The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of the relationship between several factors representing perceived port service quality and the adaptability to the marketing strategy of container terminal. An empirical study was carried out to examine not only the determinants of port service quality using PZB's SERVQUAL model but also its implications to the service marketing strategy. The data investigating the determinants of port service quality were collected from 136 managers from shipping companies by the use of questionnaire method. Factor analysis and t-test were carried out to analyze the data. The results of this study were as follows ; First, Shipping companies perceive the port service quality on two the dimensions of personnel and material aspects. Second, Shipping companies put more emphasis on the reliance of port service quality even though the port authority offers good facilities and materials as parts of port shipping quality. Third, There is a significant relationship between the purchase intention and the customer satisfaction. These findings help not only to formulate service marketing strategy based on service quality but also to be a concept tool to enhance port service quality.

The purpose of this study is to improve the strategies for transportation systems of container cargoes in Busan port. Therefore, container cargoes forecasting is done through logistic methods based on past trends. In 2011, container cargoes demand was forecasted 8.791 million TEU(T/S including 12.559 million TEU). In order to improve transportation systems of container cargoes, the conclusions of this study can be summarized as follows ; \circled1 port facilities expansion, \circled2 diversity of container transport modes, \circled3 make up ICD and exclusive container roads, \circled4 the second Seoul-Busan Expressway.

In order to deal with the increase of container cargo traffic volume more effectively, the ministry of maritime affairs & fisheries has a long-term plan to develop Gaduk Island. According to the plan, the New Port will handle 4,600,00TEUs annually. The completion of the project will enable the port of Busan to perform as a hub port in the Asia Pacific era of the year 2000 with sufficient port facilities, and this will lead to a new era of oceanic Korea. With the advent of the Pacific Rim Era of the year 2000, Busan metropolis has set a strategic development plan to establish the area as the center of logistics in the noreast Asian region as well as to become the stronghold of economic activity in Korea's southeast region. To this end, industries that will open the doors to a marine era and a new industrial complex focused on logistics are planned in the West Busan area where Gimhae International Airport and the Busan New Port meet. This paper aims to find out the functional relation and complement between the Busan New Port Distri-Park handing container cargo traffic volume and the West Busan Logistics Pa가 handling an air cargo and railroad goods. Especially, paper aims to suggest the West Busan Logistics Park as the efficient management of the container cargo traffic volume due to the Development Plan of the Busan New Port.

Fuzzy logic control(FLC) is composed of three parts : fuzzy rule-bases, membership functions, and scaling factors. Well-defined fuzzy rule-base should contain proper physical intuition on the plant, so are needed lots of experiences of the skillful expert. When membership functions are considered, some parameters on the memberships function such as function shape, support, allocation density should be selected well. The rule of scaling factors is 'scaling'(amplifying or reducing) for both input and output signals of the FLC to fit in the membership function support and to operate the plant intentionally. To get a better performance of the FLC, it is necessary to adjust the parameters of the FLC. In general, the adaptation of the scaling factors is the most effective adjustment scheme, compared with that of the fuzzy rule-base or membership function parameters. This study proposes the adaptation scheme of the scaling factors. When the adaptation is performed on-line, the stability of the adaptive FLC should be guaranteed. The stable FLC system can be designed with stability analysis in the sense of Lyapunov stability. To adapt the scaling factors for the error signals, the concept of the conventional MRAC would be introduced into slightly modified form. A tracking accuracy of the control system would be enhanced by the modified shape and support of the membership function. The simulation is achieved on the pilot plant with the hydraulic steering control of a UCT(Unmanned Container Transporter) of which modeling dynamics have lots of severe uncertainties and modeling errors.

A numerical model for practical use based on the 1-line theory is presented to simulate shoreline changes due to construction of offshore structures. The shoreline change model calculates the longshore sediment transport rate using breaking waves. Before the shoreline change model execution, a wave model, adopting the modified Boussinesq equation including the breaking parameters and bottom friction term, was used to provide the longshore distribution of the breaking waves. The contents of present model are outlined first. Then to examine the characteristics of this model, the effects of the parameters contained in this model are clarified through the calculations of shoreline changes for simple cases. Finally, as the guides for practical application of this model, several comments are made on the parameters used in the model, such as transport parameter, average beach slope, breaking height variation alongshore, depth of closure, etc. with the presentation of typical examples of 3-dimensional movable bed experimental results for application of this model. Here, beach change behind the offshore structures is represented by the movement of the shoreline position. Analysis gives that the transport parameters should be taken as site specific parameters in terms of time scale for the shoreline change and adjusted to achieve the best agreement between the calculated and the observed near the structures.

