied. The result suggests that it is allowed to operate electrodialysis processes at as high as possible current density unless water-splitting does not occur.
Voltage-sensitive ion channels contribute to establishment of the cell excitablity and the generation of the cellular function. At hamster oocytes in the primitive stage during developing process, an inward current elicited by voltage pulses was found to be carried mainly by $Ca^{2+}$. Even at present, $Ca^{2+}$ channels serve as the most probable route to pass this inward current but there is no evidence of the presence of this channels in eggs. To date, both the characteristic properties and the physiological role in the early stage of development remain unclear. Here we examined the characteristic properties of the inward current and changes in this currents at unfertilized oocytes, fertilized zygotes and two-cell embryos using whole-cell voltage clamp technique. The inward current carried reportedly by $Ca^{2+}$ was remained following removing external $Ca^{2+}$ but completely abolished by further replacement of impermeants such as tetramethylammonium ion ($TMA^+$) or $choline^+$ instead of $[Na^+]_0$. Tetrodotoxin did not affect on this inward current remained at $[Ca^{2+}]_0$-free condition. Removal of $Na^+$ ion out of the experimental solution clearly decreased the current. After adding 2mM $Ca^{2+}$ to the $Na^+$-free media, the inward current was restored. Interestingly, this current carried by either $Ca^{2+}$ or $Na^+$ was decreased by the reduction of intracellular $Cl^-$ concentration, or by $Cl^-$ channel blockers such as niflumic acid, DIDS and SITS. When $Cl^-$ concentration was lowered without changes in other ionic components, this inward current was reduced. At fertilized oocytes and two-cell embryos, the inward current carried by $Ca^{2+}$ and $Na^+$ was severely reduced. Also $Cl^-$ component could not be observed. From these results, the inward current is composed of $Ca^{2+}$, $Na^+$ and $Cl^-$ component, suggesting that the channel carrying this inward current is not selective specifically to $Ca^{2+}$. During early stage of development, the voltage-sensitive ion current seems not to contribute essentially to the cell cleavage and differentiation. The loss of $Cl^-$ component after fertilization suggests that $Cl^-$ may play a role in maintaining the viability of unfertilized ova.

In this paper the modeling of interrupting characteristics of a high voltage current limiting fuse to be used in a power distribution system is introduced. In order to reduce the level of energy which can be absorbed by equipment during fault current flow, a high voltage current limiting fuse can generate a high voltage at the fuse terminals. Consequently it is necessary to model and analyze precisely the voltage and current variation during a CL fuse action. The characteristics of CL fuse operation modeled by electrical components have been performed with less than 6 [$\%$] errors. So the fuse designer or manufacturer can estimate the characteristics of CL fuse operation by using this modeling. The Electro Magnetic Transient Program (EMTP) is used to develop the modeling.

The difference of mooring tension by type of buoy was investigated in the circulating water channel and the wave tank for deducting the most stable buoy from the current and the wave condition. 5 types of buoy made up of short cylinder laid vertically (CL-V), short cylinder laid horizontally (CL-H), capsule (CS), sphere (SP) and long cylinder (CL-L) were used for experiments. A mooring line and a weight were connected with each buoy. A tensile gauge was installed between a mooring line and a weight. All buoy's mooring tension was measured at the same time for the wave test with periods of 1.5~3.0 sec and wave heights of 0.1~0.3 m, and the current test with flow speeds of 0.2~1.0 m/sec. As a result, the order of tension value in the wave test was CL-H > CL-V > SP > CS > CL-L. In the current test CL-V and CL-H were recorded in the largest tension value, whereas SP has the smallest tension value. So it seems that SP buoy is the most effective in the location affected by fast current. CS is predicted to be suitable for a location that influence of wave is important more than that of current if practical use in the field is considered. And it was found that the difference of mooring tension among buoys in wave is related to the product of the cross sectional area and the drag coefficient for the buoy's bottom side in high wave height. The factor for the current condition was not found. But it was supposed to be related to complex factors like a dimension and a shape by buoy's posture to flow.
Galvanic corrosion tests of Zn/steel couples were conducted in 1 M NaCl and $1M\;MgCl_2$ solutions to investigate the impact of magnesium ion on corrosion behavior of the couples. Two types of Zn/steel couples were used for measurements of open circuit potential (OCP) and galvanic current. From the results of OCP transient of Zn/steel couples, the corrosion potential in $1M\;MgCl_2$ was a more positive value than that in 1 M NaCl during the sacrificial dissolution of Zn. However, earlier increase of OCP of the couples in $1M\;MgCl_2$ solution indicates that the sacrificial dissolution rate of Zn in $1M\;MgCl_2$ was enhanced more than that in 1 M NaCl, agreeing with the results on transients of galvanic current. This result is due to that cathodic reaction on the steel surface of the Zn/steel couple was enhanced in $1M\;MgCl_2$ by the occurrence of hydrogen evolution reaction.

