Soil and Coal Radioactivity around Zuunmod Town of Mongolia

  • The specific radioactivity concentrations of $\^$238/U, $\^$232/Th, $\^$40/K were measured in soil samples around Zuunmod town of Mongolia using HP-Ge gamma-spectrometer. Also the specific radioactivity concentrations of above elements were measured in coal and ash samples which were collected from the Central steam heating in Zuunmod town. It was determined the effective equivalent dose.

Cancer Risk Assessment Due to Natural and Fallout Activity in Some Cities of Pakistan

  • The measured mean activities of $^{226}Ra,\;^{232}Th,\;^{40}K\;and\;^{137}Cs$ in the soil of Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahimyar Khan Bistricts were 32.9, 53.6, 647.4 and 1.8 Bq $kg^{-1}$. The average absorbed dose rate calculated from these activities was 74.3 nGy $h^{-1}$ and the mean annual effective dose rate was found to be 0.46 mSv $y^{-1}$. Absorbed doses to different body organs were derived from annual effective doses using tissue weighting factors. Radiation induced fatal cancer risks were assessed by using ICRP 60 Model. Estimations incurred 184deaths per year due to cancer.

  • A study of effects of design parameters on the seismic responses of base isolated structure is performed to reduce the seismic responses using a linear tw0-degree of freedom system and a lumped-mass model of a nuclear power p;ant(NPP). From the simplified 2 DOF system the optimal isolation frequency being less than 1/10th of the fundamental frequency of superstructure is obtained, and the isolator damping minimizing the peak acceleration depends on superstructure frequency. From the time history analyses for lumped mass model of NPP the optimal damping is calculated as 40% in containment building and 65% in reactor internal structure. Similar results are obtained in 2 DOF system

전기 청소년의 의복관여와 유행선도력과의 관계 (The Relationship between Clothing Involvement and Fashion Leadership of Early Adolescents)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between clothing involvement and fashion leadership of early adolescents. A questionnaire was administered to 232 9th grade students living in Taegu during April of 1998. Data were analyzed by using Factor analysis, Correlation, t-tests, ANOVA, Scheffe test, and Regression analysis. Clothing involvements were factor analyzed resulting five factors such as interest, importance, fashionability, symbolism, and risk perception. Four factors except risk perception factor were used in data analysis. Four clothing involvement factors showed highly positive relations with total clothing involvement. Interest, importance, and fashionability factors showed highly positive relationship each other. Fashionability and interest factors had effect on fashion leadership. Female adolescents were more concerned about clothing interests than male. Adolescents who were high clothing-interested and fashion-oriented purchased more clothing items. Adolescents who showed high clothing involvements such as interest, importance, and fashionability paid much more on purchasing clothes.

한국과 중국의 MeSH 호환성 연구 (A study of MeSH Compatibility between Korea and Chinese)

  • The findings from this study are summarized as follows: 1. Hangul 2004 has 16,023 Chinese Character codes. Among them, 15,231 Chinese Character codes are searched by DB, the others are unsearchable codes. 2. Among 15,231 Chinese Character codes of Hangul 2004, 2,471 Chinese Character codes are converted into 2,232 Simplified Chinese Character codes by Traditional and Simplified Chinese Character Converting program in Hangul 2004. 3. The 5th edition TCM-MeSH has 6,385 thesauruses and 2,142 kinds of Chinese Characters. 4. If we use Simplified Chinese Character of Hangul 2004 to search for TCM-MeSH, we will find 94.3% of TCM-MeSH. But If we use Traditional Chinese Character of Hangul 2004 to search for TCM-MeSH, we will find only 34.2% of TCM-MeSH.

  • Basic research on the accelerator-driven system is conducted by combining $^{235}U$-fueled and $^{232}Th$-loaded cores in the Kyoto University Critical Assembly with the pulsed neutron generator (14 MeV neutrons) and the proton beam accelerator (100 MeV protons with a heavy metal target). The results of experimental subcriticality are presented with a wide range of subcriticality level between near critical and 10,000 pcm, as obtained by the pulsed neutron source method, the Feynman-${\alpha}$ method, and the neutron source multiplication method.

