Social Perception of Disaster Safety Education for Migrant Youth based on Big Data (빅데이터를 통해 바라본 이주배경청소년 재난안전교육에 대한 사회적 인식)

  • Purpose: This study aims to analyze data on disaster safety education for migrant youth and to examine the corresponding social perceptions. Method: Data on disaster safety education for migrant youth were collected and analyzed using Textom and Ucinet. The data used in the study were searched on portal websites from 2016 to 2023 using the keywords 'migrant youth+ disaster + safety education'. Result: The analysis results showed that 'education (306)' had the highest frequency, followed by 'safety (287)', 'school (97)', 'society (85)', and 'support (77)'. The keyword with the high degree of centrality, closeness centrality, and betweenness centrality were 'education', 'safety' and 'society'. 'Family' ranked higher in betweenness centrality than the rankings of frequency analysis, degree centrality and closeness centrality, indicating that 'family' plays a significant role as a mediator in the network of disaster safety education for migrant youth. Conclusion: By examining social awareness about disaster safety education for migrant youth, the findings will be used to develop policies and strategies for disaster safety education that consider the unique vulnerabilities of migrant youth in disaster situations.

Introduction to 1M telescope of Deokheung Optical Astronomy Observatory, National Youth Science Center (NYSC)

  • We will soon complete the installation of 1m telescope at Deokheung Optical Astronomy Observatory (DOAO), National Youth Space Center (NYSC). Before the test observation with NYSC 1m telescope, we present the specs of the 1M telescope and observational conditions of the DOAO site, such as the seeing data at DOAO and the atmospheric extinction coefficients obtained from the observations of standard stars and stellar clusters with 120mm and 150mm refractor in 2014. Since atmospheric extinction coefficients depend on the observational instruments as well as the atmospheric conditions of the site, the improved data with NYSC 1m telescope will be obtained right after the completion of 1M telescope installation. We are planning to invite all astronomers to use 1m telescope for their sciences via regular proposal processes in this year.

"Getting Used to Each Other": Immigrant Youth's Family Reunification Experiences

  • Many immigrant youth and their families undergo painful separations and complicated reunification experiences. Using data from the Longitudinal Immigrant Student Adaptation (LISA) study, a 5-year longitudinal, mixed-methods study of newcomer youth to the U.S., we examine the impact of lengthy family separations on youth's mental health and their perceived family conflict. Quantitative analyses demonstrate that longer separations positively predict higher psychological symptoms and family conflict, particularly for girls over a sustained period of time. Qualitative analyses of parent and child responses provide insights into the family reunification experiences.

Preliminary Result of Exoplanet Transit Observation by NYSC 1m Telescope

  • During the year 2016 the newly installed NYSC (National Youth Science Center) 1m optical telescope was officially commissioned. Calls for future observational programmes were announced. During test observations we carried out an observational project aimed at follow-up observations of transiting extrasolar planets. To predict future transits we developed the "TransitSearch" code implemented in Python utilizing transit information from the Open Exoplanet Catalogue. During three nights in April and June 2016 we observed planetary transits of HAT-P-3b and TrES-3b. Preliminary light curves of the transit events are presented alongside with best-fit models. From this experience we plan to improve the optical alignment and photometric performance by operating the 1m NYSC telescope in a strongly out-of-focus mode for transit observations.

  • 해시계는 태양의 겉보기 운동을 통해 시간과 좌표계에 대한 이해를 도와주는 도구 중 하나이다. 국립고흥청소년 우주체험센터에서는 지평면 해시계와 수직 해시계를 덕흥 천문대에 설치하였다. 지평면 해시계는 관측자 자신의 그림자로 시각을 알 수 있도록 제작하였다. 관측자가 서는 곳에 아날렘마, 매월 1일의 위치 및 각 절기를 표기하여 균시차를 보정할 수 있게 하였다. 벽면 해시계는 가로 1.8m, 세로 1.8m 크기로 황동 주물제작하여 정남향으로 설치하였다. 눈금의 간격은 15분이며 균시차 보정은 하지 않았다. 두 해시계 모두 실제 센터의 경도에 맞춰 설계했으며 표준시와 시간차이를 보이게 했다. 지평면 해시계와 수직 해시계는 센터를 찾아오는 방문객에게 과학적 호기심을 일으키는 야외 체험전시물의 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대하며 향후 해시계를 활용한 실험체험 프로그램을 통하여 청소년이 시간과 좌표계의 개념을 쉽고 명확하게 이해하는데 도움을 주고자 한다.

An Impotance-Performance Analysis of Planning Factors for Teenager Leisure Space (청소년 여가공간 공간계획요소의 중요도-성취도 분석)

  • In order to collect basic data for the plan, design, and improvement of teenager leisure space as well as to contribute to the preparation of various youth leisure spaces, this study is to examine and analyze leisure space planning factors under the consideration of leisure patterns changing rapidly in youth activities. We used sufficient amount of questionnaires and a physical environment analysis at downtown parks and Tongdaemun fashion complexes where various leisure activities of teenager are happened. In addition, an importance and performance analysis was attempted on planning factors of each derived leisure space. on sequently, effective and efficient preparation of youth leisure space for desirable youth leisure activities should be carried out after finding out characteristics of teenager leisure spaces, deriving and integrating suitable planning factors for each characteristics, and finally adapting such derived planning factors by performance and importance. The future space for youth leisure should be improved and prepared after mature consideration about importance and performance of planning factors, which are suited for leisure patterns and characteristics of teenager leisure spaces.

  • Using the data of Economically Active Population Survey and GOMS, we analyze youth employee's labor mobility. We found the causes of the youth employee's labor mobility as follows: work environment, salary, enterprise's vision, job satisfaction, job mismatching, organizational culture, mismatching of work and housing and so on. On the basis of results, we proposed a step by step solutions. The resulting policy implication is that rather than raising job finding rate of the unemployed youths, we need to focus more on reducing job mismatching.

  • The oriental medicine is necessary to the development of oriental medicine diagnosis, to satisfy the Senior-Friendly. We experiment on the elderly women in 3-D mac, and carry into effect the comparative-study on the youth's pulsation. The elder pulsation's division factor are analyzed press power, w/t, h5/h1 , dispersion of period. In the press power, the elder pulsation is shallow compared with the youth's pulsation. In the w/t (pressurization time / pulsation cycle), the elder pulsation is longer compared with the youth's pulsation, In the h5/h1 (dicrotic / main peak), the elder pulsation is small compared with the youth's pulsation. In the range of dispersion of period, the elder pulsation is narrow-changed compared with the youth's pulsation. Therefore the elder pulsation is characterized by the deficiency of flexibility and injection power.

  • Recently, youth unemployment is not a mere economic problem in Korea. It could be developed into a serious social problem. It has been long since youth unemployment rate was more than double in total unemployment rate, which stood at 3.5 percent in 2005 and then the inactivity among the younger job-seekers is appearing to be chronic. Hence, this paper examines the status and causes of the youth unemployment problem and studies the possibility to apply the Demand-Supply Chain Management to the problem.
