In this study, several properties of mortars made with calcium aluminate cement (CAC) such as hydrated products, strength characteristics, absorption, surface electric resistivity and chloride ions penetration resistance were experimentally investigated. The properties of CAC mortars were compared to those of ordinary portland cement (OPC) mortars. From the test results, it was found that the main hydrated products for CAC mortars were of $C_2AH_8$ and $CAH_{10}$, while CH, ettringite and calcite for OPC mortars. The surface electric resistivity and chloride ions penetration resistance of CAC mortars were significantly beneficial compared to those of OPC mortars. However, it should be noted that the absorption properties of CAC mortars were negatively examined. Thus, it needs to have more study for the improvement of surface absorption of CAC matrices. In addition, the combined mixture of CAC and OPC were ineffective to improve some performances of mortars.

This study was conducted to investigate the solubility, antioxidative and antimicrobial activity of the freeze dried chitosan-ascorbate (CAs) and chitosan-acetate (CAc). In the results of solubility, CAs was soluble over 0.5% in distilled water, vinegar, green tea, soju (distilled liquor), beer and red wine, while it was not soluble in soy sauce, soy milk, milk, orange juice, coffee, sesame oil, soy milk and soybean oil. The solubility of CAc in the liquid foods was similar to those of CAs, but it was soluble less than 0.1% in beer, and formed curd in red wine. Electron donating activity, antioxidative activity and SOD activity of CAs were 48.2, 90.6 and 67.5%, respectively, while the activities of the CAc were 0, 40.0 and 10.0%, respectively. The minimal inhibitory concentrations of CAs and CAc were $200\;{\mu}g/disc$ against Bacillus circulans, Bacillus brevis, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus arabitane and Bacillus sterothermophillus, $400\;{\mu}g/disc$ against Escherichia coli O157, Listeria monocytogenous, Bacillus cereus and Bacillus subtilis. There was no significant difference in Hunter's L* value between CAs and CAc $(81.95{\sim}82.97)$, but Hunter's a* and b* values of the CAs was higher than those of CAc. While sour and bitter tastes of CAs were lower than those of CAc, there was no significant difference in astringent taste. From these results, it suggested that CAs has more extensive utility in liquid foods with antimicrobial and antioxidant activity as well as sensory quality compared to CAc.
The biogenic corrosion of mortars adopted in sewage repair by sulfuric acid-producing bacteria was considered in this paper. Calcium aluminate cement (CAC) was known to resist microbiologically-induced corrosion significantly better than portland and blended portland cement. In this study, CAC as well portland cement mortars were tested as main binder to evaluate the corrosion resistance by the chemical immersion test. Replacement ratios of CAC were changed as 0, 20, 40, 50, 60% of OPC binder and 0, 2, 4, 6% of EVA(Ethylene Vinyl Acetate) were also adopted to increase properties of CAC repair mortars in sewage application. Setting time, compressive strength, acid resistance and adhesive strength were measured for various experiments. As a results of the experiments, the proper formulation of repair mortars was found at 40% of CAC and 4% of EVA. Finally, the CAC mortars adopted in field sewer pipe and were demonstrated to superior in adhesion and workability.

In this study, the durability of ultra rapid hardening mortar for sewage pipe was evaluated by type of mortar binder. As a result of analyzing the internal structure for each type of mortar, it was confirmed that Al2(OH)3 was generated in the internal structure of the CAC-based mortar, and its corrosion resistance was superior to that of other types of mortar. As a result of the compressive strength test, OPC had the tsmallest strength, followed by CAC100 > CAC100P > CAC80. This trend was similar to the previous study results. Chloride ion penetration resistance and freeze-thaw test showed similar trends. That is, CAC and C12A7 were better than OPC, and CSA was worse than OPC. This is mostly beacuse of cracks caused by expansion of CSA-based mortar. CAC100P mix showed the best chemical resistance. It is thought that this is because the alumina gel formed inside the mortar and the polymer combine to make the internal structure more dense.

The present study concerns the resistance of calcium aluminate cement (CAC) to steel corrosion. The corrosion behavior of steel, chloride binding/buffering and chloride transport were evaluated in order to predict the risk of steel corrosion. The CAC mortar exhibited no corrosion on steel, irrespective of the curing temperature and CAC types, whereas ordinary Portland cement (OPC) showed a severe corrosion on the steel surface. The chloride binding capacity of CAC found to be was lower than that of OPC, yet buffering capacity against pH decrease was found to be significantly higher in the CAC paste. Furthermore, chloride ingress at all depths was found to be reduced in CAC, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion.

Recently, application case of the ultra rapid hardening concrete-polymer composite(URHCPC) are increasing to repair for the deterioration of pavement. But it is a major disadvantage that the main material is expensive and has environmental load. For these reasons, the development of the economic, eco-friendly materials is needed. Calcium Aluminate Composite (CAC), produced by rapid cooling of atomizing method with molten ladle furnace slag, is a material capable of improving the economic feasibility and reducing the environmental load of URHCPC. In this paper, the properties of CAC and gypsum mixed CAC (GC) as alternative materials of RSC according to the types of polymer dispersion were studied. The results were as follows; compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, bonding strength and modulus of elasticity of the composites using CAC or GC showed higher values than those of plain proportion in 3 hour. In later age, they were at the same level as the general proportions. URHCPC using BPD as polymer dispersion had superior strength properties generally. But modulus of elasticity was the same level as the case of using a SBR latex. According to these results, CAC or GC can partially substituted for RSC to product the URHCPC. When URHCPC uses the BPD as the polymer dispersion, it can be improved performance.

