‘나쁜 교회’와 ‘위험한 기독교인’이라는 소설적 아이러니 - 백가흠의 「성탄절」, 채희윤의 「명복동 칸타타」, 이기호의 「최순덕 성령 충만기」, 김원일의 「카타콤」을 중심으로 -

The Literary Irony in 'Bad Churches' and 'Dangerous Christians' - focusing on "SeongTanGeol (Christmas)" by Gaheum Baek, "Cantata in MyeongBok-dong" by Huiyeun Chae, "Choi Seundeok's Spirit filled life" by Giho Lee, "The Catacomb" by Kim Won-il -

이 논문은 한국 기독교 교회의 현실을 문제적으로 다루고 있는 네 편의 소설 텍스트(백가흠의 「성탄절」, 채희윤의 「명복동 칸타타」, 이기호의 「최순덕 성령 충만기」, 김원일의 「카타콤」)를 통해 ‘나쁜 교회’와 ‘위험한 기독교인’이라는 아이러니가 근대인과 근대 사회에 내재된 폭력성과 조악성을 어떤 양상으로 드러내고 있는지를 분석하고자 한다. 「성탄절」의 교회는 性과 돈을 교환함으로써 거짓을 진실로 위조해 낸다. 여기서 증거와 사실을 연결하는 실증적 사고방식과 다수 결정에 의한 민주적 방식은 조작된 진실을 승인하는 도구로 나타난다. 「명복동 칸타타」는 현실적 성공을 신앙의 대가로 해석함으로써 종교적 맹신과 교회에의 복종이라는 기독교인의 정체성을 구성해 내고, 이 정체성에 어긋나는 타자와의 싸움을 위해 군대와 유사한 집단으로 변질된 교회를 풍자하고 있다. 「최순덕 성령 충만기」에는 맹목적 신앙의 자족성을 희화화함으로써 근대 외부에 속하는 사회적 열등성을 학교, 가정 등과 같은 근대적 사회 규범을 해학적으로 해체하는 전략으로 활용하고 있다. 「카타콤」은 정치적으로 금지된 북한 잠입 선교의 진정성을 설득하는 과정에서 정치적 경계와 이데올로기적 해석의 폭력성을 밝혀 나간다. 텍스트 분석 결과 ‘나쁜 교회’는 근대를 구성하는 이데올로기와 결합된 교회로서, ‘나쁜 교회’의 아이러니는 그 교회가 포유하고 있는 이데올로기의 부정성을 비판적으로 드러내기 위함이었다. ‘위험한 기독교인’은 근대적 사회 규범의 외부에 속하는 자로서, ‘위험한 기독교인의 아이러니’는 근대적 사회 규범의 무용성을 역설한다.

This treatise represents the analysis using the viewpoint which is toconsider four novels -'SeongTanGeol (Christmas)' by Gaheum Baek,'Cantata in MyeongBok-dong' by Huiyeun Chae, 'Choi Seundeok'sSpirit filled life' by Giho Lee, 'The Catacomb' by Kim Won-il- as 'badchurches' and 'dangerous christians'. In these novels, 'bad churches'and 'dangerous christians' mean literary irony. This paper shows howthis irony reveal the violence and coarseness which the moderns andmodern society held.In SeongTanGeol (Christmas), the church makes falsehood the truthby exchange the truth for sex and money. In this point, positivism'sway of thinking is expressed as the tool which approves false truth. InCantata in MyeongBok-dong, the church is satirized as the deterioratedchurch like army which fights with unbelievers who disobey the church.Choi Seundeok's Spirit filled life satirizes heroine who has blind faith.This satire means the strategy which makes her social inferiority breakup modern society rules like school, home and so on. The Catacombshows meaninglessness of politic boundary and ideologic interpretationby persuading sincerity of infiltration missionary for North Korea.As a result of these three novels analysis, 'bad churches' mean thechurches which is connected with ideology making up modern society and 'Irony' of the bad churches means to critically reflect the injusticeof the ideology. 'Dangerous christians' is one who doesn't belong tomodern society norms, and the irony of 'dangerous christians'emphasizes uselessness of modern society norms.
