Korean High School Student's Perceptions of Sexual Harassment: The Effects of Victim's Clothing, Behavior, and Respondent's Gender

  • This study investigates Korean high school student's perception of sexual harassment and relative effects of victim's clothing, dating behavior and respondent's gender on perceptions of alleged sexual harassment cases. A quasi-experimental method was applied using a $2{\times}2{\times}2$ between-subjects factorial design that manipulated three variables (clothing exposure, dating behavior, and gender). Questionnaires were distributed to a convenience sample of 540 high school students and 530 questionnaires were used for the data analysis. The results indicate that the victim's clothing and dating behavior had a significant main effect on the responsibility for sexual harassment. The respondent put less responsibility on the assailant when the victim wore revealing clothing and when her dating behavior was provocative. The significant interaction effect between the respondents' gender and the victim's dating behavior indicated that when the victim's behavior was provocative, female respondents held more responsible to victim than male respondents did. The results also indicate that victim's clothing, dating behavior, and respondent's gender had significant main effect on the justification of sexual harassment. The respondents indicated that assailant's behavior is unjustifiable; however, when victim more revealing clothing, they indicated that the behavior is more justifiable.

Effects of Dietary Nutrient Content, Feeding Period, and Feed Allowance on Juvenile Olive Flounder Paralichthys olivaceus at Different Feeding Period and Ration

  • We examined the effects of dietary nutrient content, feeding period, and feed allowance on compensatory growth, food use, chemical composition, and serum chemistry of juvenile olive flounder Paralichthys olivaceus. We placed 720 juvenile fish into 24 400-L flow-through round tanks (30 fish per tank).A $2{\time}2{\time}2$ factorial design (diet: control (C) and high protein and lipid (HPL) ${\time}$ feeding period: 8 and 6 weeks ${\time}$ feed allowance: 100% and 90% of satiation) was applied. Fish were hand-fed twice daily, based on the designated feeding schedule. Weight gain and food consumption were affected by both the feeding period and feed allowance, but not by diet. The food efficiency ratio was not affected by diet, feeding period, or feed allowance, but the protein efficiency ratio and protein retention were affected by diet and feeding period, respectively. We found that the full compensatory growth of fish was not achieved at a restricted feeding allowance.

아웃도어 스포츠 의류 브랜드 개성의 영향요인이 브랜드 개성, 브랜드 애착 및 몰입에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Antecedents of Outdoor Sportswear Brand Personality on Brand Personality, Attachment and Commitment)

  • This study examines the impacts of antecedents on the outdoor sportswear brand personality dimensions and identifies the effects of brand personality dimensions on brand attachment and brand commitment. An online survey was conducted on women in their 20s to 50s, who have experienced to purchase the outdoor sportswear before and 420 responses were analyzed. The results of this study were as follows: 1) The results of factor analysis and the reliability test on the outdoor sportswear brand personality clearly showed factorial structures that include sincerity, excitement, vitality, and prestige. 2) The antecedents of brand personality including quality, price, advertising, and store environment had different influences on the outdoor sportswear brand personality. 3) The dimensions of outdoor sportswear brand personality had a different influence on the brand attachment and commitment. 4) The brand attachment showed a significantly positive influence on the brand commitment. This study indicates that the brand personality could be a useful tool for enhancing the brand attachment and commitment and marketers should develop and utilize the marketing mix according to the brand personality which they want to convey.

티셔츠 제품유형과 의복추구혜택이 구매행동에 미치는 영향 -브랜드 패러디 티셔츠와 카피 티셔츠를 중심으로- (The Influence of T-shirts Product Type and Apparel Benefit on Purchasing Behavior -Comparing Brand-parody T-shirts with Brand-copy T-shirts-)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of T-shirts product type and apparel benefit on consumer preference and purchasing intention. Data for the study were obtained by $3\times2$ mixed factorial design. The subjects were two hundred and thirty college male and female students. The data were analysed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, and ANOVA by using the SPSS program. The results of this study indicated that benefit did not have effects on consumers purchasing intention but significant influences on consumer preference for brand-parody products. For brand-copy products, benefit influenced the purchasing intention, and did not influence the consumer preference. This study suggested that new fashion trends, in association with consumer's benefit, have effects on consumer's purchasing behavior. The result of this study is likely to be useful in planning marketing strategy related to product type and new fashion trends.

