Effect of Residual Chloride Ion on Thermal Decomposition Behaviour os Stannic Acid and Physical Properties of $SnO_2$ Powder Fabricated for Gas Sensor (가스센서용 $SnO_2$분말 제조시 잔류 염소이온이 Sn수화물의 열분해거동 및 분말물성에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of residual chloride on thermal decomposition behaviour of a-stannic acid and physical properties of $SnO_{2}$ powder were observed. The powder was fabricated by hydroxide method; $\alpha$-stannic acid was precipitated by mixing acqueous solutions of $SnCl_{4}$ and $NH_{4}$OH . The precipitate was washed with $NH_{4}NO_{3}$ solution while washing was controlled to be of three grades to modify its residual chloride content. The precipitate was dried at $1100^{\circ}C$ ~ 24h and calcined in air at $500^{\circ}C$ ~ $1100^{\circ}C$ for one hour. Thermal decomposition behaviour of $\alpha$-stannic acid was examined by a DT-TGA and a FTIR. Chemical composition and physical properties of $SnO_{2}$ powder were observed by an AES, a BET and a TEM, respectively. With a reduction in chloride content, the relative crystallite size of $SnO_{2}$ powder slightly increased by a low-temperature-calcining. However, at a high calcining temperature(T), the reverse relation occured. It was suggested that chloride ion replaces part of lattice oxygen site of a-stannic acid. Also, chloride ion on the site was suggested to retard de-hydration as well as crystalization at a low T while to promote crystal growth of $SnO_{2}$ by forming oxygen vacancy at a high T.

  • In this paper, we develop a new system to visualize the blood flow map in skin tissue, using the technique of Laser Speckle Flowgraphy (LSFG). The measuring unit consists of the laser diode, imaging system, line sensor, scanning mirror, and one-board microcomputer. The speckle signal is analyzed and sent to a PC, where the blood flow in a tissue area of $14mm{\times}26 mm$ is evaluated and displayed in a 2-D color map. It is demonstrated that the new LSFG instrument is useful to evaluate the degree of allergic reaction in patch test.

  • The paper shows a result for development of BLDC motor drive by using a resolver as position detection sensor. The developed drive use a method detecting rotor position based on HSI interrupt function of microprocessor without a specialized counting circuit. The algorithm generating three-phase PWM wave to change switching voltage and current is realized based on single chip microprocessor. The PWM generating part and position counting circuit are realized by software technique without usage of conventional analogue circuit or object-oriented chips. So the drive system become compact. The effectiveness of the developed drive is verified by experimented results of speed response for step reference input.

High-Resolution Interrogation Technique for Fiber Bragg crating Sensor Using Long-Period Fiber Grating Pair and Erbium-Doped fiber

  • A novel interrogation scheme to detect fine Bragg wavelength shift using a long period fiber grating pair with erbium-doped fiber inserted between the two gratings is reported. The technique is shown to feature high resolution and much more immunity to temperature perturbation compared to the conventioned Mach-Zehnder interferometer demodulation system. For quasi-static strain measurement, this approach provides high wavelength resolution of 0.05 pm that corresponds to 41.7 ne in strain and $3.8 $\times$ 10^{-3}$$^{\circ}C$ in temperature. This interrogation system is also employed in dynamic measurement to obtain the minimum detectable strain perturbation of ~ 8.76 ne/H $z^{{\frac}{1}{2}}$ at 100 Hz. Moreover, this interrogation system has prominent thermal stability. This thermal stability comes from the fact that two arms of the interferometer, the core and cladding in erbium-doped fiber, are exposed to nearly the same environment .

  • In this study, the effects of the power transmission units on the rotational accuracy are investigated experimentally in a hydrostatic spindle. The effects of warm up time, unbalancing and the position of measuring sensor are pre-examined for the determination of measuring conditions. The misalignment of the power transmission units and the vibration excited by the fluctuation of belt are considered as the dominant parameters of error motion. The variation and scatter of run out at the range of 0 to 3,000rpm in rotational speed are appropriated for the camparison of availabilities of the transmission units to precision spin- dles.

  • To develop a device for measuring fish freshness which could be move accurate and reliable than used freshness measuring systems. A new device based on digital circuit was designed using a microcomputer. The device was composed of a sensor part, 8096 microprocessor and a segment display. The effectiveness of device has been evaluated by the coefficient of correlation among the measured freshness stores such as electrical Q-value, K-value and amount of volatile basic nitrogen (VBN) of plaice, Paralichthys Olivaceus, during storage at $-3^{\circ}C,\;0^{\circ}C,\;5^{\circ}C,\;10^{\circ}C,\;and\;25^{\circ}C$. Q-values measured by a new device were more closely correlated with K-value (r=-0.978-\;-0.962,\;p<0.05) and VBN (r=-0.888-\;-0.988,\;p<0.05) in case of plaice meat. If more data would achieve using various fishes, this new designed device could be a valuable kit in fish market by its compact portability.