Objective: This study aimed to validate a deep learning-based fully automatic calcium scoring (coronary artery calcium [CAC]_auto) system using previously published cardiac computed tomography (CT) cohort data with the manually segmented coronary calcium scoring (CAC_hand) system as the reference standard. Materials and Methods: We developed the CAC_auto system using 100 co-registered, non-enhanced and contrast-enhanced CT scans. For the validation of the CAC_auto system, three previously published CT cohorts (n = 2985) were chosen to represent different clinical scenarios (i.e., 2647 asymptomatic, 220 symptomatic, 118 valve disease) and four CT models. The performance of the CAC_auto system in detecting coronary calcium was determined. The reliability of the system in measuring the Agatston score as compared with CAC_hand was also evaluated per vessel and per patient using intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) and Bland-Altman analysis. The agreement between CAC_auto and CAC_hand based on the cardiovascular risk stratification categories (Agatston score: 0, 1-10, 11-100, 101-400, > 400) was evaluated. Results: In 2985 patients, 6218 coronary calcium lesions were identified using CAC_hand. The per-lesion sensitivity and false-positive rate of the CAC_auto system in detecting coronary calcium were 93.3% (5800 of 6218) and 0.11 false-positive lesions per patient, respectively. The CAC_auto system, in measuring the Agatston score, yielded ICCs of 0.99 for all the vessels (left main 0.91, left anterior descending 0.99, left circumflex 0.96, right coronary 0.99). The limits of agreement between CAC_auto and CAC_hand were 1.6 ± 52.2. The linearly weighted kappa value for the Agatston score categorization was 0.94. The main causes of false-positive results were image noise (29.1%, 97/333 lesions), aortic wall calcification (25.5%, 85/333 lesions), and pericardial calcification (24.3%, 81/333 lesions). Conclusion: The atlas-based CAC_auto empowered by deep learning provided accurate calcium score measurement as compared with manual method and risk category classification, which could potentially streamline CAC imaging workflows.

Objective: The purpose of this meta-analysis was to investigate the pooled agreements of the coronary artery calcium (CAC) severities assessed by electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated and non-ECG-gated CT and evaluate the impact of the scan parameters. Materials and Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane library were systematically searched. A modified Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 tool was used to evaluate the quality of the studies. Meta-analytic methods were utilized to determine the pooled weighted bias, limits of agreement (LOA), and the correlation coefficient of the CAC scores or the weighted kappa for the categorization of the CAC severities detected by the two modalities. The heterogeneity among the studies was also assessed. Subgroup analyses were performed based on factors that could affect the measurement of the CAC score and severity: slice thickness, reconstruction kernel, and radiation dose for non-ECG-gated CT. Results: A total of 4000 patients from 16 studies were included. The pooled bias was 62.60, 95% LOA were -36.19 to 161.40, and the pooled correlation coefficient was 0.94 (95% confidence interval [CI] = 0.89-0.97) for the CAC score. The pooled weighted kappa of the CAC severity was 0.85 (95% CI = 0.79-0.91). Heterogeneity was observed in the studies (I2 > 50%, p < 0.1). In the subgroup analysis, the agreement between the CAC categorizations was better when the two CT examinations had reconstructions based on the same slice thickness and kernel. Conclusion: The pooled agreement of the CAC severities assessed by the ECG-gated and non-ECG-gated CT was excellent; however, it was significantly affected by scan parameters, such as slice thickness and the reconstruction kernel.
This study aims at analysing the export competitiveness of the six largest countries which have the highest market share in world automobile market, namely Japan, USA, China, Germany, South Korea and France for the last seven years between 2000 and 2006 in Chinese automobile market by using revealed comparative advantage index(RCA), comparative advantage index by country (CAC) and exporting similarity index(ESI). On analysis of the RCA index, it showed that the export competitiveness of Korean automobile in the world market was high following Japan and Germany, but it ranked the lowest competitiveness among the six trade competitors in Chinese automobile market. In other side, it is also made sure that the formidable competitors of Korean automobile export in global market are Germany and Japan. Therefore, South Korea needs to raise its ability to adjust to improvement of the international competitiveness in exports through close cooperation between government and automobile export enterprise and consistent monitoring about Chinese automobile industry and market.
Background: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship of pulmonary function impairment (PFI) and coronary artery calcification (CAC) by multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT), and the effect of pneumoconiosis on CAC or PFI. Methods: Seventy-six subjects exposed to inorganic dusts underwent coronary artery calcium scoring by MDCT, spirometry, laboratory tests, and a standardized questionnaire. CAC was quantified using a commercial software (Rapidia ver. 2.8), and all the subjects were divided into two categories according to total calcium scores (TCSs), either the non-calcified (<1) or the calcified (${\geq}1$) group. Obstructive pulmonary function impairment (OPFI) was defined as forced expiratory volume in one second/forced vital capacity ($FEV_1$/FVC, %)<70, and as $FEV_1$/FVC (%){\geq}70 and FVC<80 for restrictive pulmonary function impairment (RPFI) by spirometry. All subjects were classified as either the case (profusion${\geq}1/0$) or the control (profusion${\leq}0/1$) group by pneumoconiosis findings on simple digital radiograph. Results: Of the 76 subjects, 35 subjects (46.1%) had a CAC. Age and hypertension were different significantly between the non-calcified and the calcified group (p<0.05). Subjects with pneumoconiosis were more frequent in the calcified group than those in the non-calcified group (p=0.099). $FEV_1$/FVC (%) was significantly correlated with TCSs (r=-0.316, p=0.005). Subjects with OPFI tended to increase significantly with increasing of TCS (4.82, p=0.028), but not significantly in RPFI (2.18, p=0.140). Subjects with OPFI were significantly increased in the case group compared to those in the control group. Conclusion: CAC is significantly correlated with OPFI, and CAC and OPFI may be affected by pneumoconiosis findings.
