남해 동부 연안 지역 지하수의 수리지구화학적 연구: 해수침투에 대한 고찰

  • 남해 동부 연안 지역 지하수의 해수 침투 영향을 광역적으로 파악하기 위하여, 202개소의 지하수 시료를 채취하고 수리지구화학적 연구를 수행하였다. 전체 시료 중 14.4%가 500 $\mu\textrm{m}$/cm을 초과하는 높은 EC값을 나타내어 해수 영향을 시사해 주었다. 해수 영향 판단의 또 다른 파라메터로 사용되는 CI/HCO$_3$ 몰비는 전체 시료의 23.3%가 1.3 이상의 값을 나타내었다. 한편, 대표적으로 해수침투 영향 및 인위적 오염의 영향을 각각 반영하는 것으로 알려진 Cl과 NO$_3$의 농도에 관한 누적도수분포도를 작성하여 배경수질군과 오염영향군을 구분짓는 배경치(background concentration)를 구한 결과, 각각 Cl = 22.3 mg/1 및 NO$_3$= 23.1 mg/l로 나타났다. 이 두 파라메터의 농도 분포를 기준으로 하여 채취된 지하수 시료를 크게 4개의 그룹으로 나눌 수 있었다. 그 결과, 자연적 또는 인위적 기원의 오염이 배제된 그룹 1은 전체 시료의 31%, 자연적 오염(해수 영향)을 반영하는 그룹 2는 전체의 24%, 인위적 오염의 영향을 반영하는 그룹 3은 전체의 9%, 해수 영향 및 인위적 오염을 동시에 반영하는 그룹4는 전체의 36%로 나타났다. 또한 그룹2와 그룹4는 대부분 Na-Cl유형으로 진화하는 Ca-Cl유형을 나타내었다. 따라서, 여러 지구화학 방법에 의한 해수 영향 판단 결과는 서로 잘 일치하고 있음을 알 수 있다. 결국, 지구화학적 파라메터를 종합적으로 활용함으로써, 연안 지역 해수침투의 효과적인 파악은 물론 예측 및 방지, 복구에 효과적으로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.으로 토양에서 유동 가능성이 있는 중금속만을 추출하였다. 분석실험은 토양의 Cd2+ 와 Pb2+를 대상으로 행하여졌으며, 여러 토양에서 추출 분석한 결과를 EDTA분석결과와 비교하였다. 실험결과, 중금속은 매우 신속하게 고분자 자성체와 결합하였고, 그 후 자성체를 외부 자장으로 모은 후 산으로 용해시키고, 결합된 중금속은 Graphite furnace AAS로 분석함으로써 빠르고 효율적으로 분석실험을 수행할 수 있음을 알 수 있었다. 한편, 실험에서 나타난 수치들을 비교 검토한 결과 토양 분석시 sandy soil에서는 자성체를 이용한 분석이 EDTA에 의한 방법보다 더 높은 추출도를 보인 반면, silt 함량이 많은 토양의 경우에서 EDTA분석에서 더 높은 중금속 추출도를 보였다.s 중에서 490nm와 555nm의 복합밴드를 포함하는 OC2 알고리즘(ocean color chlorophyll 2 algorithm)을 사용하는 것이 OC2 series 및 OC4 알고리즘보다 좋은 추정 값을 도출할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.환경에서는 5일에서 7월에 주로 이 충체의 유충이 발육되고 전파되는 것으로 추측되었다.러 가지 방법들을 적극 적용하여 금후 검토해볼 필요가 있을 것이다.잡은 전혀 삭과가 형성되지 않았다. 이 결과는 종간 교잡종을 자방친으로 하고 그 자방친의 화분친을 사용할 때만 교잡이 이루어지고 있음을 나타내고 있다. 따라서 여교잡을 통한 종간잡종 품종육성 활용방안을 금후 적극 확대 검토해야 할 것이다하였다.함을 보이고 있다.X> , ZnCl$_{3}$$^{-}$같은 이온과 MgCl$^{+}$, MgCl$_{2}$같은 이온종을 형성하기 때문인것 같다. 한편 어

Effect of Pressure on Hydration Number of Some Ions (몇 가지 이온의 水和數에 대한 壓力의 效果)

  • The limiting equivalent conductances of LiCl, NaCl, KCl and KBr have been obtained in water using conductometric method from 1 to 2000 bars at $25^{\circ}C$. From the limiting equivalent ionic conductances (obtained using TATB[Tetraphenyl Arsonium Tetraphenyl Borate]method) of $Li^+$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Cl^-$, and $Br^-$ ions and viscosity of water at given pressure, their Stokes radii have been calculated. From the corrected radii caliberated by Nightingale method and the crystallographic radii at a given pressure, the volume of hydration-shell surrounding ion was calculated and hydration numbers of $Li^+$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Cl^-$, and $Br^-$ ions were obtained. From the experimental results, it was found that the hydration number of $Li^+$, $Na^+$, $K^+$, $Cl^-$, and $Br^-$ ions slightly decreased with increasing pressure. This trend may be explained by Horne's suggestion[Advances in High Pressure Research]. Comparing results of this study with those of Nakahara's, the hydration numbers of $K^+$ and $Cl^-$ ions were almost twice as large as those of Nakahara's[Rev. Phys. Chem. Japan, 42, 12 (1972)]. By comparing the present results with those of Kollman's [J. Am. Chem. Soc., 113, 2481 (1991)], the hydration number obtained by applying TATB method and Nightingale method may be inferred to be reasonable.

