  • This study aims to suggest some problems, which occur when environmental lighting zone is set by use-zone only, by comparing and analyzing the artificial illumination luminance. In addition, this study aims to review the control standards of light pollution and to suggest a practical environmental lighting zone-setting method. I checked out the standards of average surface luminance and luminance contrast as for light pollution management. In addition, I did some research on evaluation of light pollution on surroundings based on investigation of use-environment as for lighting environment setting method.

  • For reinforced concrete structures located in a sea environment, the Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) is mostly used as a signature method to prevent steel corrosion. For this research, specimens to which the ICCP is applied were manufactured under the assumption of two following cases the specimens are exposed to various salt damage environments (submerged zone, tidal zone), and deteriorative factors (crack) occur in concrete. For the specimens manufactured, an enhancement experiment for deterioration was conducted through regular cycle change under the temperature between 15 ~ 70℃ with 70 ~ 90% humidity. Afterwards, the method effect was verified through a half-cell method and application of the ICCP derived from salt damage environments was investigated.

  • This study presents a numerical investigation on the sensitivity of electromechanical (EM) impedance responses to inner damaged concrete of a prestressed anchorage zone. Firstly, the Ottosen yield criterion is selected to simulate the plasticity behavior of the concrete anchorage zone under the compressive loading. Secondly, several overloading cases are selected to analyze inner damage formations in the concrete of the anchorage zone. Using a finite element (FE) model of the anchorage zone, the relationship between applied forces and stresses is analyzed to illustrate inner plasticity regions in concrete induced by the overloading. Thirdly, EM impedance responses of surface-mounted PZT (lead-zirconate-titanate) sensors are numerically acquired before and after concrete damage occurrence in the anchorage zone. The variation of impedance responses is estimated using the RMSD (root-mean-square-deviation) damage metric to quantify the sensitivity of the signals to inner damaged concrete. Lastly, a novel PZT skin, which can measure impedance signatures in predetermined frequency ranges, is designed for the anchorage zone to sensitively monitor the EM impedance signals of the inner damaged concrete. The feasibility of the proposed method is numerically evaluated for a series of damage cases of the anchorage zone. The results reveal that the proposed impedance-based method is promising for monitoring inner damaged concrete in anchorage zones.

  • This research aims to establish the size standard of university library's user space, and present the standard and method to calculate total area required in the planning of new building construction and remodeling. Nine university libraries newly constructed or remodeled since 2000 were selected among the libraries of large scale universities with more than 10,000 enrolled students as the target libraries in this research. The target libraries were classified into A group (five cases partially remodeled) and B group (four cases newly constructed or fully remodeled) on the basis of the change of times. A university library can be divided into three spaces (user space, administration space and public space). This research classified the reading room in the user space into bookshelf zone, reading zone, information/office zone and hall/other zone, and analyzed area ratio according to each zone. B group's bookshelf zone decreased 12% more than A group, and B group's reading zone increased 10% more than A group. However, there was no big change in the area ratio of information/office zone and hall/other zone. This can be interpreted that university library changes from book and archive preservation-oriented space to user-oriented space. This research presented a proper reading room area calculation method, based on the capacity of books, by reflecting such a change. Each zone's standard was set up through classification of domestic and international standards, based on which, the calculation method of university library's total floor area required was presented. The reason why there was difference in university library's total floor area required according to domestic standard and international standard was that the number of enrolled students per seat in the reading room was different. The area calculation methods presented in this research can be utilized as useful data upon planning university library construction or remodeling.

  • Recently, indoor location detection has become an important area in the IoT (Internet of Things) environment for various indoor location-based services. In this paper, our proposed method shows that a virtual region can be divided electromagnetically according to specific facilities or services in various IoT application areas called zones. The MLP (Multi-Layer Perceptron) method is applied to recognize the service zone at the current position. The MLP utilized an RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicator) signal of the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) Beacon as input data and made decisions to affiliate the zone of the current region as output. In order to verify the proposed method, we constructed an experimental environment similar in size to an actual rail station using four of the beacon and two zones.

  • In Mobile Ad-hoc Networks, previous routing protocols classified into proactive and reactive approach respectively have pros and cons under the use of applications and environment. Moreover, to integrate their advantages in case by case, hybrid approach is consistently researched, and Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) was motivating many recent hybrid protocols. ZRP uses proactive routing to the node located within the zone defined by the specific number of hops, while it uses reactive routing to other nodes. However, in ZRP, because proactive routing is applied only within the zone defined by the number of hops, the zone is formed regardless of whether real data communication occurred frequently or not. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid routing scheme which employs the zone method but forms customized zone considering traffic load and number of hops, by a new decision method named Dynamic Zone Decision (DZD). Additionally, we analyze the performance of the proposed scheme, comparing with the previous proactive, reactive, and hybrid routings.

  • In this paper, stress analyses using shell and solid elements on weld zone of railway bogie frame were performed. To calculate stress distribution on weld zone, a coupling model using shell and solid elements was suggested. For this purpose, we performed specimen analyses on T-type solid and shell model of T-type panels which were modeled using shell elements, solid elements and coupled elements, respectively. The result showed that the stress concentration at weld zone was occurred in solid model, but it didn't occur in shell model. And the stress distribution of coupled model was similar to that of solid model. Also, we applied the coupled modeling method on the analysis on weld zone of bogie frame. The stress distribution of coupled model showed much higher compared to that of shell only model. Therefore, the coupled model method is highly recommended for the stress analysis in weld zone of bogie frame.

  • In the nowadays years our city's housing environment which progresses rapidly social-economical development is posited the role in the nowadays multi-family housing brings about the individualism of the nowadays city, and makes muddy neighborhood meaning, and the quality of the nowadays city dwelling house environment becoming worse. This study was started with the cognition of the need of intermediate-space, in the our life in the neighborhood city. Intermediate-spaces, has same meaning to come into the action of consciousness of the neighborhood. For the improvement of the quality of city housing, we should cleary recognized the individual territory after we set the proper in intermediate-zone in the multi-family housing. Therefore, this study inquires ito the meaning of intermediate-zone, and catches the formation technique of intermediate-zone and the method of plan through the investigation of the use cases of the multi-family housing which is established intermediate-territory. and then I analyze the role of the formative space by this method. By this method, I grope for the effect of the use through the alternative plan of the design method of the intermediate-zone. If the methods of play use the role in the nowadays multi-family housing, high quality will build up.

  • In this study, we have researched the optimum design method of the lenticular lens sheet for 3D displays on a TFT-LCD panel, to offer a more stable stereoscopic image, improved 3D quality, and a wider viewing zone. Especially, we have defined the viewing zone width (a parameter denoted as Z) to apply it to the optimum design. The results of this new design method have been compared with the existing design method. As a result, it is revealed that the proposed design method improves the stereoscopic image quality by reducing the black matrix zone width.
