It is becoming apparent that stereo matching algorithms need much information from high level cognitive processes. Otherwise, conventional algorithms based on bottom-up control alone are susceptible to local minima. We introduce a system that consists of two levels. A lower level, using a usual matching method, is based upon the local neighborhood and a second level, that can integrate the partial information, is aimed at contextual matching. Conceptually, the introduction of bottom-up and top-down feedback loop to the usual matching algorithm improves the overall performance. For this purpose, we model the image attributes using a Markov random field (MRF) and thereupon derive a maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimate. The energy equation, corresponding to the estimate, efficiently represents the natural constraints such as occlusion and the partial informations from the other levels. In addition to recognition, we derive a training method that can determine the system informations from the other levels. In addition to recognition, we derive a training method that can determine the system parameters automatically. As an experiment, we test the algorithms using random dot stereograms (RDS) as well as natural scenes. It is proven that the overall recognition error is drastically reduced by the introduction of contextual matching.

This paper is aimed to suggest a site specific partial safety factor of offshore wind turbine (OWT) pile foundation design for the offshore wind turbine complex at a West-South mainland sea in Korea. International offshore wind design standards such as IEC, GL, DNV, API, ISO and EUROCODE were compared with each partial safety factor and resistance factor. Soil uncertainty analysis using a large number of soil data sampled was carried out, and their results were adapted to estimate partial safety factor of OWT pile foundation through reliability analyses. The representative partial safety factor has been estimated as 1.3. When a proposed partial factor is willing to use to other sites, it is recommended that further studies on code calibration are required to validate their accuracy using more site characterization data.

The size of microarray gene expression data is very big and its observation process is also very complex. Thus missing values are frequently occurred. In this paper we propose the sequential partial least squares(SPLS) regression fitting method to estimate missing values for time course gene expression data that has correlations among observations over time points. The SPLS method is to combine the sequential technique with the partial least squares(PLS) regression fitting method. The usefulness of method proposed is evaluated through some simulation study for three yeast time course data.
Data pertaining to the first generation of a Synthetic White Leghorn flock were used to estimate the heritabilities of and genetic correlation between partial egg production(egg number or percentage) or diversely segmented part records and other traits such as age at sexual maturity, residual and annual egg production, and to compare the expected genetic gain from selection on partial egg number or partial percent production with correlated response in other traits. The estimated heritabilites for six measures of egg Production were ranged from 29 to 35, while heritability for age at sexual maturity (SM) was intermediate (48). Genetic correlations between partial egg number (P) and annual egg number. (A), and partial percent production (P') and annual percent production (A') were 51 and 72, respectively. Genetic correlation between P and SM was estimated largely negative (-.64), while correlation bettween P' and SM was positively intermediate(34). In comparing direct response from selection on partial production (P or P') with another response in correlated trait, selection on P would be 25% more efficient than selection of P' for improving A, while selection of P' would be 94% more efficient than selection P for improving A' For shortening SM selection of P would be 98% more efficient than selection on P'.
This paper presents partial discharge localization in stator winding of generators using multi-conductor transmission line (MTL) and RLC ladder network models. The high-voltage (HV) winding of a 6kV/250kW generator has been modeled by MATLAB software. The simulation results of the MTL and the RLC ladder network models have been evaluated with the measurements results in the frequency domain by applying of the Pearson’s correlation coefficients. Two PD generated calibrator signals in kHz and MHz frequency range were injected into different points of generator winding and the signals simulated/measured at the both ends of the winding. For partial discharge localization in stator winding of generators is necessary to calculate the frequency spectrum of the PD current signals and then estimate the poles of the system from the calculated frequency spectrum. Finally, the location of PD can be estimated. This theory applied for the above generator and the simulation/measured results show the good correlation for PD Location for RLC ladder network and MTL models in the frequency range of kHz (10kHz<f<1MHz) and MHz (1MHz<f<5MHz) respectively.

In this paper, we dealt with a partial discharge(PD) measurement method that has been accepted as an effective and non-destructive technique to estimate insulation performance of low-voltage electric and electronic devices. The PD measurement system Is composed of a coupling network, a low noise amplifier, and associated electronics. h shielded box Is adopted to make a better measurement environment against around noise. A low cut-off frequency of the coupling network estimated by a sinusoidal wave input was 125 kHz (-3 dB). Calibration tests on laboratory set-up have shown that the PD measurement system has a stable sensitivity of 10 mV/pC. In an application test oil a low-voltage three phase Induction motor (5 HP), we could detect 0.53 pC level of partial discharge at the applied voltage of AC 650 $V_{peak}$.

The exact partial discharge pulse should be measured in order to estimate the discharge source in the solid insulation and diagnose the degree of deterioration. Partial discharges generated in the insulation occur in the internal voids or at the edge of the insulation, have unique characteristics following the type and location. When external voltage is applied, Partial discharges occurred in the restrictively presented voids increase the quantity of electrical charge at the discharge onset voltage. The discharge characteristics have remained constant as space is filled by the impurity such as a compound of gases accompanied with discharge. In this study, How to design the insulation about the problems of the built-in diagnostics in the transformer is discussed by the interpretation of electric field.
In a fault tree analysis, an uncertainty importance measure is often used to assess how much uncertainty of the top event probability (Q) is attributable to the uncertainty of a basic event probability ($q_i$), and thus, to identify those basic events whose uncertainties need to be reduced to effectively reduce the uncertainty of Q. For evaluating the measures suggested by many authors which assess a percentage change in the variance V of Q with respect to unit percentage change in the variance $v_i$ of $q_i$, V and ${\partial}V/{\partial}v_i$ need to be estimated analytically or by Monte Carlo simulation. However, it is very complicated to analytically compute V and ${\partial}V/{\partial}v_i$ for large-sized fault trees, and difficult to estimate them in a robust manner by Monte Carlo simulation. In this paper, we propose a method for evaluating the measure using discretization technique and Monte Carlo simulation. The proposed method provides a stable uncertainty importance of each basic event.

Educational evaluation is not the work to rank learners hierarchically, but the thing to increase the educational effectiveness by solving a learner's problem and improving the education process from the proper evaluation. The conventional evaluation systems have measured a learner's recognition level by dichotomy. Although they support the evaluation depending on a learner's academic ability and supply the feedback for wrong selection, it is insufficient to take out study-motive and give the establishment for a guidance point of learning. In this paper, we propose the web-based individual adaptive testing system in considering partial score for a learner. Our system are effective to estimate the ability of learner by considering partial score in detail and offer an feedback study from the self-diagnosis function for a learning results.

This paper presents an ultra-low partial discharge(PD) measurement system that has been accepted as a non-destructive method to estimate electrical insulation of low-voltage electric devices. The PD measurement system is composed of a coupling network, a low noise amplifier, and associated electronics. A shielding box is used to make a better condition against electromagnetic interference. A low cut-off frequency of the coupling network was 1MHz(-3 dB). Calibration tests on laboratory set-up have shown that the PD measurement system has a stable sensitivity of 11.4mV/pC. In an application experiment on a low-voltage induction motor(5HP), we could detect 0.77pC level of partial discharge pulse at the applied voltage of AC 664 V$_{peak}$.
