Objectives To research oriental medical treatments for diabetic nephropathy by literature study Methods We reviewed oriental medical book concerning the diabetic nephropathy. Results & Conclusions 1. The diabetic nephropathy has relation to edema, dizziness, exhaustion of strenght, obstruction and rejection among the transformations of emaciation and thirst. 2. The causes of diabetic nephropathy are dry heat caused congenital defect, mental depression and greasy diet damages liquid nutrients and thereafter Gi and Yang deficiency produces blood stagnation, dampness and phlegm-turbidity. 3. The medical treatments are invigorating Gi, promoting blood flow to remove blood stasis and removing dampness through diuresis. The frequently used herb are Radix Astragali, Poria, Fructus Corni, Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae, etc. and Dansam is meanigfull of all herbs for invigorating blood and dispelling blood stagnation.

Objectives We got a good effect on one patient who diagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis after cystostomy. Methods The patient was treated with Acupuncture, Herbal medication, Venesection. To evaluate the edema, pain of leg, Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and the measurement of leg circumference are used. Results 1. The discrepancy of the leg circumference is decreased from 3.1㎝ to 1.6㎝. 2. The Visual Analogue Scale was decreased from 10 to 2-1. Conclusions In this case, the patient who diagnosed Deep Vein Thrombosis(DVT) after cystostomy treated by Acupuncture, Herbal medication, Venesection was improved. We are reporting this case.

Central cord syndrome (CCS) is the most common incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI) syndrome, occured by cervical hyperextension injury. It is characterized by disproportionately greater motor impairment in the upper extremities compared to the lower extremities, bladder dysfunction, and variable degrees of sensory loss below the level of injury. Recently 36 year-old male was admitted with upper motor neuron weakness, sensory loss in the upper extremities and stiff neck. We report the improvement of his symptoms through both western medical treatment and oriental medical treatment.

Objectives To observe relationship between BMD(BMD; bone mineral density) and lipid metabolic indicator which consists of cholesterol, HDL(HDL; high density lipoprotein), Trigliceride which influenced by BMI(BMI; body mass index), BFR(body fat rate) indirectly and directly in both ways. Methods Among 120 old patients aging above 65 who admitted to Dep. of Oriental Rehabilitation, Jeon-Ju Oriental Medical Hospital, Won Kwang University in order to prevent demetia and CVA from Mar. 2004 to May 2005 correlationship between BMI, BFR, BMD etc. and lipid metabolic indicator was statistically analysed. Results BMD of male patient was higher than that of female patients and body weight, height, BFR, BMI was significantly related to BMD as well. Relationship between Total Cholesterol, HDL, Triglyceride and BMD was not significant. Conclusions From the above results, Relationship between Total Cholesterol, HDL, Triglyceride and BMD was not significant.

Objective It is difficult medicine pass by prostatic barrier. so prostatis is charaterized as relatively incurable illness. Neverthless in chronic prostatis, there is improvement of symptom and blood test numberical index by hominis placenta herbal-acupunture. The purpose of this report is evaluate of improvement of symptom and blood test numberical index by hominis placenta herbal-acupunture Method We observed 2 chronic proststis patient for 6 months. It is evaluate of treatment effect by NIH-chronic prostatis symptom index(CPSI) and expressed prostatic secretion(EPS) per 1month. Result The hominis placenta herbal-acupunture therapy is effective to treat chronic proststis. NIH-CPSI and EPS WBC were decreased considrably.

Objectives To evaluate the treatment effect of Bee-venom Acupuncture on Neck Pain by Traffic Accidents, which is well known for anti-inflammatory effect and function of activating immune system. Methods We investigated 33 cases of patients with Neck Pain by Traffic Accidents by soft tissue injury. One group was treated by Bee-venom Acupuncture therapy, the other group was treated by General Acupuncture therapy . We evaluated the treatment effect of each group by Treatment Days & Number of Times, Distribution of Clinical evaluation grade, Visual Analog Scale before and after Treatment.

Objectives The aim of this study is to evaluate effects of hard board applied to acute low back pain patient by using Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Pain Rating Score(PRS). Methods From March. 2005 to October. 2005, 20 cases of acute low back pain were divided into 2 groups in sequence. Control group took a rest on the bed(marble-sponge mattress) and sample group took a rest on the hard board. Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) and Pain Rating Score(PRS) were used to assess the change of pain. VAS and PRS were checked 3 times before the treatment, after 3day treatment and 6day treatment. Results 1. After 3day and 6day treatment, there was statistical significance between control and sample group by VAS. 2. After 3day and 6day treatment, there was statistical significance between control and sample group by PRS. Conclusions On treating acute low back pain, it is more effective taking a rest on the hard board than taking a rest on the bed. Further study is needed about effects of hard board applied to acute low back pain patient.

The findings from this study are summarized as follows: 1. Hangul 2004 has 16,023 Chinese Character codes. Among them, 15,231 Chinese Character codes are searched by DB, the others are unsearchable codes. 2. Among 15,231 Chinese Character codes of Hangul 2004, 2,471 Chinese Character codes are converted into 2,232 Simplified Chinese Character codes by Traditional and Simplified Chinese Character Converting program in Hangul 2004. 3. The 5th edition TCM-MeSH has 6,385 thesauruses and 2,142 kinds of Chinese Characters. 4. If we use Simplified Chinese Character of Hangul 2004 to search for TCM-MeSH, we will find 94.3% of TCM-MeSH. But If we use Traditional Chinese Character of Hangul 2004 to search for TCM-MeSH, we will find only 34.2% of TCM-MeSH.
