기형도 시에 나타난 트라우마 양상 - ‘위험한 가계·1969’를 중심으로 -

A Stud on the Patterns of Trauma in the Poetry of Gi Hyeong-do - With a focus on ‘The Dangerous Lineage․1969’ -

이 논문은 기형도 시에 나타난 트라우마 양상에 대한 연구문이다. 기형도는 1985년 동아일보 신춘문예「안개」로 당선된 이후, 문예지에 시를 발표하며 1980년대 시단에서 독창적인 영역을 구축했다. 그가 본격적으로 문단활동을 한 기간은 5년에 불과하지만 그의 작품은 다양한 시각에서 연구되고 있다. 평자들마다 조금씩 이해를 달리하고 있으나 연구의 대부분이 자연인 기형도의 죽음과 연관성을 갖는 전기적 사실에 바탕을 두고 있다. 다양한 논의에도 불구하고 기형도 시의 본질적인 특성인 트라우마(trauma)에 접근한 연구가 본질적으로 이루어지지 않았다. 본고에서는 이에 주안점을 두고 정신분석학과 언어학적인 이론을 원용하여 텍스트를 분석하였다. 문학 연구의 가장 기본적인 사항이 텍스트가 기본이지만 부분적으로 기형도의 삶과 연계시켜 트라우마 양상을 연구하였다. 트라우마란 전쟁이나 어떤 강력한 사건 혹은 외부의 강력한 물리적 충격으로 마음 속에 깊이 각인된 상처이다. 이 상처는 치유되지 않고 고착되어 성격 발전을 저해하고 왜곡시켜 현재의 삶을 방해하는 원인이 된다. 그것은 <반복/성>과 <강박/성>을 특징으로 하는데, 기형도 시에 나타난 트라우마 양상은「위험한 가계․1969」(1986)에서 기인한다.「위험한 가계․1969」의 작품은 대체적으로 회상 구조 방식으로 대상을 감각화하고 있으나 시인의 내면에 은폐되어 있는 삶의 비밀들을 이해하는 중요한 열쇠가 되고 있다. 특히 작품 곳곳에서 반복, 교체하며 나타나는 어둡고 우울한 풍경의 이미지들은 기형도의 내면화된 아픔의 깊이와 동궤를 이루고 있어 시인의 내적욕망과 세계관을 밝히는데 귀중한 자료가 되고 있다. 본고에서는 이러한 점에 바탕을 두고 기형도의 작품 근저에 깔려 있는 트라우마 양상과 그 요소들이 시에서 어떻게 구현되고 있는지 세 개의 층위로 구분하여 살펴보았다. 먼저 <원체험으로서의 트라우마>는 자전적인 요소를 담고 있는 부분이고, <분리불안으로서의 트라우마>는 사후 작용에 의해 트라우마가 재구성된 부분이며, <유폐된 존재로서의 트라우마>는 죽음으로 전이되는 우울증적 요소를 담고 있는 작품들이다. 기존의 연구들이 비극적인 세계관과 기법적 측면에서 논의가 진행되었다면 본고에서는 자전적인 경험과 사후 작용에 의해 반복되는 트라우마 양상에 바탕을 두고 시적 의미를 고찰하였다. 그 이유는「위험한 가계․1969」에 나타난 트라우마의 기억 흔적이 다른 기억 흔적과의 관계에 의해서 재구성되어 형상화되고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 기형도의 작품 세계의 근간이자 출발점이 되고 있는「위험한 가계․1969」를 논의한다는 것은 의미 있는 작업이 될 것이라고 생각한다.

This paper presents a research on the patterns of trauma in thepoems of Gi Hyeong-do, who made his debut with his The Fog in aspring literary contest by Dong-A Ilbo in 1985 and established his ownunique domain in the poetic circles of the 1980s by publishing his poemsin literary magazines. Even though he was active in full scale in theliterary circles only for five years, his works have been studies fromvarious perspectives. Most of the studies are based on a biographic factrelated to the death of the natural man Gi Hyeong-do with subtledifferences in understanding among critics. Although there have beendiverse discussions, there is no essential research approaching trauma,one of the fundamental characteristics of his poetry. Focusing on thesituation, the stud analyzed his texts by quoting theories ofpsychoanalysis and linguistics. While the most basic item in literaryresearch is texts, the stud investigated the patterns of trauma byconnecting them to his life partially.The trauma is deeply imprinted in the hearts of the physical impactof war or any violent incidents outside the wound. The wound is nothealing, it is a cause to interfere with the lives of the current fixation,distort and hinder the development of the personality. It is characterizedby compulsive and repeatability. Traumatic aspects that appear in Gi Hyeong-do poem, start the ‘The Dangerous Lineage.1969 (1986)’. Itmostly sensationalizes the objects in a structure of recollection, being animportant key to the understanding of secrets of life hidden inside.Especially the images of dark and gloomy landscape appearing in turnsrepetitively throughout the work have the same depth as his internalizedpain and are accordingly regarded as critical data to understand hisinternal desires and world views.Based on those findings, the stud examined how the patterns andelements of trauma scattered at the bottom of his works were embodiedin them in three layers. "Trauma as an original experience" containsautobiographical elements, "Trauma as separation anxiety" reorganizes atrauma by a deferred action, and "Trauma as a confined being"represents his works containing depression elements transferred todeath. While the previous studies made a discussion with a tragic viewof the world and aspect of techniques, the stud examined poeticmeanings based on the patterns of trauma repeating throughautobiographical experiences and deferred actions because the memorytraces of trauma in ‘The Dangerous Lineage․1969’ are reorganized andembodied by their relations with other memory traces. It will be ameaningful attempt to discuss his ‘The Dangerous Lineage․1969’ thatis the foundation and starting point of the world of his works.
