Optimized Brazing Conditions of Regenerative Cooling Thrust Chambers (재생 냉각용 연소기의 최적 브레이징 조건)

  • The brazing of copper alloys and duplex stainless steels is an indispensable manufacturing technology for thrust chambers with regenerative cooling. For setting up the optimized brazing conditions, C18200 copper alloy plate with machined cooling channels and S31803 stainless steel plate are brazed with AMS4764 filler metals of which thickness is 50${\mu}m$ and 80${\mu}m$ They are tested by X-ray radiography, strength/leakage and fracture tests, and fracture surface inspection. The results obtained by the suggested conditions are that the specimen brazed with filler metal thickness of 50${\mu}m$ has good strength properties and brazed zone. However, the specimen with filler metal thickness of 80${\mu}m$ has the brazed zone with cooling channel obstruction and enlargement.

Effect of cooling rate on the microstructure and impact toughness of Cu-bearing HSLA steels (Cu를 함유한 HSLA강의 미세 조직과 인성에 미치는 냉각 속도의 영향)

  • The effects of cooling rate on the microstructures, precipitation of Cu-cluster, .epsilon.-Cu and impact toughness of high strength low alloy(HSLA) steel were studied using hardness tester, impact tester, DSC(differential scanning calorimetry), AES(auger electron spectroscopy) and TEM(transmission electron microscopy). Not only the Cu-precipitates but also the segregation of Cu, As, Sb, P, S, N, Sn along grain boundary were not observed at the specimens heat treated from 800.deg. C to 300.deg. C with the cooling time of 12-125 sec. The Cu-cluster, .epsilon.-Cu are formed by introducing ageing after cooling and the effect of precipitates on hardening increase after cooling was the same in all cooling rate. The peak hardness was obtained at an ageing of 500.deg. C in all cooling conditions. The impact energy become higher as the cooling time increases. This fact can be explained to be due to the tempering effect applied on the cooling stage since the present alloy has a relatively high Ms temperature and the local high concentration of the retained austenite.

  • This paper is about the yield rate of lower temperature furnace for wafer heat-treatment. The flat-zone that the temperature in furnace has uniform distribution specific area is the significant variable to the yield rate. In this study, we researched about the ways how to widen the flat zone in the furnace using CFD. As a result, we confirmed that the characteristic of the flat-zone was changed when SCU(Super Cooling Unit) was used. We considered temperature control with above.

  • The objective of the present study is to predict the characteristics of heat and mass transfer around an evaporative condenser. Numerical calculations have been performed using multi-zone method to investigate heat transfer rate and evaporation rate with the variation of inlet condition(velocity, relative humidity and temperature) of the moist air, the flow rate of the cooling water and the shape of the condenser tube. From the results it is found that the profile of heat flux is the same as that of evaporation rate since heat transfer along the gas-liquid interface is dominated by the transport of latent heat in association with the vaporization(evaporation) of the liquid film. The evaporation rate and heat transfer rate is increased as mass flow rate increases or relative humidity and temperature decrease respectively. But the flow rate of the cooling water hardly affect the evaporation rate and heat flux along the gas-liquid interface. The elliptic tube which the ratio of semi-minor axis to semi-major axis is 0.8 is more effective than the circular tube because the pressure drop is decreased. But the evaporation rate and heat flux shown independency on the tube shape.

  • To identify turbulent flow characteristics of non-reacting case resulted from cooling flow injection in a rectangular swirl combustor, 3D Large Eddy Simulation(LES) was implemented and Proper Orthogonal Decomposition(POD) analysis was used for post-processing. The combustor of concern is the LM6000, lean premixed dry low-NOx annular combustor, developed by GEAE. It was observed that increase in speed of shear layer resulted from the inflow of cooling flow caused intensified vorticity magnitude in central toroidal recirculation zone. In the case of vorticity magnitude in corner recirculation zone, however, was weakened. In addition, pressure fluctuation in combustor was damped down and longitudinal acoustic mode was significantly dissipated

  • The present study has been conducted to reduce the cold air drying rate. According to the cold air drying method, the quality-excellent product could be made and there would be little change of color, taste and smell. As compared with the hot air drying, the cold air drying equipment has the superior dehumidification in a constant drying zone. However, in a falling drying zone that equipment is not energy-efficient because the drying period could be longer by the dehumidificated.