Organic removal from synthetic wastewater by electrochemical methods was investigated with various operating parameters, such as current density, retention time, electrode gap and $Cl^-/COD_{Cr}$ ratio. In electrolysis, dioxide iridium coated titanium ($IrO_2/Ti$) and stainless steel plate were used for anode and cathode respectively. The $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiencies between plate type anode and net type anode were about same effect, but electrolytic power using net type anode is low than plate type anode. The $Cl^-/COD_{Cr}$ ratio was about $1.3kgCl^-/kgCOD_{Cr}$ when organic removal obtained 70 %, $Cl^-/COD_{Cr}$ ratio needs $2.2kgCl^-/kgCOD_{Cr}$ so as to organic completely remove. The removal efficiency of organics increased with current density, retention time and $Cl^-/COD_{Cr}$ ratio, but decreased with increasing electrode gap. The relationship of operating conditions and $COD_{Cr}$ removal efficiencies are as follows. $$COD_{Cr}(%)=80.0360(Current\;density)^{0.4451}{\times}(HRT)^{0.8102}{\times}(Gap)^{-0.4915}{\times}(Cl^-/COD_{Cr})^{0.5805}$$ There existed a competition between the removals for $COD_{Cr}$ and ammonium during electrolysis, the removal of ammonium was shown to be dominant and $COD_{Cr}$ removal was low. But $COD_{Cr}$ removal was raised as addition of alkalinity.

We previously demonstrated the ability of ginseng saponins (active ingredients of Panax ginseng) to enhance $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current. The mechanism for this ginseng saponin-induced enhancement was proposed to be the release of $Ca^{2+}$ from $IP_{3}-sensitive$ intracellular stores through the activation of PTX-insensitive $G\alpha_{q/11}$ proteins and PLC pathway. Recent studies have shown that calmodulin (CaM) regulates $IP_{3}$ receptor-mediated $Ca^{2+}$ release in both $Ca^{2+}-dependent$ and -independent manner. In the present study, we have investigated the effects of CaM on ginseng saponin-induced $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current responses in Xenopus oocytes. Intraoocyte injection of CaM inhibited ginseng saponin-induced $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current enhancement, whereas co-injection of calmidazolium, a CaM antagonist, with CaM blocked CaM action. The inhibitory effect of CaM on ginseng saponin-induced $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current enhancement was dose- and time-dependent, with an $IC_{50} of 14.9\pm3.5 {\mu}M$. The inhibitory effect of CaM on saponin's activity was maximal after 6 h of intraoocyte injection of CaM, and after 48 h the activity of saponin recovered to control level. The half-recovery time was calculated to be $16.7\pm4.3 h$. Intraoocyte injection of CaM inhibited $Ca^{2+}$-induced $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current enhancement and also attenuated $IP_{3}$-induced $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current enhancement. $Ca^{2+}$/CaM kinase II inhibitor did not inhibit CaM-caused attenuation of ginseng saponin-induced $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current enhancement. These results suggest that CaM regulates ginseng saponin effect on $Ca^{2+}$-activated $Cl^{-}$ current enhancement via $Ca^{2+}$-independent manner.

This paper was studied on the crevice corrosion behavior of SS 400 in marine environment. In 0%, 2%, 3.5%, 5% NaCl solution, the aspect of the crevice corrosion and polarization behavior under the crevice corrosion was investigated. And Weight loss rate of SS 400 with crevice and non-crevice was measured according to the NaCl concentration. The main results obtained are as follows : 1) Under crevice corrosion, the corrosion potential become less noble as the concentration of NaCl solution increased. 2) The current density under open circuit potential was high drained as concentration of NaCl solution increased by 3.5% but the concentration increased over 3.5%, the current density was low drained. 3) The weight loss rate of SS400 was increased as concentration of NaCl solution increased by 3.5% but the concentration increased over 3.5%, that of SS400 was decreased.
