$\beta$-C2S and C4A3 were synthesized separately and potassium oxalate was added to each system. The ad-ditive caused calcium ions in solution to decrease at early time in hydration and promoted hydration reac-tion. And then clinker which is mainly composed of $\beta$-C2S and C4A3 was synthesized at 130$0^{\circ}C$ After ad-ding potassium oxalate to it behavior of hydration was observed. It showed that the additive promoted et-tringtie formation at early time and C-S-H formation as time went on.

The addition reactions of cysteine without blocking amino and carboxyl groups to substituted and unsubstituted ${\beta}$-nitro-styrene derivatives were investigated. ${\beta}$-Nitrostyrene(1a), p-methyl-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene(1b), 3,4,5-trimethoxy-$[\beta}$ -nitrostyrene(1c), $[\varpi}$-3,4-methylenedioxy-${\beta}$ -nitrostyrene(1d), o-, m- and p-chloro-${\beta}$ -nitrostyrene (1e, 1f, 1g) and o-, m- and p-methoxy-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1h, 1i, 1j) easily undergo addition reactions with cysteine to form S-(2-nitro-1-phenylethyl)-L-cysteine(3a), S-[2-nitro-1-(p-methyl)phenyl-ethyl]-L-cysteine(3b), S-[2-nitro-1-(3',4',5'-trimethoxy) phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3c), S-[2-nitro-1-($[\vatpi}$ -3',4'-methylenedioxy)phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3d), S-[2-nitro-1-(o-chloro)phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3e), S-[2-nitro-1-(m-chloro)-phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3f), S-[2-nitro-1-(p-chloro)phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3g), S-[2-nitro-1-(o-methoxy)phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3h), S-[2-nitro-1-(m-methoxy)phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3i) and S-[2-nitro-1-(p-methoxy)phenylethyl]-L-cysteine(3j), respectively. The structure of adducts were confirmed by means of UV-spectrum, IR-spectrum, molecular weight measurement and elemental analysis. The various factors effecting the yield of cysteine adducts to ${\beta}$-nitrostyrene derivatives were also studied.

SiC powder was heated in air over the temperature range of 1100-135$0^{\circ}C$. $\beta$-cristobalite was formed to cover the surfaces of SiC particles by the reaction: $SiC(s)+20_2(g)=SiO_2(s)+CO_2(g)$. It is assumed that the diffusion of oxygen ion through the formed surface layer of $\beta$-cristobalite controls the oxidation of the SiC particles. The diffusion coefficient of oxygen ion through the $\beta$-cristobalite layer was obtained as the following equation: $D=3.84{\times}10^{-17}$exp(-14.7/RT)

$\beta$-BaB2O4는 고출력 가시광선 및 적외선을 발진시키는데 유용한, 비선형 특성을 가진 물질이다. $\alpha$-$\beta$ 상전이 온도가 녹는점보다 18$0^{\circ}C$ 낮기 때문에 보통 flux법으로 단결정을 성장시킨다. 수년전 Itoh등은 $\beta$-BaB2O4단결정을 congruent조성의 용액으로부터 Czochralski법으로 metastable한 상태에서 직접 성장시켰다. 그렇지만 그 공정은 잘 이해되지 않고 있으며 재현하기가 매우 어렵다. 저자들은 $\beta$-BaB2O4단결정을 용액표면온도도 1034$^{\circ}$-1085$^{\circ}C$, pulling rate 3mm/h, 10-30 rpm의 범위에서 성장시켰으며 융액표면의 온도구배는 $\beta$-상으로 성장시키는데 매우 중요한 인자로 여겨진다. Seed로는 직경 1-2mm의 c축방향 $\beta$-BaB2O4단결정 봉이 상용되어 성장방향을 조절하고 열응력을 최소화시켰다. 성장된 $\beta$-상의 단결정들은 6-fold모양을 하며 표면에 작은 비늘같은 것들이 붙어있고 중심부에 core가 있는 것을 알았다. Flux법으로 성장시킨 $\beta$-BaB2O4단결정을 사용한 seeds는 단결정 성장 및 냉각 중에 cracks이 자주 발생하였으며, boule의 cracks은 afterheater를 사용할 경우 다소 줄일 수 있었다. 성장된 단결정의 광학특성이 측정되었다.

