LaFeO3 함량에 따른 (1-x)Bi0.5(Na0.78K0.22)0.5TiO3-xLaFeO3의 강유전, 압전 특성 (Effect of LaFeO3 Doping on the Ferroelectric and Piezoelectric Properties of Bi0.5(Na0.78K0.22)0.5TiO3 Lead-Free Piezoceramics)

  • $(1-x)Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.78}K_{0.22})_{0.5}TiO_3-xLaFeO_3$ ceramics were fabricated using a solid state reaction method. The microstructural, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and polarization hysteresis loops (P-E). XRD results indicated that BNKT ceramic crystal structure modified by $LaFeO_3$ was transformed from a ferroelectric tetragonal to a non-polar pesudo-cubic phase with increased $LaFeO_3$ content. The improved piezoelectric properties resulted from the addition of $LaFeO_3$ up to 3 mol%. The $LaFeO_3$ 3mol% sample showed markedly improved piezoelectric and strain behaviors in comparison with pure BNKT ceramic.

  • $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3$-based ceramics have been intensively studied as lead-free piezoelectric ceramics. In this study, the piezoelectric properties and phase transition behaviors of BNT based solid solution $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{1-x}Ca_xTiO_3$ ($X=0.01{\sim}0.25$) were investigated. The morphotropic phase boundary(MPB) zone which BNT is transformed from rhombohedral to cubic structure was appeared by adding $CaTiO_3$ with 0.12 mol by the measurement of permittivity and X-ray diffraction. The behavior which ferroelectric BNT with adding $CaTiO_3$ was changed to antiferroelectric and paraelectric state was confirmed by the measurement ofhysterisis loop and depolarization temperature as a function of temperature. As $CaTiO_3$ concentration was increased, the phase transition temperature was decreased. The piezoelectric properties were highest at 0.01 mol of $CaTiO_3$ concentration. The electromechanical coupling factor($K_t$) and mechanical quality factor($Q_m$) were 42% and 254, respectively.

  • [ $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3$ ](BNT) is considered to be an excellent candidate for the key material of lead-free piezoelectric ceramic due to properties of strong ferroelectricity with a relatively large remanent polarization $Pr=38{\mu}C/cm^2$, and a large coercive field, Ec=73KV/cm. In this study, electrical properties of pressure sensor using a $0.96Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.84}K_{0.16})_{0.5}TiO_3+0.04SrTiO_3+0.2wt%La_2O_3$ ceramics are investigated. Resonant frequency of pressure sensor was decreased with increasing pressure. However, its anti-resonant frequency was increased with increasing pressure.

  • PTC thermistor are characterized by an increase in the electrical resistance with temperature. The PTC materials of middle Curie point were produced or that of high Curie point (above $200^{\circ}C$), it was determined that compositional modifications of $Pb^{2+}$ for $Ba^{2+}$ produce change sin the Curie point to higher temperature. PTC ceramic materials with the Curie point above $120^{\circ}C$ were prepared by adding $PbTiO_3$, PbO or $Pb_3O_4$ into $BaTiO_3$. Thereby, adding $Pb^{2+}$ into $BaTiO_3$-based PTC material to improve Tc was studied broadly, however, weal know that PbO was poisonous and prone to volatilize, then to pollute the circumstance and hurt to people, so we should dope other innocuous additives instead of lead to increase Tc of composite PTC material. In order to prepare lead-free $BaTiO_3$-based PTC with middle Curie point, the incorporation on $Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2}TiO_3$ into $BaTiO_3$-based ceramics was investigated on samples containing 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 50mol% of $Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2}TiO_3$. $Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2}TiO_3$ was compounded as standby material by conventional solid-state reaction technique. The starting materials were $Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2}TiO_3$, $BaCO_3$, $TiO_2$ and $Y_2O_3$ powder, and using solid-state reaction method, too. The microstructures of samples were investigated by SEM, DSC, XRD and dielectric properties. Phase composition and lattice parameters were investigated by X-ray diffraction.