Indoor Air Quality Pollution of PM2.5 and Associated Trace Elements Affected by Environmental Tobacco Smoke (환경담배연기로 인한 실내공기 중 PM2.5 및 미량성분 오염 특성)

  • Environmental tobacco smoke (ETS) samples were collected separately in mainstream and side-stream smoke using a self-designed smoking machine, and a total 40 of PM2.5 was collected with low volume air sampler at indoor environments with and without ETS in Daejeon, Korea. About 20 trace elements including toxic metals like As, Cr, Mn, Se, V, and Zn were determined in PM2.5 and ETS samples by instrumental neutron activation analysis (INAA). It is found that the emission factors of K, Cl, Na, and Al were much higher than those of toxic elements for both mainstream and side-stream smoke. The average concentration of PM2.5 was enriched by 1.5 times at smoking area ($58.7{\pm}18.1{\mu}g/m^3$) than at smoking free area ($38.6{\pm}12.7{\mu}g/m^3$). The concentration ratio of each element between smoking and smoking free area were ranged from 1.1 to 6.0 except Cu (1.0); especially, Ce (6.0), La (5.2), K (2.3), and Co (2.0) showed higher ratio, which suggests that the ETS is one of the possible increasing factors of PM2.5 and elemental concentration at indoor environment.

Effects of Disinfectant Concentration, pH, Temperature, Ammonia, and Suspended Solids on the Chlorine Disinfection of Combined Sewer Overflow (소독제 농도, pH, 온도, 암모니아 농도, 부유물질이 강우 월류수 염소 소독에 미치는 영향)

  • The treatment of combined sewer overflow (CSO) is one of potential concerns in domestic wastewater treatment in Korea due to the pre-announce of CSO regulations. This work investigated the effects of disinfectant (NaOCl) concentration (0.11 to 4.0 mg $Cl_2/L$), pH (6.5 to 8.0), temperature (15 to $25^{\circ}C$), ammonia (10 to 41 mg N/L), and suspended solids (91 to 271 mg SS/L) on the chlorine disinfection of CSO. The effect of NaOCl concentration on the pseudo-$1^{st}$ order reaction rate for total coliform inactivation was described well with a saturation-type model with the half-velocity constant of 1.212 mg/L. The total coliform inactivation reaction rate decreased with SS and pH, and increased with temperature. Ammonia in the examined range did not affect the disinfection kinetics. A chlorine contact tank with the injection chlorine level of 1 mg $Cl_2/L$ and the hydraulic retention time of 1.25 min is estimated to reduce total coliform from $1{\times}10^5MPN/mL$ to 1,000 MPN/mL at 271 mg SS/L, $15^{\circ}C$, and pH 8.0. Chlorine would be a proper option for the disinfection of CSO.

Cultural Characteristics of Psychrotrophic Lactic Acid Bacteria Isolated from Kimchi (김치에서 분리한 저온성 젖산균의 배양특성)

  • The cultural characteristics of 60 strains of psychrotrophic lactic acid bacteria which were isolated from kimchi, a Korean traditional fermented vegetable food, and identified as Leuconostoc mesenteroides subsp. mesenteroides, Leu. mesenteroides subsp. dextranicum, Leu. paramesenteroides, Leu. lactis, Lactobacillus bavaricus and Lac. homohiochii were tested. All strains grew at $5^{\circ}C,\;10^{\circ}C\;and\;37^{\circ}C$ in tomato glucose broth, but not at $45^{\circ}C$. The optimum growth temperature of Leu. mesenteroides and Lactobacillus sp. were $33{\sim}34^{\circ}C\;and\;34{\sim}36^{\circ}C$, respectively. All strains of Leu. mesenteroides and Lactobacillus sp. grew at 4.8 and 4.2 of initial pH, but not at 4.0. The final pH of Leu. mesenteroides and Lactobacillus sp. in glucose broth were $3.84{\sim}4.10\;and\;3.82{\sim}3.99$, respectively. None of the 60 strains clotted milk nor reduced litmus in litmus milk. All strains of Leu. mesenteroides and Lactobacillus sp. grew in tomato glucose broth containing 7% ethanol or 6.5% NaCl, but not in the broth containing 15% ethanol or 10% NaCl. All strains grew in tomato glucose broth containing 40% bile juice and survived in the artificial gastric juice of pH 3.5. Furthermore, all strains of Leu. mesenteroides survived in the artificial gastric juice of pH 3.0. Since many strains of lactic acid bacteria tested in this study showed differences in several physiological characteristics from those described in Bergey's Manual of Systematic Bacteriology, it was considered that further tests would be necessary to clarify their positions in taxonomic system.

