  • Recently the pelionnance of CO2 arc welding machine has been advanced significantly through the adoption of i invelter circuit topology. which made it possible to improve welding perfonnances such as spatter generation and bead s state. But the conventional inverter arc welding machine generates constant output voltage which cause much spatter g generation dUling short-circuit and arc start time because it is unable to control output current instantaneously. So this p paper representes wavefCnm controlled inverter arc welding machine which control the wavefonn of welding current and t thus to suppress the spatter generation. And the system designed in this paper is the digital controller using single chip m microprocessor of 80C196KC. As a result of perfonnance test for this system, the spatter generation is reduced and s shOlt-circuit time period is stabilized compared to conventional one. And more by using switched mode rectifier for A AC/DC power convelter. unity power factor is maintained and low order halmonic spectrum is supressed.

  • The recent research topics on $CO_2$ arc welding power supplies are focused mainly on the reduction of spatter generation. The method for reducing the spatters can be approached in several ways: finding the new materials fur consumable electrode and shielding gases, researching on the circuit topology and the controller. In this paper, the metal transfer and several control methods for the $CO_2$ GMAW were described. And it was proposed and compared with other schemes that the control method for reducing spatter by controlling the welding current when short-circuit and re-ignition.

  • In a $CO_2$ inverter welding machine, stable arcs can be generated and a welding performance that is a goal of welding can be improved when stable electric power with a low voltage and a high current is supplied to a electrode that is the secondary part (output load terminal) and the base metal. For such a stable power supply, therefore, the AC arc welding machine, the thyristor welder, and the inverter welder have been developed in order according to development of the power electronics techniques. Up to now, the thyristor welding machine is still broadly used but the application volume is gradually reduced by development of the inverter welder. Because the welding performance of the inverter welder is very good and the weight and size of the welder is remarkably light and small. The final goal of this research is to develop the voltage loss compensator that is a drawback of the inverter welder and improve the welding performance using the developed compensator.

  • GMA용접은 높은 생산성과 자동화 효율로 널리 사용되고 있다. 그러나 종래의 인버터 용접기는 스패터 발생이 높고 고속용접이 어려운 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해 와이어 송급 전후진을 가능하게 하는 장치를 개발하였고 개발된 장치를 H사의 펄스용접기에 장착하여 기계적 제어(와이어 전후진 고속 송급제어)를 통해 저스패터와 고속 용접이 가능한 기계적 전류파형을 개발하였다. 스패터는 단락과 아크발생시에 높은 전류로 인해 발생되기 때문에 기계적 제어를 통하여 Fig. 1에 보는 바와 같이 낮은 전류에서 단락과 아크발생이 일어나 스패터 발생이 줄어들게 되고 기계적 제어를 통해 단락과 아크발생 주기가 일정하게 되어 아크의 안정성 및 고속용접에 유리하게 된다. 개발된 기계적 파형을 이용하여 가장 스패터 발생이 많은 재료인 스틸과 $CO_2$를 보호가스로 하여 용접전류와 용접 속도를 변화시키며 실험한 결과 저스패터 및 1.5m/min이상의 용접 속도에서 안정된 비드를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • Gas metal arc welding(GMAW) uses a continuously fed electrode as a filler metal. The arc is shielded from atmospheric contamination by an inert gas active or inert/active gas mixture delivered through the welding gun and cable assembly. The recent research topics on $CO_2$ are welding machines are focused mainly on the reduction method of generated spatter by using new type consumable electrode metal or inverter control method. The various current waveform control methods have been researched for welding performance improvement. Until now current waveform control methods reduce to spatter occurred by instantaneous short circuiting,. but these methods is drawback that no reduce spatter occurred by arc reignition. In this paper the previous arc reignition current control method for welding performance improvement of inverter arc welding machine is studied and compared the various current control methods with the previous arc reignition current control method.

  • There are many types of seam tracking methods actually used in industrial spot. Lately, Non-contact sensor technics are mostly used because non-contact sensor has more advantage than contact sensor in many parts. This paper also concerned about fiber sensor a kind of non-contact sensor. X-Y robot and fiber sensor scan the seam tracking to be weld. After scanning, X-Y robot moves the first working point of being scanned and welding starts automatically. It makes an experiment on some types of Seam tracking like straight line tracking, leaned line tracking and curved line tracking to confirm how well the fibers sensor tracks the seam pass to be weld. And the seam pass that had been tracked was welded by inverter $CO_2$ voiding machine.

  • The conventional $CO_2$ inverter arc machine has constant voltage output characteristic and uses constant wire speed controller for welding current control. By adoption of PWM inverter to the welding machine, the spattering was reduced rather than the thyrister arc welding machine or AC arc welding machine. Moreover, by the high switching frequency, the output reactor size could be reduced evidently. Recently, the studies on optimal voltage and current waveform for the welding performance improvement have been studied. In this paper, a new instantaneous output current control scheme during the short circuit mode was proposed and showed the capability of arc stability improvement and the reduction of spatter generation.
