Thank you for inviting me as a guest speaker to this 30th anniversary of the Pharmaceutical Society of Korea. I take it as a compliment to may firm F. Hoffmann-La Roche and Co., Which, has not only dicovered and introduced the benzodiazepines, but has since then been continually in the fore-front of this research. As may subject is going to be "Current Trends in Benzodiazepine Research" I will try to have a look into pending problems. The history of the benzodiazepines has been told several times (e. g. Sternbach, Haefely).

Vacuum tubes are electron tubes in which the motion of electrons are utilized. There are many kinds of vacuum tubes, e.g. diode tubes, triode tubes, pentodes. muti-tubes and etc. Generally accommodated in glass tube, its eletrodes can be seen easily from outside and it easy to understand. In 1884 Edison discovered a current flow in the vacuum tube. He could not, however, explain this phenomenon. This is called Edison effect. In 1904 Fleming developed the backup for the practical diode theory. The most important milestone in this early history of electronics came in 1906 when De Forest put a third electrode (a grid) into the above, and thus invented the triode tube. It is 90 years since the triode was invented by De Forest (as of 1996) and 100 years (centennial also as of 1996) since the specific electric change e/mo$_0$ ≒ 1.7589 ${\times}$ 1011 (C/kg) was confirmed by the English scientist Thomson in 1896. On the occasion of the 90th and 100th anniversary of these inventions and discovery, E would like to describe the rise and 1111 of the vacuum tubes and the current status of these tubes.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual conditions of current shroud. People began preparing their shroud after their 60th birthday anniversary. To keep the prepared shroud unharmed mothballs leaf tobacco and kungkungi were placed inside. The size was larger than everyday clothes. The size of the men's shroud was 390 Ch'ok and that of the women's shroud was 330 Ch'ok in formal funeral ceremonies. But size would be determined by the person's standard of living or economic situation. According to the proposed size of shroud illustrated in table 10 and the size was 5 to 30cm larger than every-day clothes. The shape of the shroud was various that Ryomp'o represented by the cross and so on.

As a part of the commemorative joint faunal survey for the 30th anniversary of the Korean Society of Systematic Zoology, the molluscan fauna of Jindo Island was investigated based on sample collection from 6 localities from the 6 to the 8 of Jul 2016. A total of 114 molluscan species from 47 families were collected and identified. Among these, 42 species from 11 families are newly reported from Jindo Island and combining the previous records with the present study totals 157 species from 57 families. Distribution of species records indicates that marine biogeography of Jindo Island represent an overlapping zone for marine organisms which dwell in the Yellow sea and the southern sea areas of Korean waters.

This year(2012) marks the 30th anniversary of the Malvinas (Falkland) war. A series of talks between the British and Argentina took place over 30 years until 1982, but failed to reach a conclusion on sovereignty. Argentina claims that sovereignty of the islands was transferred to Argentina from Spain upon independence, a principle known as uti possidetis juris. But UK claims that the principle of uti possidetis juris is not accepted as a general principal of international law, and UN General Assembly resolutions calling for negotiations are flawed because they make no reference to the islanders' right to choose their own future. In this situation, a huge amount of petroleum and natural gas has discovered near the Malvinas islands. To explore such situation, this article looks into history and present condition on dispute of Malvinas sovereignty, and also analyses de-colonialism and resource nationalism related to dispute of Malvinas sovereignty.

China and Korea are good neighbors and partners. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, the two countries have made promising achievements in political, economic, and humanistic exchanges for over three decades. In particular, bilateral economic and trade relations have yielded fruitful results, attracting worldwide attention. There are also unavoidable issues in the rapid development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation. And it is of great significance to look back on the past and look forward to the future on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the Korea. With the upgrading of China's industrial structure and technological level, the bilateral trade relationship has gradually shifted from a complementary one to a competitive one. It is essential that both countries keep in mind the mutually beneficial nature of their relationship and make due contribution to the development of the Northeast Asian region and the world economy.

We surveyed the freshwater invertebrates of Jindo Island twice on July and September 2016, as part of a joint faunal survey conducted to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Korean Society of Systematic Zoology. Aquatic insects were not included in this study. We found 38 freshwater species from seven phyla: Porifera, Platyhelminthes, Nematomorpha, Mollusca, Annelida, Arthropoda, and Bryozoa. Twenty-one of the 38 species (55.3%) represented the first record of their respective species on Jindo Island. Among these species, a freshwater shrimp-parasitic isopod, Tachaea n. sp., was identified as a new species.

In Vol. 31, No. 1, our journal prepared four review articles and two original papers. First, in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of our journal, the first review article described the history, development, and recent efforts for the qualitative improvement of the journal. For aviation workers, dizziness is an important disease that can interfere with their work. So, in the second review, we introduced guidelines that aviation medical examiners should be aware of in evaluating aviation workers who complain of dizziness. In the era of coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19) pandemic, it is very important for aviation workers to get the vaccination safely and return to their work. So, Kwon introduced the latest updated guidelines for vaccination for aviation workers. In addition, Kim described the relationship between COVID-19 infection and respiratory allergic disease, and appropriate treatment guidelines. Lim investigated the recent trend of human papillomavirus vaccination for foreigners during the COVID-19 period, and investigated its implications. Finally, Ra developed various programs to strengthen students' global competencies and analyzed their satisfaction.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the first inscription of 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites in 1978. Based on an overview of the implementation of the 'Convention Concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage', this article examines the current issues of the inscription of cultural heritage over the past 40 years. In particular, this paper focuses on the case study of 'Sacred Island of Okinoshima and Munakata Region' nominated by Japan, which was inscribed on the World Heritage List at the 41st World Heritage Committee in 2017. Also, it demonstrates the recent trend and investigates the issues of imbalances in the evaluation and the decisions among relevant actors in the nomination process of World Heritage. Furthermore, this article attempts to derive feasible implications and lessons, and to generate heritage discourse by examining Japan's management in 'heritage diplomacy' of the World Heritage Convention, which is rapidly changing in the course of its nearly half a century of implementation. In conclusion, the research is expected to provide Korea with strategic guidance marking the 30th anniversary of its entry into the Convention, and to steer the future direction for the inscription and conservation of cultural heritage.