  • In this study, lead-free $(Na_{0.465}K_{0.465}Bi_{0.07})(Nb_{0.93}Ti_{0.07})O_3-0.08MnO_2$ ceramics were fabricated by conventional mixed oxide method. Structural and electrical properties of lead-free $(Na_{0.465}K_{0.465}Bi_{0.07})(Nb_{0.93}Ti_{0.07})O_3-0.08MnO_2$ ceramics with the variation of sintering temperature were investigated. As results of x-ray diffraction analysis, all specimens showed a typical polycrystalline perovskite structure without presence of the second phase. Sintered density increased with an increases of sintering temperature and the specimen sintered at $1,020^{\circ}C$ showed the maximum value of 4.5 $g/cm^3$. The average grain size of the $(Na_{0.465}K_{0.465}Bi_{0.07})(Nb_{0.93}Ti_{0.07})O_3-0.08MnO_2$ specimen sintered at $1,020^{\circ}C$ is about 0.83 ${\mu}m$. Electromechanical coupling factor, relative dielectric constant and dielectric loss of $(Na_{0.465}K_{0.465}Bi_{0.07})(Nb_{0.93}Ti_{0.07})O_3-0.08MnO_2$ specimens sintered at $1,020^{\circ}C$ were 0.252, 741 and 0.043% respectively.

마이크로파 소결법을 이용한 Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3계 적층형 세라믹 액추에이터 제조 (Preparation of Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3-Based Multilayer Ceramic Actuators Using Microwave Sintering)

  • A comparative study has been attempted for microwave and conventional sintering of lead-free $Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5}TiO_3(BNT)$-based multilayer ceramic actuators(MLAs). It was found that microwave sintering (MWS) could be successfully applied to the co-firing of piezoceramic/AgPd MLAs with a 10 times shorter firing cycle as well as $100^{\circ}C$ lower firing temperature ($850^{\circ}C$) for sufficient densification than conventional furnace sintering ($950^{\circ}C$). Furthermore, MWS-derived specimens showed better electric field-induced strain than that of CFS-derived specimens by effectively suppressing interdiffusions between ceramic and electrode layers.

  • To investigate excess $Na^+$ effect, $Bi_{0.5}(Na_{0.78+x}K_{0.22})_{0.5}TiO_3$ ($0{\leq}x{\leq}0.05$) (BNKT) ceramics were prepared by using a conventional solid-state reaction method. The structure and ferroelectric properties of BNKT ceramics were characterized by XRD (X-ray diffraction) and polarization dependence by external electric field. Also, the temperature dependence of dielectric constant and loss were studied. From these results, it was found that appropriate excess $Na^+$ into BNKT ceramics compensate the volatility and induce dense ceramics. The enhanced piezoelectric coefficient (158 pC/N) and depolarization temperature ($202^{\circ}C$) were obtained for the x=0.01 composition.

  • The heterolayered $BaTiO_3/(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ thick films were fabricated by screen printing techniques on alumina substrates electrodes with Pt. We report the improved ferroelectric properties in the heterolayered teteragonal/rhombohedral structure composed of the $BaTiO_3$ and the $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ thick films. We investigated the effects of deposition conditions on the structural and electrical properties of the heterolayered BNT/BT thick films. The structural and electrical properties of the heterolayered BNT/BT thick films were studied. All PZT heterolayered thin films show dense and homogeneous structure without the presence of the rosette structure. The dielectric constant, loss and remanent polarization oft heheterolayered BNT/BT thick films were superior to those of single composition $BaTiO_3$ and $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3$, and those values for the heterolayered BNT/BT thick films sintered at $1100^{\circ}C$ were 916, 0.79 and $12.63{\mu}C/cm^2$.

Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-BaTiO3 계에서 입자성장 및 고상단결정성장에 미치는 Na2CO3 첨가 효과 (Effect of Na2CO3 Addition on Grain Growth Behavior and Solid-state Single Crystal Growth in the Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-BaTiO3 System)

  • Grain-growth behavior in the $95Na_{1/2}Bi_{1/2}TiO_3-5BaTiO_3$ (mole fraction, NBT-5BT) system has been investigated with the addition of $Na_2CO_3$. When $Na_2CO_3$ is added to NBT-5BT, the growth rate is higher than desired and grains are already impinging each other during the initial stage of sintering. The grain size decreases as the sintering temperature increases. With the addition of $Na_2CO_3$, a liquid phase infiltrates the interfaces between grains during sintering. The interface structure can be changed to be more faceted and the interface migration rate can increase due to fast material transport through the liquid phase. As the sintering temperature increases, the impingement of abnormal grains increases because the number of abnormal grains increases. Therefore, the average grain size of abnormal grains can be decreased as the temperature increases. The phenomenon can provide evidence that grain coarsening in NBT-5BT with addition of $Na_2CO_3$ is governed by the growth of facet planes, which would occur via mixed control.