  • The multilayer structure of glass/Ta(5.8 nm)/NiFe(5 nm)/Cu(t nm)/NiFe(3 nm)/FeMn(12 nm)/Ta(5.8 nm) as typical GMR-SV (giant magnetoresistance-spin valve) films is prepared by ion beam sputtering deposition (IBD). The coercivity and magnetoresiatance ratio are increased and decreased for the decrease of Cu thickness when the thickness of nonmagnetic Cu layer from is varied 2.2 nm to 3.0 nm. It means that the decrease of non-magntic layer is effected to the interlayer exchange coupling of pinned layer and the spin configuration array of free layer. For experiment of detecting and dropping of magnetic beads we used the GMR-SV sensor with glass/Ta/NiFe/Cu/NiFe/FeMn/Ta structure. From the comparison of before and after for the dropping status of magnetic bead, the variations of MR ratio, $H_{ex}$, and $H_c$ are showed 0.9 %, 3 Oe, and 2 Oe, respectively. The fabrication of GMR-SV sensor was included in the process of film deposition, photo-lithography, ion milling, and MR measurement. Further, GMR-SV device can be easily integrated so that detecting biosensor on a single chip becomes possible.

  • The thin-film eletroluminescent (TFEL) device having the stacked structure of ZnS:Mn/$ZnS:TbF_{3}$ has been fabricated. Insulate layers used (Pb,La)$TiO_{3}$ and $SiO_{2}$ thin films. The emission color was white. The TFEL device employing ZnS:Mn/$ZnS:TbF_{3}(8000{\AA})$ stacked phosphor layers showed the threshold voltage of $78V_{rms}$. And the brightness of the TFEL device was $400{\mu}W/cm^{2}$ at the applied voltage of $100V_{rms}$. The emission spectrum of TFEL device had a wavelength from 450nm to 620nm. The manufactured devices can be a practical use as a TFEL devices of red, green and blue by using the color filters.

  • 현재 상용화되어 있는 온실 환경제어시스템의 S/W 및 H/W는 서로 호환이 되지 않아 농민들이 원하는 맞춤형 복합 환경 제어시스템을 운영하는데 어려움이 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 다양한 제어알고리즘 및 장비를 적용시킬 수 있는 호환성이 향상된 온실 환경 제어인터페이스 모듈 성능평가를 목표로 한다. 센서 및 제어 인터페이스 모듈 성능평가를 위해 사용된 제어 시스템은 8 bit MCU가 적용된 전용 개발보드를 사용하였고, RS-232 통신 케이블을 사용하여 온실 환경 측정 데이터 값을 PC에서 수신할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, 창개폐기, 환풍기를 사용하여 온실 내부 온/습도 환경조성을 하였다. 실험은 정오부터 제어장비를 작동시킨 후 1시간 간격으로 총 3시간 동안의 온실 내 온/습도의 변화량을 계측하였다. 3시간 중 1시간동안의 온/습도 값의 변화량을 계측한 결과 평균값은 각각 $33.21^{\circ}C$, 34.94%이었고 표준편차는 각각 $1.44^{\circ}C$, 2.74% 이었다. 제어 알고리즘은 단순한 ON/OFF 방법을 사용 하였고 총 2가지 제어장비를 사용하였으며 모두 정상 작동 하였다. 1시간동안 온실의 온도는 $30^{\circ}C{\sim}35^{\circ}C$사이를 유지하였으며, 습도는 30%~ 40% 사이로 최초 실험 목표였던 온실 내부의 온/습도 범위를 유지하였다. 이번 실험은 ON/OFF 방법의 제어 알고리즘을 사용하였지만 더욱 정밀한 온실 환경제어를 위하여 PID, 퍼지 제어 알고리즘을 추가하여 기상환경에 따른 제어범위를 더욱 세밀화 할 수 있도록 설계한다면 제어장비에 대한 효율성이 향상될 것이라 기대한다.

Structure and Electrical Properties of 0.85NaNbO3-0.15LiNbO3 Ceramics (0.85NaNbO3-0.15LiNbO3 세라믹스의 구조 및 전기적 특성)

  • Structure and electrical properties of $0.85NaNbO_3-0.15LiNbO_3$ ($(Li_{0.15}Na_{0.85})NbO_3$) ceramics were investigated as a function of sintering temperature. $(Li_{0.15}Na_{0.85})NbO_3$ ceramics were prepared by conventional solid state processing. A main phase of the orthorhombic perovskite structure and secondary phase of $LiNbO_3$ were confirmed for all sintered specimens. Dense $(Li_{0.15}Na_{0.85})NbO_3$ ceramics were obtained at sintering temperature above $1050^{\circ}C$. With increasing sintering temperature, the electromechanical coupling factor ($k_p$), piezoelectric constant ($d_{33}$) and relative dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}_r$) of the sintered specimens increased, while the mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$) decreased. These results are due to the increase of grain size and crystallite size of orthorhombic perovskite structure. Based on the temperature dependence of ${\varepsilon}_r$, stable piezoelectric properties were expected because no phase transition found up to $300^{\circ}C$. Typically, kp of 18%, $d_{33}$ of 34.7 pC/N, ${\varepsilon}_r$ of 135, and $Q_m$ of 62.8 were obtained for the specimens sintered at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 5 h.