의류매장의 VM 구성요소가 점포이미지와 구매의도에 미치는 영향 - 파사드 색상과 쇼 윈도우 유형을 중심으로 - (The Effects of VM Components on Store Image and Purchasing Intention of Fashion Stores - Focused on Facade Color and Show Window Type -)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of VM components(facade color and show window type) on store image and purchasing intention of fashion stores. The subjects were 428 male and female university students in Daejeon and Chungnam province. The measuring instruments were 6 stimuli manipulated by $3{\times}2$ factorial design of facade color and show window type, and a self-administrated questionnaire consisted of store image, purchasing intention, and subjects' demographic characteristics. The results were as follows. First, facade color mainly affected store image and purchasing intention. White color was preferred as more positive images(pleasurable, comfortable, neat, and modern), and showed higher purchasing intention than brown color. Second, show window type affected some store images. Semi-open type was perceived as more pleasurable image than enclosed type, whereas enclosed type was perceived as more luxurious, neat, and attractive image than semi-open type. However, show window type didn't affect purchasing intention. Third, subject' sex affected store image and purchasing intention. Male subjects perceived more positively on store image and had higher purchasing intention than females. This study suggested that facade color and show window type are important VM components affecting store image and purchasing intention.

반응표면 방법에 의한 도우넛용 냉동 yeast dough의 안정성 향상 (Improvement of Frozen Yeast Dough Stability for Doughnuts by Response Surface Methodology)

  • 냉동용 yeast doughnut dough의 안정성을 향상시킬 수 있는 적정배합비를 결정하기 위하여 설탕, SSL 및 $KBrO_{3}$의 첨가량을 3 변수와 3 levels fractional factorial 설계에 의하여 RSM computer program을 사용하여 최적조건을 조사하였다. 대조구의 부피에 가장 가까운 도우넛을 생산하는데 적합한 배합은 premix에 설탕 2%, SSL 0.3%, $KBrO_{3}$ 25ppm을 첨가하는 것이었으며, 이때 compressed yeast는 premix의 7.8%를 사용하였다. 그리고 대조구의 텍스쳐에 가까운 도우넛을 생산하는데 적합한 배합은 premix에 설탕 2%, SSL 0.4%, $KBrO_{3}$ 10ppm을 첨가하는 것이었고, 전체적인 품질이 우수한 도우넛을 생산하는데 적합한 배합은 premix에 설탕 2%, SSL 0.4%, $KBrO_{3}$, 20ppm을 첨가하며, 이 때 역시 compressed yeast는 premix의 7.8%를 사용하는 것이었다. 그리고 반죽을 만들 때 floor time을 생략하는 것이 도우넛의 부피와 텍스쳐를 우수하게 유지하는데 도움이 되었다. 이와 같이 결정된 냉동용 yeast doughnut dough의 배합비에 따라 반죽을 만들어 성형한 다음 $-18^{\circ}C$에서 냉동저장하면서 저장 중 품질변화를 측정한 결과, 저장 2주까지는 도우넛의 부피와 텍스쳐가 대조구와 유사하였으나, 3주 후부터는 대구조보다 바람직하지 못하게 나타났다.

의복과 립스틱의 동일색상 톤 변화에 따른 의복착용자의 이미지 평가 (The Image Evaluation for Tone Variation in Same Color of Clothing and Lipstick of the Clothing Wearers)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of makeup, clothing tone and clothing style on wearer's with same color coordination of lipstick and clothing. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales (7-point scale semantic). The stimuli were 64 color pictures were manipulated by computer simulation. This experiment design was $2{\times}2{\times}4{\times}4$ factorial design. The stimuli were a set of eyeshadow color(brown), clothing style (formal style of Jacket / skirt and casual style of cardigan / pants), lipstick and clothing color (red and orange), lipstick tone(vivid, light, dull and dark), clothing tone(vivid, light, dull and dark). The subjects of this research were 384 female undergraduates living in Gyeongsangnam-do. The investigation was carried out at a lecture hall at the time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in May 2006. The data were analyzed using SPSS program. Factor analysis, 4-way ANOVA, t-test, and Duncan test were used as analysis methods. Image factors according to variation of clothing style, clothing color, and makeup color are composed of 4 different dimensions (visibility, attractiveness, tenderness, and stability). In dimension of the visibility, the image was perceived to be glowing and luxurious regardless of lipstick tone and lipstick color in the case of the vivid tone clothing. According to the variation of clothing style, clothing color and tone, makeup color composed of eyeshadow color, lipstick color and tone, it was investigated that the images for a clothing wearer were expressed diversely, were shown differently in image dimensions, and could be produced to different images. The analysis data for images according to the combination of makeup and clothing color, tone, and style thus provide basic material for image consulting or color coordination.

