This study is purposed to guide a right planning direction of public spaces in rural village. To do so, this study gives you the causes of transformation and the characteristics of the transformed public spaces in rural village. It classifies three different trends of transformed public spaces; increase, stagnation and decrease. In addition, they are related with rural population, farming types and the social consciousness. There are several characteristics of public spaces comparing before and after the transformation. Public spaces were used as small spaces, housing and farm lands before they were transformed. However, after the transformation, we could see that external spaces are augmented, public spaces are congregated and public facilities are increased.

The purpose of this study is to clarify the charactersitics of the social behaviors on the aged by the actual condition of the daily living activities in recuperation facilities. This paper tries to clarify the relationship between the social behaviors of the aged and the places in recuperation facilities. The thorough investigation and observation works were made to them from the view points of daily living behaviors and activities of the recuperating aged. The surveys on the day-time behaviors of residents(71 persons) were carried out in 4 recuperation facilities and 3 special nursing homes.

The purpose of this study is to understand and explain the traditional housing-culture in South East Asia, focused on the traditional Malay houses. The research objectives are : 1) to obtain informations related to the traditional Malay houses in West Malaysia. 2) to survey the traditional Malay houses in the selected area. 3) to understand their characteristics. It is expected that the traditional Malay houses were a major focal point of traditional Malay village society. The Malay houses provided the basic needs of shelter to the villagers. They were designed and built by villagers themselves, thus, manifestation of the creative and aesthetic skills of the community. Further, these houses reflect those factors including climate, geographical features, history of the region.

This study purposes to analyze the rural traditional houses which upper-class in Chosun Dynasty Investigation of arrangements and compositions based on theory of Yangtaeknon. 1) Feng-shui Theory : About people who have taker profits by the ground. 2) Eumtaeknon : Locating graveyards brings to the descendants profits. 3) Yangtaeknon : The descendants will have taken profits by arrangement forms of the house. This study has analyzed the traditional house by two methods. First method is study on arrangement forms, second is analysis based on the theory of Yangtaeknon.

Korean modern houses should admit modern requirement, Korean climate and way of living. These elements should be expressed through not only plan but also form and design. The aim of this thesis is to understand the expression tendency of the traditional design elements in idyllic houses. For this purpose, I investigated following things : 1) The culture and social theory about the tradition and the design elements. 2) The concept of Korean traditional design elements and factors as the design elements sources. 3) The methods of Korean traditional design elements expressed in idyllic houses. As a result, the methods of traditional reception can be classified as copying, eclecticism and abstraction.

The change of social consciousness and culture induce increasing needs of funeral ceremony hall. This study analysed the equipments standards of funeral ceremony hall, and the procedure of each ritual formalities, then surveyed nine cases. As a result, the forms of mortuary are identical despite the needs of plans by religions and rites. This study recognized the needs of mortuary plans by religions, and purposed to plan each religion's mortuary based on funeral ceremony hall after this.

This study aims to clarify the characteristics of townhouse corresponding to the changing life style for the future, and suited to the small and medium urban areas of Korea(focused on Chongju area) from its traditionality and regionality's point of view. The results of this study are as follows; 1. The traditional design elements of Chongju area : 1) A court; a court of inner building - light, wind. 2) A balcony; intermediate space, cornice. 3) Eave line; a horizontal line for approach. 2. The regional design elements of Chongju area : 1) Maintenance of skyline which had the same building height as strip of road. 2) The formal spatial design elements to think about natural view. 3) Simple appearance and delicate detail.

Kurye-gun, which Hwaeomsa temple is located, has huge scale's geographical characteristics, such as mountains, rivers and open fields. This is really blessing area because of Som-jin river at the bottom of Ghiri mountain and open fields, which this situation is very difficult. The location of Hwaeomsa temple is an end of The Baek-Doo Mountains and very important spot(where influences to its geometric converge) of the theory of feng-shui. On exposure logic of the Korean traditional theory of feng-shui, the organization in Ga-Ram of Hwaeomsa temple is inconsistent with representative theory and analyzing system. So, this is one of successful examples with the theory of feng-shui because exhalation from the earth and water was organized well with accuracy.

In the organizing principle of Hwaeomsa temple, we could see the procedure of absorption and combination on folk beliefs and Buddhism like other temples. One of Representative folk beliefs took in and combined in its temple is Sam-Sung-Gak, which is located at the same place with Won-Tong-Geon. And Myong-Bu-Geon is affected by the Ten-Kings belief of Taoism very deeply, is also very rare folk belief case grown naturally. The diversification of Buddhist sanctum' function is absorption and combination between proper belief for the Buddhist Goddess of Mercy and folk native beliefs.
