Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of manual therapy on constipation in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods We searched electronic databases (PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CAJ, KISS, KISTI, KMBASE, NDSL, OASIS, and RISS) for randomized controlled trials for manual therapy on constipation in patients with Parkinson's disease. Results Three randomized controlled trials were selected from the online database. One study demonstrated that manual therapy had positive results compared to routine nursing care with western medication. However, two studies demonstrated that manual therapy had no positive results compared to routine nursing care with western medication or western medication when used alone. Conclusions Our systematic review did not verify the clinical effect of manual therapy on constipation in patients with Parkinson's disease. Thus, more high-quality studies are needed to verify the effectiveness of manual therapy for constipation in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Objectives This study verified the clinical effectiveness of Qigong exercise therapy for individuals with hypertension. Methods Ten electronic databases were used for information retrieval. Only randomized controlled trials (RCTs) using Qigong exercise therapy as a treatment for hypertension were included in this study. Cochrane risk of bias tool was used to assess the methodological quality of each RCT. Results After a thorough review, six RCTs were deemed eligible. These studies were divided into two groups: Qigong vs. no intervention and Qigong plus anti-hypertensive drug vs. anti-hypertensive drug alone. Among the six RCTs, four studies were Qigong vs. no intervention, and two studies were Qigong plus anti-hypertensive drug vs. anti-hypertensive drug alone. The meta-analysis demonstrated that adding Qigong exercise to anti-hypertensive drug treatment lowers diastolic blood pressure more than the anti-hypertensive drug alone. Conclusions Although Qigong exercise is not widely used in the Korean medical field, the results of this study demonstrated the necessity of exercise while controlling hypertension. However, the number of included studies was small, with their high risk of bias. In conclusion, although it is difficult to determine whether Qigong exercise lowers blood pressure in hypertensive patients, exercise including Qigong must be parallel with the intake of anti-hypertensive drugs.

Objectives This study was conducted to survey the trends of Korean medicine clinical research using radiological measurements of the musculoskeletal system. Methods We searched four domestic research databases (OASIS, NDSL, RISS, KISS) and three academic journals (Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation, The Journal of Korea CHUNA Manual Medicine for Spine & Nerves, and Journal of Acupuncture Research). Selected studies were classified by publishing year, journal, the purpose of studies, and body region mainly researched in studies. Additionally, we analyzed the radiological measurements used in each body region. Results A total of 80 studies were selected. Most of the studies were published since2000. Most studies were published in the Journal of Korean Medicine Rehabilitation. The mainly researched body region was the lumbar spine. The main purpose of the studies was to analyze the characteristics of the disease. Conclusions Further research is needed about other different fields of Korean Medicine using X-ray on various body region and studies with purpose of analyzing radiological measurements need to be researched more.

Objectives The purpose of this report was to study the circulation of meridian WiGi, YoungGi, from the viewpoint of manual medicine. Methods First, the Korean Medical approach analyzes documents about the circulation of meridian WiGi, YoungGi, and the biomechanical approach is to analyze documents about kinetic force and kinematic movement. The third inherent energy approach is to analyze documents about craniosacral rhythm and visceral motility. Finally, it is to study the correlation between the circulation of meridian WiGi, YoungGi, and the viewpoint of biomechanics force and movement, the inherent energy of manual medicine. Results Meridian WiGi is fast, powerful, and changeful. It circulates through the head and extremities in the daytime and visceral organs at night. The deviation pelvis and distorted thoracic cage create kinetic force and kinematic movement. Meridian YoungGi is very small and soft energy and circulates meridians and visceral organs permanently. Craniosacral rhythm and visceral motility radiate continuously from cranial and visceral organs to the whole body. Conclusions Circulation of meridian WiGi is closely related to the biomechanical approach. In addition, circulation of meridian YoungGi is closely related to the inherent energy approach.

Objectives The purpose of this review was to analyze the trend of clinical research related to fibromyalgia and to suggest the direction of intervention Methods We reviewed the clinical research by searching seven Korean web databases and classified the studies by the year of publication, academic field, and study design. Results A total of 75 clinical studies were selected. Except for 2002, more than one study was annually published; however, the number was below 10. In the academic field, there were 34 in the medical field, 21 in the Korean medicine field, and 15 in the nursing science field. By study design, there were 62 observational studies, mostly case reports and case-control studies. There were 13 experimental studies, including non-random control studies and one group pre and post-test design studies. Conclusions Fibromyalgia-related clinical research requires a greater number of studies, and a study design with a high level of evidence should be conducted along with various observational and intervention studies. Additionally, multidisciplinary and integrated intervention plans and research are needed.

연구 목적 이 연구는 내측 반월상 연골판 손상으로 인한 무릎 통증을 호소하는 5명의 환자에서 한의학적 치료, 특히 신바로 약침으로 인한 통증 개선이 있었기에 보고함이다. 연구 방법 무릎 통증으로 본원 입원치료를 받은 환자 중, MRI 영상 검사상 내측 반월상 연골 파열 진단을 받은 환자들의 차트를 분석하였다. 슬관절 통증 호전 및 기능 개선은 Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC Index), 슬관절 Range Of Motion(ROM) 및 special tests 측정으로 판단하였다. 연구 결과 5증례에서 NRS는 평균 3.4의 호전, WOMAC Index는 평균 64.4%의 호전을 보였다. 슬관절 ROM 측정에서 환자 모두 입원시보다 증가되었으나, 무릎에 손상에 사용되는 보편적 검사인 Stress valgus, Stress varus, Drawer test, Apley compression test, Mcmurray's test 상 전후비교에서 4명의 환자는 호전되었고, 1명 환자에서는 변화가 없었다. 결과 이 연구는 내측 반월상 연골판 손상에 대한 신바로 약침을 포함한 한의학적 치료 후 단기간 내 통증 및 기능 향상을 보여주었다.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of spinal mobilization with leg movement (SMWLM) using Korean Medicine treatment on acute lower limb muscle weakness through four case studies. Methods SMWLM, with other Korean Medicine treatments, was performed on four patients who underwent treatment at OOOO Korean Medicine Hospital from August 2017 to July 2018. Additionally, results of the Numerical Rate Scale(NRS), EuroQol-FiveDimensions(EQ-5D),Oswestry lowback pain disability questionnaire(ODI), Straight Leg Raise(SLR) test, and Manual Muscle Test(MMT) were evaluated. Results There was a significant increase in NRS, ODI, and EQ-5D scales with im-rovements of SLR angle and MMT figures to a normal range. Conclusions This study suggested that Korean Medicine treatment combined with SMWLM may affect treating acute lower limb muscle weakness. Further clinical studies are needed to establish a definite conclusion.

경골 고평부 골절로 인하여 수술을 경험한 환자 2명을 대상으로 관절가동 추나, 근막 추나, 침, 한약 치료를 시행한 결과 무릎관절 가동범위가 증가하고, 통증이 감소하고, 근력이 증가한 결과를 얻었다.
