  • The classical Bohr's inequality states that $|z+w|^2{\leq}p|z|^2+q|w|^2$ for all $z,\;w{\in}\mathbb{C}$ and all p, q>1 with $\frac{1}{p}+\frac{1}{q}=1$. In this paper, Bohr's inequality is generalized to the setting of n-inner product spaces for all positive conjugate exponents $p,\;q{\in}\mathbb{R}$. In. In particular, the parallelogram law is recovered and an interesting operator inequality is obtained.

  • The present study has been designed to define the effects of photosynthetically active radiation, leaf temperature, and water stress on photosynthesis and respiration of leaves of four oak species (Quercus mongolica, Quercus aliens, Quercus variabilis, and Quercus serrate). The results obtained are as follows : 1. The estimated light compensation points at which Pn approached zero were 38, 24, 20, and $18{\mu}Em^{-2}s^{-1}$ for Q. aliens, Q. variabilis, Q, mongolica, and Q. serrate, respectively. The light saturation points occurred at $500{\mu}Em^{-2}s^{-1}$ in three oak species except Q, aliens. 2. The maximum rates of Pn were 19.7, 15.2, 11.2, and 11.0 mg $CO_2$ $dm^{-2}h^{-1}$ for Q. variabilis, Q. serrate, Q. monglica, and Q. aliens leaves, respectively. 3. The transpiration rates of Q. variabilis and Q. serrate leaves were slightly higher than those of Q. mongolica and Q. aliens leaves at various photosynthetically active radiations(PAR), but cuticular transpiration rates at dark were similar in four oak species. 4. The optimum photosynthesis occurred at $25^{\circ}C$ in Q. aliens, Q. variabilis, and Q. serrate leaves, but $20^{\circ}C$ in Q. mongolica leaves. In four oak species, the net photosynthesis approached zero at about $40^{\circ}C$. 5. The dark respiration rates of leaves exhibited the following ranking of species : Q, variabilis > Q. mongolica > Q. aliens > Q. serrate. 6. The maximum productive efficiency (Pg/Rd) of leaves occurred highest in Q, serrate at $20^{\circ}C$, then in Q. mongolica at $20^{\circ}C$, then in Q, aliens at $25^{\circ}C$, and finally in Q. variabilis at $15^{\circ}C$. 7. The decrease of net photosynthesis in Q. serrate began at about -1.2 MPa, and then approached zero at -2.9 MPa of leaf water potential. The decrease of net photosynthesis began at 3% of water loss, and then approached zero at 17.5% of water loss. 8. As indicated by tissue-water relations parameters, it may be suggested that Q. aliens and Q. variabilis are more tolerant and favored on xeric forest soils than Q. mongolica and Q. serrate.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of bone mineral density on life styles, dietary habits and nutrient intakes among the male college students. The subjects were divided into four groups; $Q_1$ (calcaneus BMD < 25 percentile, n = 117), $Q_2$ (25 percentile $\le$ calcaneus BMD < 50 percentile, n = 118), $Q_3$ (50 percentile $\le$ calcaneus BMD < 75 percentile, n = 118) $Q_4$ (calcaneus BMD $\ge$ 75 percentile, n = 116). And they were asked about general characteristics, life style, dietary habit, and nutrient intake using questionnaire and 24-hr recall method. They were measured the bone mineral density of calcaneus using quantitative ultrasound. The average age of the subjects of the study was 23.0 yews and the average height, weight, and BMI were 174.7 cm, 69.0 kg, $22.5 kg/m^2$. The bone mineral density in calcaneus was $0.43 g/cm^2$ in $Q_1,\;0.50 g/cm^2$ in $Q_2,\;0.56 g/cm^2$ in $Q_3$, and $0.69 g/cm^2$ in $Q_4$ (p < 0.001). The results showed that $Q_1$ tended to have irregular exercise compared to the other three groups. Compared with $Q_1$ and $Q_2$, the frequency of skipping breakfast was lower in $Q_3$ and $Q_4$. Also the results showed that the $Q_4$ was significantly more often to drink coffee compared with the other three groups (p < 0.01). The mean daily energy intake was 2210.6 kcal ($88.4\%$ of RDA). The intake of energy, vitamin $B_2$, calcium, and zinc did not meet the Korean RDA. Also the $Q_2$consumed significantly lower intakes of protein (p < 0.05) and plant protein (p < 0.05) compared to the $Q_3$ and $Q_4$. The $Q_1$ and $Q_2$ consumed significantly lower intakes of vitamin $B_2$ (p < 0.01) compared to the $Q_3$ and $Q_4$. In conclusion, male student in lower bone mineral density appeared to have unhealthy life styles and dietary habits in terms of irregular exercise, high frequency of skipping breakfast and lower intakes of protein, vitamin $B_2$ showing a strong need proper education on meal practices and exercise habits for the bone health.