In the past, the predictions of beach processes and harbor sedimentation were mainly relied on the hydraulic model tests and empirical methods. In recent years, however, as computers have come into wide use, more accurate models have gradually been developed and thus replaced those conventional methods. For prediction of topographical change near the coastal area, we need informations of wave and current conditions in the numerical model which should be calculated in advance. Numerical model introduced in this study combines wave refraction-diffraction, breaking, bottom friction, lateral mixing, and critical shear stress and three sub-models for simulating waves, currents, and bottom change were briefly discussed. Simulations of beach processes and harbor sedimentation were also described at the coast neighboring Bangpo Harbor, Anmyundo, Chungnam, where the area has suffered accumulation of drifting sand in a small fishing harbor with a wide tidal range. We also made model test for the new layout of the harbor and planned south breakwater for preventing intrusion of sand. Although the model study gave reasonable description of beach processes and harbor sedimentation mechanism, it is necessary to collect lots of field observation data, including waves, tides and bottom materials, etc. for better prediction.

Accuracy of dredging processes depends on the types of equipment used, the sediments encountered, whether the work to be performed is new or maintenance dredging, pre- and post-hydrographic surveying and so forth. Among those, position surveying accuracy which is directly determined by the control of the dredge's position and depth surveying accuracy being surveyed at the dredging point during dredging work are important factors. The purpose of this study is to develop 'Dredge Management System'for Grab dredge which is composed of 4 sub-system using LADGPS for dredge position determining system and dredging point determining system, tide gauge system and optical sensor for depth determining system and GIS and ENC for total management system. This system is installed on the grab dredge 'EUNJIN G-18'and applied to anchorage dredging work. at Pohang Harbor. The results revealed that this system is easy to operate, achieves good accuracy with only 45cm unevenness, reduces working period by 22 percent and saves cost 16.6 percent.

The calculation of earthwork plays a major role in plan or design of many civil engineering projects, and thus it has become very important to advanced the accuracy of earthwork calculation. Current method used for estimating the volume of pit excavation assumes that the ground profile between the grid points is linear(trapezoidal rule), or nonlinear(simpson's formulas). In this paper the spot height method, least square method, and chamber formulas, Chen and Lin method are compared with the volumes of the pits in these examples. As a result of this study, algorithm of chen and Lin me쇙 by spline method should provide a better accuracy than the spot height method, least square method, chamber formulas. The Chen and Lin formulas can be used for estimating the excavation volume of a pit divide into a grid with unequal intervals. From the characteristics of the cubic spline polynomial, the modeling curve of the Chen and Lin method is smooth and matches the ground profile well. Generally speaking, the nonlinear profile formulas provide better accuracy than the linear profile formulas. The mathematical model mentioned make an offer maximum accuracy in estimating the volume of a pit excavation.

An on-line refractrometer made of easily obtainable materials is built to determine the salinity and temperature of sea water, and its performance is examined by applying the refractometer to known salt solution. Since refractive index and temperature are measured simultaneously, it is possible to compensate the effect of temperature for accurate measurement. The outcome of salinity measurement for the different concentrations of salt solution indicates that the device is suitable for the salinity measurement by yielding stable and reproducible reading.

Disaster mitigation, especially as a concept similar to damage mitigation caused by heavy rainfalls and flood is closely related to long-term development plan. This plan of an harbor area where is located in lower region is established and carried under consideration of disaster mitigation concept such as internal drainage and so on. Flood damage is somewhat predictable in accordance with height, stream and rainfall characteristics of the region. Therefore it is necessary to establish national and urban plan under consideration of this fact. But this consideration of existing regulation and institution is insufficient and improvement of regulation and institution is needed. This consideration of disaster mitigation fields is regulated declaratively and inclusively in national plan which is established in broad region, and specifically and detailedly in urban plan which is established in narrow region. The program to improve regulation and institution is proposed in order to consider disaster mitigation fields as a level of this plan.