Synthesis and characterization of poly(vinyl-alcohol)-poly(β-cyclodextrin) copolymer membranes for aniline extraction

  • In this study, poly(vinyl-alcohol) and water insoluble ${\beta}$-cyclodextrin polymer (${\beta}$-CDP) cross-linked with citric acid, have been used as macrocyclic carrier in the preparation of polymer inclusion membranes (PIMs) for aniline (as molecule model) extraction from aqueous media. The obtained membranes were firstly characterized by X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared and water swelling test. The transport of aniline was studied in a two-compartment transport cell under various experimental conditions, such as carrier content in the membranes, stirring rate and initial aniline concentration. The kinetic study was performed and the kinetic parameters were calculated as rate constant (k), permeability coefficient (P) and flux (J). These first results demonstrated the utility of such polymeric membranes for environmental decontamination of toxic organic molecules like aniline. Predictive modeling of transport flux through these materials was then studied using design of experiments; the design chosen was a two level full factorial design $2^k$. An empirical correlation between aniline transport flux and independent variables (Poly ${\beta}$-CD membrane content, agitation speed and initial aniline concentration) was successfully obtained. Statistical analysis showed that initial aniline concentration of the solution was the most important parameter in the study domain. The model revealed the existence of a strong interaction between the Poly ${\beta}$-CD membrane content and the stirring speed of the source solution. The good agreement between the model and the experimental transport data confirms the model's validity.

Machiavellianism in a Synergistic Tax Climate

  • This research examines the personal (i.e., Machiavellianism) and situational factors (i.e., tax climate) that are believed to be psychologically salient aspects in tax compliance. To the best of our knowledge, no research has been carried out to investigate the interaction effect of the two factors. This study uses a paper-and-pencil laboratory experiment 2x2 between-subject factorial design that involved 158 participants. The results indicate that a taxpayer who has a low Machiavellianism score or who is in a high synergistic tax climate reports a higher level of income. In the high synergistic tax climate, where tax norms apply, personal ethics do not play a significant role in tax compliance decisions. Where the synergistic relationship between taxpayer and authorities is low, personal ethics play an important role, i.e., low Machiavellians report a higher reported income than high Machiavellians do. This research contributes to the literature that deviates from the traditional model of tax compliance. Taxpayers are not always rational, but they might pay tax for reasons other than financial motives (Alm, 1991, 2018), that is, personal ethics in this study. This research implies the need for policymakers to consider other approaches rather than only relying on audits and fines.

Effect of Sodium Selenite and Zinc-L-selenomethionine on Performance and Selenium Concentrations in Eggs of Laying Hens

  • The objective of this study was to determine the effect of sodium selenite and zinc-L-selenomethionine on performance and egg Se concentration in laying hens. Two hundred and twenty-four CP Browns aged 71 weeks were divided according to a $2{\times}3$ factorial in a completely randomized design. One more group without additional Se supplementation was used as a negative control. Each treatment consisted of four replicates and each replicate contained eight laying hens. The dietary treatments were T1: basal diet; T2, T3 and T4: basal diets plus 0.3, 1.0 and 3.0 mg Se from sodium selenite/kg, respectively; T5, T6 and T7: basal diets plus 0.3, 1.0 and 3.0 mg Se from zinc-L-selenomethionine/kg, respectively. The findings revealed that feed conversion rate/kg eggs, egg production, egg weight, Haugh units and eggshell thickness were not affected by source and level of Se (p>0.05). Increasing level of dietary Se significantly increased (p<0.05 the Se content of eggs. Zinc-L-selenomethionine markedly increased p<0.05 egg Se concentration as compared with sodium selenite. The results indicated that Se source did not influence performance of laying hens. However, zinc-L-selenomethionine increased p<0.05 egg Se concentration more than sodium selenite.