  • Polycarbosilane was synthesized from the pyrolysis of polydimethylsilane, which is dechlorinated from dimethyldichlorosilane. The pyrolysis temperature was varied at 280-480$^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. FT-IR, FT-NMR and GPC measurement were studied on the residue inside the reaction crucible and viscous solution inside the cooling zone respectively. From the viscous solution in the cooling zone at 420$^{\circ}C$, the synthesis of polycarbosilane wa well detected.

  • A numerical analysis has been conducted on the dehumidification phenomena of rotary absorptive dehumidifier. Parameters that affect the dehumidification efficiency, such as regeneration temperature, humidity, rotor angular velocity, air flow rate and regeneration section angle are studied and optimum driving conditions are determined from the results, Furthermore three new types of dehumidification method are developed to improve the efficiency They are named MODE 2, 3 and 4, while the present one MODE 1. Cooling zone has been constructed between regeneration and process Bone in MODE 2 and as a result exit temperature of the process air decreases. MODE 3 an improvement of MODE 2, recirculates the cooling air into the regeneration zone and regeneration input as well as exit temperature decreases. In MODE 4, some of tee regeneration air is recirculated and it cuts down the regeneration input. Among them MODE 3, showed the best dehumidification efficiency.

  • A Cold spot temperature control system for the batch annealing furnace has been estabilished in order to reduce energy consumption to improve productivity and stabilize the propertics of products. Therefore we confirmed a relation between annealing cycle time and atmospheric gas, variation of coil cold spot temperature with time during heating and actual temperature measurements at mid-width of each coil during heating and actual temperature measurements at mid-width of each coil during soaking. The results of the tempaeature variation effect on the batch annealing are as follows. 1) Heating time is reduced to one half with increasing atmospheric gas flow rate and changing of atmospheric gas component from HNx to Ax gas, and annealing cycle time is reduced to 2.7 times. 2) In case of short time healing, the slowest heating part is the center of B coil, in case of long time heating, the low temperature point moves from the center of coil to inside coil. And the temperature in this part is higher than other parts when cooling. When finished heating, the cold spot is located 1/3 of coil inside in case of HNx atmospheric gas. But center of coil in case of Ax atmospheric gas. 3) The outside of top coil is the highest temperature point when heating, which becomes the lowest temperature point when cooling. So, this point becomes high temperature zone at heating and low temperature zone at cooling, It has relation according to atmospheric gas component and flow rate. 4) Soaking time at batch annealing cycle determination is made a decision by the input coil width, and soaking time for quality homogenization of 1214mm width coil must be 2.5 hours longer than that of 914mm width coil for the same ciol weight. 5) Annealing cycle time with Ax atmospheric gas is extended 1 hour in of slow cooling during 5 hours in order to avoid rapid cooling.

  • The Donghae mine locates at Jangjoari, Koseongun, Kyongsang-nam-do. The geology of the mine consists of the upper part of Chin dong Formation conformably overlain by tuffaceous Koseong Formation. These formations are intruded by the granodiorite and the basic dikes. The ore mineralization occurs in the fault breccia pipe at the center of a granodiorite stock. The estimated dimension of the breccia pipe is $7m{\times}70m{\times}200m$. The host rock has distinctive hydrothermal alteration halos consisting hematite zone, chlorite zone, epidote zone and sericite zone from outer zone to the ore vein. The ore mineralization occurred in the three distinctive stages. The ore minerals formed in the first stage are pyrite, sphalerite, chalcopyrite, stannite and tetrahedrite. Galena and arsenopyrite are formed in the second stage. Some sphalerite grains include exsolution dots of the chalcopyrite. It is suggested that the ore mineralization occurred by a boiling of a hydrothermal fluid during its initial stage and subsequent cooling and $CO_2$ fugacity drop of remaining hydrothermal fluid by a ground water mixing aided vertical zoning of the ore minerals.