  • This study investigated the existing theoretical backgrounds in order to examine the stability control method of lateral flow caused by the Plasticity of soils when unsymmetrical surcharge works on polluted soils and then compared and analyzed the results measured through model tests. Ultimate bearing power of ML and $ML_{p1}$ and $ML_{p2}$ obtained at surcharge(q)-settlement$(S_v)$ curve showed similar trends to ultimate bearing power obtained from control chart of deflection $(S_v-Y_m)$ by Tominaga.Hashimoto, that of $S_v-(Y_m/S_v)$ by Matsuo.Kawamura and that of $(q/Y_m)-q$ by Shibata.Sekiguchi and so it is considered that it has no problem in actual applicability. ${S_v-(Y_m/S_v)}$ of control chart of $ML_{p1}$ by Matsuo.Kawamura showed smaller value than ultimate bearing capacity value from surcharge-settlement curve $(q-S_v)$. Expression of ML of fracture baseline at stability control charge by Matsuo Kawamura is ${S_v=3.21exp}\{-0.48(Y_m/S_v)\}$ and expression of $ML_{p1}$ is ${S_v=3.26exp}\{-0.96(Y_m/S_v)\}$ and expression of $ML_{p2}$ is ${S_v=6.33exp}\{-0.45(Y_m/S_v)\}$.

  • This study is carried out to estimate the rate of sediment transportation both to measure the amount of suspended and bedload sediment that moves on or near the river bed and passes through the cross section of a river in unit time, with suspended and bed load samplers used for the Milyang river and to determine the most satisfactory and convenient formula of some formulas for sediment discharge by comparing the measured rate with the calculated rate. The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1) The interrelationship (1) between the total discharge and the total sediment discharge (2) between discharge and suspended sediment load and (3) between discharge and bed load in the Milyang river are (1) i) 4$\leq$Q$\leq$100 C.M.S. Qr=0. 00272 Q0.70 (kg/sec) ii) 150$\leq$Q$\leq$800 C.M.S. Qr=0. 4807 Q0.46 (kg/sec) (2) Qs~=0. 07576 Q1.02 (kg/sec) (3) QB=0. 00957 Q0.44 (kg/sec) 2) The rate of suspended sediment load to total sediment discharge is found to be about; 99%. The suspended load is shown to be almost wash load which consists of silt and clay. 3) The relation between the total discharge and the suspended sediment load that are measured at three medium and small rivers in Korea is Qs=0. 13831 Q0.97 (kg/sec) 4) Brown's formula is determined to be the most convenient formula for application and comparison with observed data obtained for the Milyang river.

  • In the anti-collision scheme proposed by EPCglobal Class-1 Gen-2 standard, the frame size for a query round is determined by Q-algorithm. In the Q-algorithm, the reader calculates a frame size without estimating the number of tags in it's identification range. It uses only the slot status. Therefore, the Q-algorithm has advantage that the reader's algorithm is simpler than other DFSA algorithms. However, the standard does not define an optimized parameter value for adjusting the frame size. In this paper, we propose the optimized parameter values for minimizing the identification time by various computer simulations.