The addition products of glutathione to ${\beta}$ -nitrostyrene derivatives were synthesized. ${\beta}$ -Nitrostyrene (1a), p-methyl-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1b), 3,4,5-trimethoxy-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1c), o-, m- and p-chloro-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1e, 1f, 1g) and o-, m- and p-methoxy-${\beta}$-nitrostyrene (1h, 1i, 1j) undergo addition reactions with glutathione to form S-(2-nitro-1-phenylethyl)-L-glutathione (5a), S-[2-nitro-1-(p-methyl)phenylethyl]-L-glutatione (5b), S-[2-nitro-1-(3', 4', 5'-trimethoxy)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5c), S-[2-nitro-1-(o-chloro)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5e), S-[2-nitro-1-(m-choro)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5f), S-[2-nitro-1-(p-chloro)phenylethyl]-L-glutathione (5g), S-[2-nitro-x-(o-methoxy)-phenylethyl]-L-glutathion e(5h), S-[2-nitro-x-(m-methoxy)phenylethyl]-L-glutathion e (5i), and S-[2-nitro-1-(p-methoxy)phenylethy])-L-glutathione (5j), respectively. The structure of adducts were identified by UV and IR-spectra, molecular weight measurement, and elemental analysis.

Biosynthesis of curdlan( ${\beta}$-1,3 glucan) was shown by fluorscence on cellufluor medium. The highest production of curdlan was produced when glucose was used as a carbon source and ($NH_4$)$_2$$SO_4$ was used as a nitrogen source. ${\beta}$ -form of curdlan was detected in the fingerprint region (890 $cm^{-1}$) by FT-IR spectrum and shown homogeneous ${\beta}$ -1,3 glucan by $^{13}C$ NMR spectrum ($C_1$-103 ppm, $C_2$-73.2 ppm, $C_3$-86.4 ppm, $C_4$-68.7 ppm, $C^{5}$-76.63 ppm, $C_{6}$-61.2 ppm). Transition of structure from triple helix coil form to random coil form was appeared at 0.1 ∼0.25 M NaOH concentration. It was shown that natural curdlan is a triple helix form in neutral but becomes weak in alkaline condition.

Objectives : This experiment was designed to investigate the effect of Chongmyung-Tang Prescription Combination(CmTP-$C_{1-10}$) extract on the production of amyloid $\beta$ protein and $\beta$-site amyloid precursor protein-cleaving enzyme(BACE) activity. Methods : The effect of CmTP-$C_{1-10}$ extract on expression of APP mRNA, BACE2 mRNA in BV2 microglia cell line treated by lipopolysacchride(LPS) and amyloid $\beta$ protein fragment(A$\beta$ fragment) were investigated. The effect of CmTP-$C_{1-10}$ extract on production of amyloid $\beta$ protein(A$\beta$) in BV2 microglia cell line treated by LPS and A$\beta$ fragment were investigated. The effect of CmTP-$C_{1-10}$ extract on BACE activity were investigated. Results : 1. CmTP-$C_9$ extract the most significantly suppressed the expression of APP mRNA, BACE2 mRNA in BV2 microglia cell line treated by LPS and A$\beta$ fragment. 2. CmTP-$C_9$ extract significantly suppressed the production of A$\beta$ in BV2 microglia cell line treated by LPS and A$\beta$ fragment. 3. CmTP-$C_9$ extract the most significantly inhibited BACE activity. Conclusions : These results suggest that CmTP-$C_9$ may be effective for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. Investigation into clinical use of CmTP-$C_9$ for Alzheimer's Disease is suggested for future research.

Using a single precursor of hexamethyldisilane $(Si_{2}(CH_{3})_{6})$, $\beta$-SiC film was successfully deposited on a Si substrate at $1100^{\circ}C$ by a chemical vapor deposition method. Selectivity of SiC deposition on a Si substrate partially covered with a masking material was investigated by introducing HCl gas into hexamethyldisilane/$H_{2}$ gas system during the deposition. The schedule of the precursor and HCl gas flows was modified so that the selectivity of SiC deposition between a Si substrate and a mask material should be improved. It was confirmed that the selectivity of SiC deposition was improved by introducing HCl gas. Also, the pulse gas flow technique was effective to enhance the selectivity.

The subclasses S*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$) and C*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$) ($0\leqq\alpha<1,\;0<\beta\leqq1$ and $0\leqq\mu\leqq1$) of T the class of analytic and univalent functions of the form $$f(z)=z-\sum\limit^{\infty}_{n=2}\mid a_n\mid z^n$$ have been considered. Sharp results concerning coefficients, distortion of functions belonging to S*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$) and C*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$) are determined along with a representation formula for the functions in S*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$). Furthermore, it is shown that the classes S*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$) and C*($\alpha,\beta,\mu$) are closed under arithmetic mean and convex linear combinations. Also in this paper, we find extreme points and support points for these classes.
