A Comparative Analysis on Training Status to Enhance Digital and Artificial Intelligence Capacity for Elementary School Teachers

Abstract

The purpose aims to analyze and discuss the comparative training status of elementary school in-service teachers as teacher education for fostering digital and artificial intelligence talents becomes essential. We standardized the current data of domestic AI and digital training institutions by a training period. We compared the training contents into four categories (AI understanding, AI utilization, programming, and edutech). The analysis results are as follows: First, local provincial education departments provided the most elementary teacher training. Second, edutech training was the most popular among the four types of training. Third, elementary teacher training is offered in the form of face to face training and distance training. Fourth, elementary teacher training is increasingly blended with AI. In future training, the classes of practical tasks such as programming should be organized as face to face training according to their needs. In addition, the blended training would be desirable to conduct the classes of theoretical knowledge.

본 논문은 디지털·인공지능 인재 양성을 위한 교원교육이 중요해짐에 따라 초등 현직 교원의 코로나 직후 2년간 연수 현황을 비교 분석 및 논의하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해, AIEDAP과제의 일환으로 국내AI ·디지털 관련 연수기관들의 현황자료를 수집하여 연수 기간별로 표준화하고, 연수 내용을 네 가지(AI 이해, AI 활용, 프로그래밍, 에듀테크)로 분류하여 비교 분석하였다. 분석 결과로 시도교육청이 초등교원 연수를 가장 많이 운영하였으며, 코로나 이듬해에는 4가지 연수 내용 중 교육분야의 신기술 관련된 에듀테크 연수가 가장 많이 개설되어 인공지능 연수를 위한 기초과정으로 운영된 것으로 나타났다. 또한 초등교원의 집합 연수와 원격연수 형태로 나뉘어 이루어지다 점차 블렌디드의 비중이 점차 늘어나고 있다. 향후 연수에서는 초등교원의 요구에 따라 프로그래밍과 같이 실습이 중요한 연수는 집합 연수로 운영되고 AI 이론 연수는 원격연수로 운영하는 블렌디드 형태로 운영하는 것이 바람직할 것으로 기대된다.
