This paper presents the theoretical derivaion relating and image correlationcoeffcient capable of assessing image quality, with phase-error variance in antenna aperture domain. We show that when the phase-error variance of a range bin selected as an adaptive beamformer is known, the quality of the reconstructed image is predictable and moreover, the resultant correlation coeffcient is obviously greater than the derive dlower boudn. To support the derivation, real data are used for image formation where the dominant scatterer algorithm (DSA) is applied for phase compensations.

A modern electronic system located at a certain distance form the discharge may respond with unexpected sensitivity ot that phenomenon, even if the phenomenon is so slight as to have been ignored in the port. It has been found that electromagnetic wave energy is emitted as a results of this electrostatic discharge between metallic objects. In order to theoretically examine the peculiar phenomenon, we propose an analytical approach to model the indirect ESD effect. A soruce model is given here using the spark resistence presented by rompe-weizel. A model experiment for indirect eSD is also conducted to express ESD detection rate by the statistical estimation. We verify that the statistical estimations agree the theoretical curve resulted from the rompe-weisel resistence.

An MMIC downconverting mixer for cellular phone application has been successfully developed using an MMIC process including $1 \mu\textrm{m}$ ion implanted gaAs MESFET and passive lumped elements consisting of spiral inductor, $Si_3N_4$ MIM capacitor and NiCr resistor. The configuration of the mixer presented in this paper is single-ended dual-gate FET mixer with common-source self-bias circuits for single power supply operation. The dimension of the fabricated circuit is $1.4 mm \times 1.03 mm $ including all input matching circuits and a mixing circuit. The conversion gian and noise figure of the mixer at LO powr of 0 dBm are 5.5dB and 19dB, respectively. The two-tone IM3 characteristics are also measured, showing -60dBc at RF power of -30dBm. Allisolations between each port show better than 20dB.

A new design method of stable RF power amplifier using 3dB coupled line is proposed in this thiesis. The proposed method of broadband matching consist of resistive matching circuits at low frequency and lossless matching circuits at microwave band. This design method increase the stability of an amplifier and is suitable for interstage matching. When high power amplifier is designed using this method for PCS base transceiver station, the measured resutls show thst the gain of 18.5dB, and 9W (39.5dBm) output power. We use motorola's MRF6401 for medium power and MRF 6402 for large power and cascaded them.

A characteristic mode analysis of parallel-plate waveguide with finite number of slot as a leaky wav eantenna structure is considered for calculating the characteristics currents, the characteristic patterns, radiatin patterns, and the complex propagation constants. For the cases of 1, 11 and 29 slots, numericl resutls for the equivalent magnetic currents, the radiatin patterns, and thecomplex propagation constants are computed and compared with those obtained by use of the conventional method of moments. Good correspondence between them is observed.

An analysis method for the electromagnetic scattering of a gaussian beam wave by finite periodic conducting strip grating on a groudned dielectric slab is considered. The intergral equation for the unknown current induced on the conducting strip surface is derived and solbed numerically by use of the method of moment. From knowledge of the strip current, the quantities of interest such as radiation pattern, the space wave power radiated into the free space, and the coupled surface wave power propagating along the dielectric slab are computed for the appropriately chosen parametes Some similarity between scattering behaviours of the present geometry and the infinite geometry is examined by observing the Off-bragg as well as bragg blaxing penomena in both geometries.The validity of the numerical results are assured by a check of the power conservation relations.

In this paper, we present a 20 GHz low-loss dual-mode channel filter designed by using mode matching method. The performance of dual-mode channel filter mainly depends on iris characteristics. Therefore the exact design of iris is the key point to get good frequncy response of the filter. MOde matching technique is widely used ot design several kinds of waveguide filters because it is simple in theory and can easily calculate the scattering matrices at the discontinuities with simple structure like iris coupled filters. Additionally the effect for finite thickness of the iris in the dual-mode cavity iflter is analyzed by te full-wave method, providing the exact filter implementation without trial and error.

This paper presents a 3-D finite difference time domain (FDTD) method used for indoor propagation simulations where the electromagnetic wav eis uniformly excited on th eone of the wall in a building and affected by an indoor obstacles. In cases of simulation and measurement, the frequency of 851 MHz is used. The conductivities of walls, floor, ceiling and indoor obstacles are measured and used for simulations. These simulations are carried out using different boundary condition such as mur's absorbing boundary condition (ABC) and perfectly matched layer (PML) technique. The PML technique is found to be well-suited to this analysis because of it's smaller computational domain than mur's ABC. The measured signal strengths are compared to simulated values with good agreement.

In this paper, design parameters of rapid thermal processing(RTP) to minimize the wafer temperature uniformity errors are proposed. Lamp ring positions and the wafer height are important parameters for wafer temperature uniformity in RTP. We propose the method to seek lamp ring positions and the wafer gheight for optimal temperature uniformity. The proposed method is applied to seek optimal lamp ring positions and the wafer feight of 8 inch wafer. To seek the optimal lamp ring positions and the wafer height, we vary lamp ring positions and the wafer height and then formulate the wafer temperature uniformity problem to the linear programming problem. Finally, it is shown that the wafer temperature uniformity in RTP designed by optimal problem. Finally, it is hsown that the wafer temperature uniformity is RTP designed by optimal parameters is improved to comparing with RTP designed by the other method.

The refractive index changes due to the electroptic effect are discussed when external electric fields $E_x, E_y, E_2$ are applied on $LiNbO_3$, a typical anisotropic material. Derived are approximate equations for principal axis' rotations and index changes, results of which are compared with exact results by te computer simulations. In each useful application of $LiNbO_3$substrate, the results of the approximate equations are confirmed to agree with exact solutions.

For a InGaAsP buried - heterostructrue $1.3\mu\textrm{m}$ LD with fabry-perot cavity structure, the procedures of ultra-short optical pulse genration ar eanalyzed by simulating the rate equations. Investigting the effects of injected current pulse parameters such as bias $J_b$, pulse width $T_d$ and pulse amplitude $J_p$ on the generated optical pulses, we derive the optimum conditions to obtain a single optical pulse with strong peak value. We also observe that the repetition rate of current pulses needs to be restricted under a certain threshold to generate a train of single optical pulses, and that the period doubling phenomenon takes place by increasing the repitition rate.