Cs Fixation and Leaching Characteristics of High Temperature-Treated Todorokite (고온 처리된 토도로카이트의 Cs 고정 및 용출 특성)

  • Todorokite is a manganese oxide mineral containing Mg2+ in a tunnel structure in which MnO6 octahedra share corners. In order to investigate the suitability and efficiency of high temperature-treated todorokite as a material for adsorption and fixation of Cs, Cs was ion exchanged and the amount of leached Cs from todorokite was measured. The todorokite used in this study was synthesized by transforming Na-birnessite to Mg-buserite and used as a precursor. After high temperature treatment, Cs exchanged todorokite changed to birnessite and hausmannite as the temperature increased. The amount of leached Cs was investigated for Cs exchanged todorokite which was reacted with distilled water and 1 M NaCl solution at different reaction times. In general, for the samples reacted with 1 M NaCl solution, the fixation of Cs was quite effective, although the amount of leached Cs was greater due to the ion exchange reaction with Na. As the treatment temperature increased, the amount of leached Cs increased and then decreased again, which was related to the mineral phases formed at each temperature. As birnessite was formed, the amount of leached Cs increased, but as birnessite decreased, that decreased again. As the mineral phase changed to hausemanite, the amount of Cs decreased rapidly. The results of our study show that Cs exchanged todorokite can be used as a material that effectively fixes Cs and prevents its diffusion by high temperature treatment.

A Study on Characteristics of Pulverized Ion Exchange Resins (이온교환수지 분체 특성에 대한 연구)

  • The ion exchange resin used to remove total dissolved solids (TDS) is used by being packed in a column, and sufficient contact time between the ionic material and the ion exchange resin is required during the ion exchange process. In this study, the ion exchange resin that exhibits high TDS reduction even with a short contact time through pulverization of the ion exchange resin was characterized. The optimal size of resin considering flowability was over 100 ㎛. The highest pulverizing yield were obtained that 250~500 ㎛ size and 100~250 ㎛ size were 67.3% and 36.9%, respectively. Also, the highest yield and the pulverizing time of 100~500 ㎛ size was 87.1% and 2 minutes, respectively. Under batch test conditions, the time to reach a removal rate of 95% and 99% for 250~500 ㎛ resins was 1.82 and 1.96 times faster than non-pulverized ion exchange resin, respectively. The 100~250 ㎛ resins showed 15.9 times and 6.18 times faster, respectively. Under the column test, a total of 1.74 g of NaCl was removed by non-pulverized ion exchange resins, 1.83 g of NaCl was removed by 250~500 ㎛ resins and 1.63 g of NaCl was removed by 100 and 250 ㎛ resins. As the size of the resin decreased, the capacity slightly decreased. As a result, it was observed that the pulverized ion exchange resins could be a method of achieving high TDS removal performance under short contact time.

Calcium Ion Effect on the Sugar-H+ -Cotransport System in Chlorella vulgaris (Chlorella vulgaris의 당류 능동수송계에 미치는 칼슘 이온의 영향)

  • Sugar uptake is accompanied with H+-substrate-symport generally. Both H+/sugar-and H+/K+ stoichiometries during the sugar-uptake have been reported to be exactly 1 : 1. This paper reports that the stoichiometries were enhanced dramatically by the addition of CaCl2 into the medium and by the high cell density of 200 $\mu$L pc/mL. The concentration of free Ca2+ ions in the cells increased significantly with cell density. It is suggested that the free Ca2+ ions are responsible for the change of stoichiometry of sugar transport system by regulation of H+ ion level of biomembrane.

Single step purification of potent antigenic protein from sparganum by gelatin-affinity chromatography (젤라틴 친화성 크로마토그래피를 이용한 스파르가눔 성분단백질의 순수분리)

  • Out of many component proteins in crude saline extract of Spirometra mansoni plerocercoid (sparganum) , 36 kDa and 29 kDa proteins were found to be the most antigenic and were already purified by immunoaffinity chromatography using monoclonal antibody as a ligand. In this study, a single step purification of these potent antigenic proteins of sparganum extract was investigated. When the crude saline extract was charged to gelatin-Sepharose 4B affinity column, 36 kDa and 29 kDa protein fractions were bound. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) and SDS-PAGE/immunoblot confirmed that the bound protein to gelatin was serologically pure. When evaluated by ELISA with patients sera, the purified protein of 36 and 29 kDa also showed improved antigenicity.

The Effective Factors of n Foam Generation Using Foam Condensate (포말 농축물에 의한 포말 생성의 영향인자)

  • We performed the experiment to determine the effective factors, such as the initial concentration of protein, pore size of air distributor, SAV (superficial air velocity), pH, salts and temperature related to foaming characteristics. The foam height in a foam generator was increased with the increase of the initial protein concentration and the decrease of pore size. As SAV was increased, the foam height was increased, and the optimum SAV was 0.84 cm/sec. The foam height was highest in the acid region and it was increased with the increase of salt concentration of NaCl and $NaHCO_3.$ The removal efficiencies of TSS (total suspended solid) and turbidity decreased with the increase of the initial protein concentration in the batch foam separator.
