  • Domestic intercomparison study of the neutron personnel dosemeters was performed for the first time in Korea. Thirteen types of neutron dosemeters from twelve institutions took part in this intercomparison study and the $D_2O$ moderated Cf-252 source of KAERI was used for irradiation. Eight of the fifteen dosemeters submitted by each participant were divided into two groups and each group was irradiated with different doses of the simulated mixed fields of neutron and gamma. The participants assessed their dosemeter reading in terms of the personal dose equivalent, Hp(10), for both neutron and gamma dose. The ratio of the reported dose equivalent to the delivered dose equivalent for comparison between participants ranged from 0.55 to 1.34 for neutron, from 0.54 to 1.32 for gamma and from 0.75 to 1.20 for total dose. This intercomparison results show that all dosemeter processors, especially for neutron category, are able to pass the personnel dosemeter performance test which shall be enforced according to the ordinance of the MOST, No. 96-6.

  • We have performed two experiments in the fast critical assembly BFS to measure the effective delayed neutron fraction $\beta$$_{eff}$ values and compared the results to validate the $\beta$$_{eff}$ computation code, BETA-K. Measurements of $\beta$$_{eff}$ were carried out in a metallic plutonium core and a metallic uranium core with Cf$^{252}$ source pseudo-reactivity method. Fission integrals and correction factors, which were used to obtain the experimental $\beta$$_{eff}$ values, were calculated by using the LMR core design computation code system of KAERI. BETA-K has been developed consistently with the hexagonal Nodal Expansion Method (NEM) and it used delayed neutron data of ENDF/B-VI. By comparing the computed $\beta$$_{eff}$ values with the measured ones, we found that the results from BETA-K agreed with the experimental values within the experimental error bound.ror bound.

  • An Exponential experiment system which is composed of a neutron detector, a signal analysis system and a neutron source, Cf-252 has been installed in order to experimentally determine the neutron effective multiplication factor for a PWR spent fuel assembly. The axial background neutron flux is measured in a preliminary performance test. From the results, the spacer grid position is determined to be consistent with the design specifications within a 2.3% relative error. The induced fission neutron for four of the assemblies is also measured by scanning the neutron source, Cf-252 or the neutron detector. The exponential decay constants have been evaluated by the application of the Poisson regression to the net induced fission neutron counts. The measured keffs determined on the basis of the exponential decay constants of Cl5 appeared to be 0.541, 0.540, 0.597 and 0.556, respectively, which are comparable with 0.55195$\pm$0.00232 of the MCNP calculation.

  • In routine testing, the radioactive neutron sources are particularly suitable for producing standard. neutron fields. The ISO TC-85 has proposed neutron reference radiation for the calibration of neutron measuring devices used for radiation protection purposes. Radiation laboratory of KSRI has installed a standard irradiation facility using $^{252}Cf$ and $^{241}Am-Be$ sources for calibrating personal dosimeters according to the recommendations given in ISO TC-85. In this study, correction factors for calibration related to neutron scattering and anisotropy are obtained by experiments with commercial rem meter for demonstration purposes.

  • Introduction: In this study, TLD 600 and TLD 700 pairs were used to measure the neutron dose of Elekta Precise medical linac. To this end, the optimum moderate thickness for the conversion of fast to thermal neutrons were evaluated. Materials and methods: 241Am-Be and 252Cf sources were simulated to calculate the optimum thicknesses of the moderator for the conversion of maximum fast neutrons (FN) into thermal neutrons (TN). Pair TLDs were used to measure F&TN doses for three different field sizes at four depths of the medical linac. Results: The maximum thickness of the moderator was optimized at 6 cm. The measurement results demonstrated that the TN dose increased with the expansion of field size and depth. The FN dose, which was converted TN, exhibits behaviors comparable to the TN due to its nature. Conclusion: This study presents the optimum thickness for the moderator to convert FN into TN and measure F&TN using TLDs.

  • In this study, the deformation and etch characteristics of ArF and EUV photoresists were compared in a dual frequency superimposed capacitively coupled plasma (DFS-CCP) etcher systems using $CF_{4}/O_{2}/Ar$ and $CF_{4}/CHF_{3}/O_{2}/Ar$ mixture gas chemistry which are typically used for BARC open and $Si_{3}N_{4}$ teching chemistry, respectively. Etch rate of the resists tend to increase with low-frequency source power ($P_{LF}$) and high-frequency source ($f_{HF}$). The etch rate of ArF resist was hgither than that of EUV resist.

  • Air pressure decay (APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those reused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF 15-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained (rom the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAK dialyzers had a larger APD($11.70{\pm}1.32$mmHg/min) compared to CF dialyzers($4.32{\pm}0.55$mmHg/min) (p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHg/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CF and 5 out 26 C DAK) were attributed to the possible damage on the fibers. The CF 15-11 HFDs which failed APD test did not show changes in the UFR compared to normal dialyzers indicating that APD Is a more son sitive test than UFR test to evaluate the integrity of the fibers.
