This study investigated the relation between oral counting and numerical abilities of young children. The subjects were 33 four-year-old children and 47 five-year-old children from 2 preschools and 2 kindergartens in Kwangju. The test was individually administered in an empty classroom or a hallway by using counting buttons and number cards. The data were analyzed by t-test, Pearsons correlation and multiple regression analysis. The results indicated that (1) older children did better than younger children in oral counting. (2) but the older children did not do better than the younger children in the numerical abilities, (3) the numerical abilities of young children differed according to the degree of oral counting, and (4) the oral counting of young children was one significant predictor of numerical abilities. Findings support the inclusion of activities for oral counting in kindergartens.
The purpose of this study is to offer information related to recommended dietary allowances for young children and food guidelines for preschool children in Sweden. Sweden, located in Europe, is the most developed country for young child care system. Swedish nutrition policy background, Swedish recommended dietary allowances for young children, and food guidelines of early childhood education center in Sweden were used. The number of Swedish child care centers increased from 70,000 in 1970 to 700,000 in 2000. The Swedish Institute of Public Health promoted children's indoor and outdoor activity. The aim of the Swedish public health contains children's safety, good food habits, and eating food safely. Swedish Food Administration made recommended dietary allowance and food guidelines for children care centers. The aim of food guidelines was to increase energy, calcium, iron, and dietary fiber intake. Swedish RDA contains minimum and maximum intake as well as mean intake for macro and micro nutrients. The fat intake ratio of energy is increased for younger children. For preschool children, the food guideline is determined by dietary allowances for breakfast, lunch, and snack respectively. Food guideline contains meal time schedule, menu for each meal using food model, amount of food for age group, and recommended dietary allowance for each meal. It is recommended for Korean early childhood education center: 1) Korean RDA for young children should be made range of intake, minimum and maximum intake. 2) Food guideline should be make for Korean child care center. 3) Korean child care centers should offer an afternoon snack twice for children who return home late. 4) Nutrition education program for preschool teachers should be developed for children's good eating habits and health promotion.

The participants in this study consisted of 243 mothers of 4~5 years old children and 20 teachers in 5 child education centers located in Seoul, Korea. The data was analyzed by means of using statistical method such as mean, standard deviation, t-test, Pearson correlation, and stepwise regression. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, there were significant differences between parent-teacher relationship and learning related skills of young children according to the children's sex and maternal educational level. Second, children's sex, maternal educational level, and the parent-teacher relationship were significantly related with the learning related skills of young children. Last, mother's motivational beliefs in the context of child education and the parent-teacher relationship directly influenced the learning related skills of young children. The subjects were a total of 17 children 4 years of age. The research, implemented over the courses of 10 weeks, was integrated into their daily education curriculum. The children's drama activities were collected by participant observation, field notes, audio and videotape transcriptions, documentation of the young children's drama activities (eg. pantomimes, role plays & improvised expression, improvisations). The analysis reveals the following findings : 1) even shy and passive young children tried to participate in pantomime activities after reading books. 2) In role play & improvised expression activities, young children were immersed in the improvised situation and spontaneously expressed their emotions and thoughts as actors without the use of any scripts, in an impromptu manner. 3) In improvisation, young children collaborated with other children to create the improvisation by extending or transforming the content of the picture books through their own ideas.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to identify the longitudinal reciprocal relationship between young children's vocabulary ability and physical aggression in young children. Methods: Two waves of panel data(2013/2015) from the Panel Study of Korean Children were analyzed in this study by using an adapted version of Autoregressive cross-lagged modeling. A total of 306 five-year-old and seven-year-old preschoolers, and their mothers participated in the study. Autoregressive cross-lagged modeling for multiple groups was conducted by using AMOS 24.0. Results: First, vocabulary ability and physical aggression showed stability over time. Second, young children's vocabulary ability(t) had a statistically significant effect on physical aggression(t+1). Conclusion/Implications: This study confirmed the interrelationships of young children's vocabulary ability and physical aggression by examining longitudinal data using the longitudinal analysis method. This study highlights the importance of developing interventions to support language development with aggressive children. The results of the present study can be used as a source in developing policies for aggressive children and their parents.
Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between anxiety and mastery in hospitalized young children's mothers. Methods: The subjects were 118 mothers of young children who were hospitalized in a pediatric unit. Self-report questionnaires were used to measure the variables of anxiety and mastery. In the data analysis, SPSSWIN 23.0 was used for descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Results: The reliability of instruments were found to have a Cronbach's alpha of .84 to .92. Anxiety correlated negatively with mastery (r=-.43, p<.001) and positively with duration of hospitalization (r=.26, p=.004). In multiple regression, mastery and duration of hospitalization were significant predictors of anxiety in hospitalized young children's mothers, explaining 24.0%. Conclusions: Anxiety and mastery were significant variables in hospitalized young children's mothers. A strategy of nursing intervention which decreases anxiety in mothers must be developed by increasing the level of mastery in mothers of hospitalized young children.