  • The S wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$ structure of the uppermost part of the soil in Nakdong Delta area have been obtained to determine the characteristics of the forementioned soil. The phase and attenuation coefficients of multichannel seismic records were inverted to obtain the S wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$ structure of the soil. The inversion results have been compared with the borehole measurements of the area. The seismic signal of the nearest geophone from a seismic source was used as the source signal to obtain the attenuation coefficients. Amplitude ratios of the signal at each geophone to the source signal wave plotted as a function of distance for the frequency range between 10 Hz and 45 Hz. The slope of a linear regression line which fits amplitude ratio-distance relationship best for a given frequency was used as the attenuation coefficients for the frequency. The dispersion curve of Rayleigh waves and the attenuation coefficients were inverted to obtain the S-wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$, respectively, in the uppermost 8 meter of soil layer. The borehole measurements of the area show that are two distinct layers; the upper 4 meter of silty-sand and the lower 4 meter of silty-clay. The inversion results indicate that the shear wave velocity of the upper layer is 80 m/sec and 40m/sec in the lower silty-clay layer. The spacial resolution of the shear wave velocity structure is very good down to a depth of 8 meter. The Q$s^{-1}$ in the upper silty-sand layer is 0.02 and increase to 0.03 in the lower silty-sand layer. The spacial resolution of quality factor is relatively good down to a depth of 5 meter, but very poor below the depth. In this study, the S-wave velocity is higher in the silty-clay and the Q$s^{-1}$ is smaller silty-sand than in the silty-clay. However, much more data should be analyzed and accumulated before making any generalization on the shear wave velocity and Q$s^{-1}$ of the sediments.

  • Every ring considered in the paper will be assumed to be commutative and have a unit element. An ideal A of a ring R will be called primal if the elements of R which are zero divisors modulo A, form an ideal of R, say pp. If A is a primal ideal of R, P is called the adjoint ideal of A. The adjoint ideal of a primal ideal is prime [2]. The definition of primal ideals may also be formulated as follows: An ideal A of a ring R is primal if in the residue class ring R/A the zero divisors form an ideal of R/A. If Q is a primary idel of a ring R then every zero divisor of R/Q is nilpotent; therefore, Q is a primal ideal of R. That a primal ideal need not be primary, is shown by an example in [2]. Let R[X], and R[[X]] denote the polynomial ring and formal power series ring in an indeterminate X over a ring R, respectively. Let S be a multiplicative system in a ring R and S$^{-1}$ R the quotient ring of R. Let Q be a P-primary ideal of a ring R. Then Q[X] is a P[X]-primary ideal of R[X], and S$^{-1}$ Q is a S$^{-1}$ P-primary ideal of a ring S$^{-1}$ R if S.cap.P=.phi., and Q[[X]] is a P[[X]]-primary ideal of R[[X]] if R is Noetherian [1]. We search for analogous results when primary ideals are replaced with primal ideals. To show an ideal A of a ring R to be primal, it sufficies to show that a-b is a zero divisor modulo A whenever a and b are zero divisors modulo A.

  • The Q-cost has been used in the manufacturing company to decide the optimal level of company's product quality, and to evaluate the effect of company's quality control system since the advent of Q-cost theory. In spite of the following costs are generated in the user side, owing to an unsuitable level of product quality and inadequacy of company's quality control system, these costs are not usually included in the company's Q-cost : (1) the cost generated in relation to a claim proposal as traffic expeneses and transpotation of the product. (2) the cost of maintenance through the useful life of the product, especially accured after quality warranty period. (3) the cost related to the economical efficiency in using the product. (4) the cost ralated to a customer dissatisfaction for the product quality. In this point of view, the contents of user side Q-cost, and the relations between the user side Q-cost and the level of company's product quality are discussed. And then the importance of user side Q-cost in order to determine the optimal quality level is discussed.
