NaX zeolite crystal were grown from seed elements of synthetic NaX(2~3$\mu\textrm{m}$) Powder in a mother liquor having an approximate reactant composition ${4.12{Na}_{2}O{\cdot}{Al}_{2}{O}_{3}{\cdot}3.5{SiO}_{2}{\cdot}593{H}_{2}O$.The result was that crystallization time of NaX zeolite was reduced with adding seed materials to the initial mixture and crystal size was reduced . but with increasing crystallization time, NaX zeolite. In this study, We investigated detailed factors which NaX crystal has been determined by a combination of SEM, XRD, FT-IR, and BET.
This study has been carried out to investigate the effect of the surface properties of Portland cement, diatomite and zeolite on the performance of concrete composites. In this context, to describe the materials used in this study and determine the properties of them, chemical, physical, mineralogical, molecular, thermal, and zeta potential analysis have been applied. In the study, reference (Portland cement), 10%-20% diatomite, 10%-20% zeolite, 5+5%-10+10% diatomite and zeolite were substituted for Portland cement, a total of 7 different cements were obtained. Ultrasonic pulse velocity, capillary water absorption and compressive strength tests were performed on the hardened concrete specimens. Hardened concrete tests have been done on seven different types of concrete, for 28, 56 and 90 days. As a result of experiments it has been identified that both the zeolite and diatomite substitution has a positive effect on the performance of concrete.
This study was performed to examine the effects of aluminum addition and recycle of NaOH waste solution on CEC and crystallinity of zeolite synthesized from fly ash. The added aluminum was used as the source of zeolite framework in zeolitization of fly ash. CEC and crystallinity of Na-P1 zeolite synthesized with aluminum addition were increased from 285 to $365cmol_c\;kg^{-1}$ and from 44.3 to 57.1% compared to that of simple hydrothermal treatment, respectively. The recycled NaOH solution did not affect the CEC of reaction products, though the crystallinity was decreased a little. Therefore, the additional supply of aluminum could improve the quality of zeolite synthesized from fly ash and the recycle of NaOH during zeolite synthesis can save the chemical without any adverse effects in the quality of synthesized seolite.
Adsorption and heterogeneous electro-Fenton process using iron-loaded ZSM-5 nano-zeolite were investigated for the removal of Tetracycline (TC) from wastewater. The nano-zeolite was synthesized hydrothermally and modified through impregnation. The zeolite was characterized by XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, N2 adsorption-desorption, and NH3-TPD techniques. The equilibrium data were best represented by the Freundlich isotherm. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model was the most accurate model for the adsorption of TC on the modified nano-zeolite. The effect of parameters such as pH of solution and current density were investigated for the heterogeneous electro-Fenton process. The results showed that the current density of 150 mA and pH of 3 led to the highest TC removal (90.35%) at 50 min. The nano-zeolite showed the appropriate reusability. Furthermore, the developed kinetic model was in good agreement with the removal data of TC through the electro-Fenton process.
Zeolites are microporous materials that find applications in different fields due to their numerous interesting properties. This research investigated the effect of leaching on unheated Ifon kaolin in dilute hydrochloric acid and sulphuric acid. The hydrothermal method synthesized zeolite-X type, and the resulting sample was characterized using different techniques. The silica/alumina ratio in the synthesized sample was approximately 5.6, while Infrared spectra confirmed that the synthesized material was Zeolite-X. Based on the X-ray diffraction patterns, other phases were also formed in addition to zeolite-X crystals. Thermogravimetry results indicated that the synthesized zeolite was relatively stable below 500℃, so its weight loss was only 13% after heating to about 200℃. A differential thermal analyzer confirmed this amount of weight loss, and endothermic and exothermic reactions were also observed for the samples calcined respectively at 700 and 900℃. Based on Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analyses, samples at 700℃ showed slower adsorption-desorption isotherms, pore volume, and sizes than those at 900℃. These results have shown that leaching and calcination temperature significantly affect the type of zeolite produced.

The effect of zeolite on the quality properties of fresh and broiled pork loin was investigated using 84 pigs that were fed with different feed ration of zeolite (0, 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0% zeolite) for 3 months. The pH of fresh pork loin fed with 0% and 2.0% zeolite was 5.95, which was higher than those of others (P<0.05). The cooking loss of fresh pork loin fed with 0.5% and 1.0% zeolite were 26.24% and 26.42%, respectively, which was higher than those of others (P<0.05). The dissolution crude lipid of 1.0% zeolite (3.11%) was highest, but that of 0% zeolite was lowest (P<0.05). L and a values were highest in fresh pork fed with 1.0% zeolite, however, b value was highest in fresh pork fed with 2.0% zeolite (P<0.05). In the results of L value of the broiled pork loin, the feed ration with 0% zeolite was highest (75.49) and decreased as the feed ration of zeolite increased (P<0.05). The a and b values were highest in broiled pork fed with 0.5% zeolite (P<0.05). The hardness, springiness, gumminess and chewiness of fresh and broiled pork loin fed with 2.0% zeolite were highest and increased as the feed ration of zeolite increased (P<0.05). In the result of sensory evaluation in broiled pork loin, color preference was increased as the feed ration of zeolite increased (P<0.05). Taste preference was highest in the 1.0% zeolite (10.70), followed by 2.0% (8.72), 0.5% (7.64), and 0% zeolite (6.44) (P<0.05). Flavor and appearance preferences were not significantly different between the groups. Texture preference was decreased as the feed ration of zeolite increased. The overall preference was highest in the 1.0% with zeolite (10.80), followed by 0.5% (10.04), 0% (8.41), and 2.0% (7.92) with zeolite (P<0.05). In conclusion, the optimal feed ration of zeolite for broiled pork loin was between 0.5 and 1.0% zeolite.

The linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE)/zeolite composite using novel inorganic filler, zeolite, is prepared by a conventional compounding procedure using a twin-screw extruder. The observed scanning electron microscopic (SEM) morphology shows a good dispersion and adhesion of zeolite in the LLDPE matrix. The mechanical properties in terms of the Young's modulus, the yield stress, the impact strength, and the elongation at break were enhanced with a successive increment of zeolite content up to 40 wt%. The X-ray diffraction measurement is of supportive for the improved mechanical properties and the complex melt viscosity is as well. Upon applying a certain level of strain on the composites, the dewetting, the air hole formation and its growth are characterized. The dewetting originates around the filler particles at low strain and induces elliptical micropores upon further stretching. The microporosity such as the aspect ratio, the number and the total area of the air holes is also characterized. Thus, the composites loaded 40 % zeolite and 300 % elongation may be applicable for breathable microporous films with improved modulus, impact and yield stress, elongation at break, microporosity and air hole properties.
To treat piggery wastewater containing refractory compounds including nitrogen, physical treatments using zeolite and biological processes were investigated. In biogical treatment, the removal efficiencies of organics and nitrogen in bioreador using BACC (Biological Activated Carbon Cartridge) media filled with granule activated carbon were examined. The best removal efficiencies achieved for TKN and COD(sub)cr were 82% and 53% respectively, when zeolite dosage was 300 g/L. Specific nitrogen removal ability was 3.2 mg/g at a zeolite dosage of 50 g/L, whereas specific nitrogen removal ability was 1.8 mg/g at a zeolite dosage of 300 g/L. The increased of C/N ratio resulting from the removal of nitrogen using zeolite led to an increase in removal efficiency of organics. As C/N ratio was increased to 2.0, 2.44 and 6.58 at a HRT of 48 hours in a BACC bioreactor, removal efficiencies of COD(sub)cr were increased to 53.5%, 57.4% and 80.6%. The removal efficiency of wastewater using a zeolite dosage of 399 g/L was increased by 27.1% compared to that of control treatment.
Permeable reactive barriers used for groundwater treatment require proper estimation of the reactive material behavior regarding the emplacement method. This study evaluates the dry emplacement of zeolite (clinoptilolite) to be used as a reactive material in the barrier by carrying out several geotechnical laboratory tests. Dry zeolite samples, exhibited higher wetting-induced compression strains at the higher vertical stresses, up to 12% at 400 kN/m2. The swelling potential was observed to be limited with a 3.5 swell index and less than 1% free swelling strain. Direct shear tests revealed that inundation reduces the shear strength of a dry zeolite column by a maximum of 10%. Falling head permeability tests indicate decreasing permeability values with increasing the vertical effective stress. Regarding self-loading and inundation, the porosity along the zeolite column was calculated using a proposed 1D numerical model to predict the permeability with depth considering the laboratory tests. The calculated discharge efficiency was significantly decreased with depth and less than 2% relative to the top for barrier depths deeper than 20 m. Finally, the importance of directional dependence in the permeability of the zeolite medium for calibrating 2D finite element flow analysis was highlighted by bench-scale tests performed under 2D flow conditions.
Nitrate reduction with zero valent iron $(Fe^0)$ has been extensively studied, but the proper treatment for ammonium byproduct has not been reported yet. In groundwater, however, ammonium is regarded as contaminant species, and particularly, its acceptable level is regulated to 0.5 mg-N/L. for drinking water. This study is focused on developing new material to reduce nitrate and properly remove ammonium by-products. A new material, Fe-loaded zeolite, is derived from zeolite modified by Fe(II) chloride followed by reduction with sodium borohydride. Batch experiments were performed without buffer at two different pH to evaluate the removal efficiency of Fe-loaded zeolite. After 80 hr reaction time, Fe loaded zeolite showed about $60\%$ nitrate removal at initial pH of 3.3 and $40\%$ at pH of 6 with no ammonium release. Although iron filing showed higher removal efficiency than Fe-loaded zeolite at each pH, it released a considerable amount of ammonium stoichiometrically equivalent to that of reduced nitrate. In terms of nitrogen species including $NO_3-N$ and $NH_4^+-N$, Fe-loaded zeolite removed about $60\%\;and\;40\%$ of nitrogen in residual solution at initial pH of 3.3 and 6, respectively, while the removal efficiency of iron filing was negligible.
