Experimental studies were peformed to investigate variations in ductility of shear wall with length of boundary confinement. Eight specimens containg different lengths of confinment zone, which model compressive zone in plastic regions of shear walls, were tested against eccentric vetical load. Stress-strain model for confined concrete was used to predict strength and ductility of the specimens, which was compared to the test results. The results obtained show that failure of the compressive zone occurs in a brittle manner when the stress of unconfined zone softened after the ultimate strength were reached. To enhance the ductility of shear walls with concentrated confinement zone such as barbell-type walls, the ultimate strength of the confinement zone needs to be increased, and for shear walls with distributed confinement zone the length of the confinement zone needs to be extended.

A LQG/LTR(linear quadratic Gaussian/loop transfer recovery) controller with an integrator is designed to control the electro-hydraulic positioning system. Without considering the nonlinearity in the dead-zone, computer simulations are performed and show good performances and tracking abilities with the feedback controller based on the linear system model. However, the performance of the closed loop hydraulic positioning system shows big steady-state error in real system because of the dead-zone. In this paper, the feedback controller with a nonlinear compensator is introduced to overcome the dead-zone phenomenon in hydraulic systems. The inverse dead-zone as a nonlinear compensator is used to cancel out the dead-zone phenomenon. Experimental tests are performed to verify the performance of the controller.

Mt. paektu(altitude 2,749.6m) is ecologically important because successional processes following volcanic eurption are quite clear. We investigated plant communities with altitude know vertical distribution of plant vegetation on the north-western slope of Mt. paektu was divided into five parts; the pine-hardwood forest zone(600∼1,000m alt.), the lower coniferous forest zone (1,000∼1,500 m alt.), the upper coniferous forest and birch forest zone(1,500∼2,000 m alt.), the alpine shrub zone(2,000∼2,500 m alt.) and the alpine meadow zone(2,500∼2,749 m alt.). In particular, the alpine zone was divided into alpine shrub and alpine meadow zones and distributed up to 2,500m alt. these results reflet the adaptations of these shrubs at this altitude. But these shrubby communities disappeared on the alpinemeadow zone. In the alpine meadow zone above than 2,500m alt., some meadows, papaver radicatum var pscudoradicatum. bistorta ochotensis, chrysathemum zawadskii var. latilobum etc., were occured.

This study probes the necessity of establishing a logistic free zone in Port of Busan. It considers the economic effects of establishing the logistic free zone of Busan Port, and suggests policy prescriptions for introducing the free zone system and improving the logistics functions of Busan Port. Using input-output table data, the regression analysis was able to provide a quantitative prediction on effects of making the Busan Port a tariff-free zone. Influence for the regional economy due to the enforcement of the free zone system this research found that a strong positive effects should be expected on the Busan regional economy once the logistic free zone would be set up at the Port of Busan. The positive economic effects on Busan regional industries might be further strengthened if the value-added logistics function of Busan Port could be supplemented by linking to the hinterland of Busan Port.

Tunnel lighting is composed of entrance zone, interior zone and exit zone by KS C 3703. We have to consider adaptation at entrance zone and exit zone lighting to prevent deteriorate visibility like black hole and white hole phenomenon. So External luminance, vehicle velocity and traffic volume should be considered in threshold zone lighting and vehicle speed and traffic volume should be considered in interior zone lighting. But existing tunnel lighting system is not good at visibility and economic because that is only controled by external luminance. So in this paper, We improve visibility and economic of tunnel lighting system using fuzzy reasoning according to external luminance, vehicle velocity, traffic volume.

This study revealed the behavior of droplets formed through leak process in deep water. There was a threshold depth named the universal attraction depth (UAD). Droplets rose upward in the zone below the UAD called the rising zone, and settled down in the zone above the UAD called the settling zone. Three mass loss modes were identified and formulated: dissolution induced by mass transfer, condensation by heat transfer and phase separation by pressure decrease. The first two were active for the settling zone, and all the three were effective for the rising zone. In consequence, the life time of the droplets in the rising zone was far shorter than that of the droplets in the settling zone.

The NdBaCuO superconductor samples were zone-melted in low oxygen partial pressure (1%O$_2$+99%Ar). The zone-melting temperature was decreased about 12$0^{\circ}C$ film 1,06$0^{\circ}C$, the zone-melting temperature in air. Thus the loss of liquid phase (BaCuO$_2$ and CuO) was reduced during: the zone-melting process. The content of non-superconducting phase Nd422 in zone-melted NdBaCuO samples was clearly decreased and, therefore, the substitution of Nd for Ba was occurred. The superconductivity of zone-melted Nd$_{1+x}$Ba$_{2-x}$Cu$_3$O$_{y}$ prepared under low oxygen partial pressure was distinctively improved.d.d.d.

Aluminum/Aramid Fiber Reinforced Plastic(Al/AFRP) laminates are applied to the fuselage-wing intersection. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the delamination zone behavior of Al/AFRP with a saw-cut and circular hole using average stress criterion and the effect of notch geometry. Mechanical tests were carried out to determine the cyclic-bending moment and delamination zone observed ultrasonic C-scan pictures. In case of Al/AFRP containing saw-cut specimen, the shape and size of the delamination zone formed along the fatigue crack. However, in case of Al/AFRP containing circular hole specimen, the shape and size of delamination zone formed two types. first type, delamination zone formed along the fatigue crack. Second type, not observed fatigue crack. Therefore, delamination zone was formed dependently of the circular hole shape.

Recently, China & Japan have expanded their responding ADIZ(Air Defence Identification Zone) to implement each Government's maritime policy and to project their Air Power in preparation for maritime provocation & contingency, especially over the piled area where East Asia countries have claimed to have maritime jurisdiction one another. So this is to guide the Development Option for Korea Air Defence Identification Zone to cope with the maritime intentions of the neighboring countries, considering the international law for ADIZ, the maritime policy and the maritime sovereign & jurisdiction area of the Republic of Korea, etc.

It is necessary, in the light of the importance of long-term slope stability problem, to develop a simple method or tool which can figure out the possible failure zone resulted from weathering effect and other factors. The FBG sensor system is used to estimate the correlations between the temperature and the slope in Kimhae, and to find a failure zone in slopes effectively. This research is to seek for the correlation between the soil temperature distribution and the strain distribution in a active zone by analyzing the data from the in-situ measurement so that the possible failure zone should be well defined based on the correlation. For instance, the zone of high temperature fluctuation can be regarded as one of the possible sliding zone due to the weathering effect while the constant temperature depth of the ground, if exists would not be relatively affected by the weathering process.