  • Cancer of the oral cavity and pharynx represents the 7th most diagnosed malignancy in Spain. Mucoepidermoid carcinomas are the most frequent malignancies of the minor salivary glands of oral cavities. The purpose of this report is to describe the very rare case of an alveolar ridge high-grade mucoepidermoid carcinoma presenting as an inside socket radiolucent lesion, simulating an apical cyst. The patient was diagnosed in our unit for oral and maxillofacial surgery and treated with surgery and adjuvant radiotherapy. The patient continues to be free of recurrent/persistent, local/regional disease after two years of follow up. Non-healed tooth related lesions present for more than one year are strongly recommended to be biopsied and evaluated histopathologically.

  • With taller buildings and larger typhoons, the impact of building winds is growing. During the 11th Typhoon Hinnamno in 2022, the building wind in Busan L City exceeded 60m/s, reaching the highest speed ever. Although many studies have been conducted on reducing the wind load of buildings, which is one of the problem factors caused by strong wind speed, there is a lack of research on wind speed reducing sculptures that can directly control strong wind speed. In this paper, several types of wind speed reduction sculptures were proposed to solve these problems, and the wind speed reduction capability of the proposed sculptures was analyzed through computational fluid dynamics (CFD). These results can contribute to suggesting effective design methods for improving the urban environment and reducing pedestrian stress.

  • 본 연구는 소구경 화기의 총열 수명 신뢰성 분석에 대한 내용이다. 연구의 진행은 총열의 잔여수명을 예측할 수 있는 변수를 선정하는 것에서 출발하였으며 기존의 예측기법인 총열의 내경을 Gage 계측을 통해 확인하여 마모정도를 측정하는 방법과는 달리, 야전에서 사용가능한 분산도와 사격량과의 관계를 예측하여 총열의 신뢰성 및 잔여수명 예측에 대한 가설을 설정하고 연구를 진행하였다. 실사격을 통해 수행한 선행시험을 통해 나온 결과를 바탕으로 회귀분석 기법을 통해 적합한 실험식을 유도한 이후 검증시험을 통해 수식이 사용 가능함을 확인하였으며, 사용군의 운용시험을 통해 검증하고 결과를 분석하였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 호흡량 측정에 영향을 주는 요인들로부터 정확한 유량을 산출해내는 방법에 대해 고찰하고, 마취용 인공호흡기에 적용하여 수술환자의 호홉특성을 알아내는 호흡측정기를 구현하였다. 차동압력형 유량센서를 이용하여 압력, 온도, 가스구성의 상관관계에 따라 호흡량을 계측하였으며, 휴대형 기기에 적합하도록 전력 효율을 최대화 할 수 있게 시스템을 설계하였다. 구현 시스템은 크게 아날로그 인터페이스(analog interface)부, 신호처리부, 그리고 화면출력부로 나눌 수 있다. 아날로그 인터페이스부는 차동 압력 유량 센서와 차동 압력 센서로 구성된다. 전력소모를 최소화하기 위하여 여러 가지 기능을 단일소자로 수행할 수 있고, 저전력의 8비트 RISC 계열인 AVR프로세서를 중앙처리장치로 선택하였다. 데이터 전송부에서는 직렬(serial)통신(RS232, SPI)으로 측정된 값들의 출력 파형을 PC화면에 표시하거나 마취기로 전송한다. 차동 압력과 유량의 비선형적 관계를 선형화하였고, 센서 보정 기능은 일정 주기로 보정을 자동적으로 수행함으로써, 보다 안정적인 동작이 가능하게 한다. 아날로그 필터와 고속의 디지털 신호처리 알고리즘 구현으로 생체신호의 노이즈를 줄일 수 있었다. 작고, 가벼우며, 저전력인 시스템의 특징은 응급 환자나 이동중인 환자에게 적용될 수 있으며, 가래, 침, 습기와 같은 이물질에 영향이 적은 유량 센서의 사용으로 점액의 발생이 많은 마취기에서 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
