The strategy for increasing the palatability of Hanwoo beef through fattening could lead to a decline in yield grade. The aim of this study was to examine the meat quality traits of Longissimus dorsi (LD) muscle from carcasses of Hanwoo steers at different yield grades. A total of 246 Hanwoo steers was divided into the following yield grades: A (n=77), B (n=76) and C (n=93). Meat quality traits, including proximate composition, cholesterol content, nucleotide content, dipeptide content, creatine and creatinine, free amino acid content, fatty acid composition, instrumental meat color, pH, water holding capacity, drip loss, cooking loss, and sensory qualities of the LD muscle from the 3 yield grades of Hanwoo carcasses were measured. The decline in yield grade from A to C resulted in an increase in crude fat and cholesterol content as well as a decrease in inosine 5'-monophosphate and aspartic acid in the LD muscle (p<0.05). In terms of fatty acid composition, the LD muscle from yield grade A had higher SFA and PUFA and lower MUFA content than that from yield grade C (p<0.05). However, the ratio of PUFA/SFA and n-6/n-3 did not differ among LD muscles from the 3 yield grades. There were no significant differences among other meat quality traits in relation to the yield grade. In conclusion, we suggest that the changes of substances related with health and flavor can be considered in order to obtain better quality Hanwoo beef.
The present study hypothesized that ratio between carcass traits components could be applied for the understanding of yield index in Hanwoo steer. A thousand data was generated based on average carcass weight (CW), loin area (LA) and backfat thickness (BT) of Hanwoo steer in December 2018 for analysis 1. Then yield index (YI) was calculated using newly established yield index equation. The correlation between yield index and each carcass traits was visualized. In the interaction between carcass traits components (LA, CW, BT) and YI, only the interactions including BT showed a regular pattern to YI. Then changes of YI according to ratio of carcass traits components were investigated. The observed interactions between LABT and CWBT were similar with Monod equation model. The changes of YI to LABT and CWBT were fitted to Monod equation, and yield constants (K1 for LABT; K2, CWBT) of each equation were calculated as 0.47 and 2.20, respectively. Carcass traits from 5 commercial Hanwoo steer farm were then employed in the second analysis. Yield constants of each farm were estimated. In estimation, R2 value for K1 (LABT) showed greater than the K2 (CWBT). Finally, each farm was plotted based on their K1 and K2 values and it was found that greater yield index of Hanwoo steer was found as increased K1 and K2. As conclusion, the present study suggested the possibility of K1 and K2 values for understanding of yield grade equation and their application in the evaluation of new model for yield grade estimation and feeding strategy.
The effect of strain rate on the yield stress of an Al-Li alloy has been investigated at temperatures between 77 and 523 K and over the strain rate range from $1.77{\times}10^{-4}s^{-1}$ to $1.77{\times}10^{-2}s^{-1}$. At testing temperatures below 373 K, the yield stress is almost independent of strain rate at any aging stage. At testing temperatures above 373 K, the yield stress increases linearly with the logarithm of strain rate, and the strain rate dependence increases with increasing testing temperature. The yield stresses of under-aged alloy at temperatures between 373 and 473 K at high strain rates are greater than the yield stress at 77 K. For the alloy under-aged or aged nearly to its peak strength, the temperature range within which the positive temperature dependence of yield stress appears expands to the higher temperature side with increasing strain rate. The strain rate dependence of the yield stress is slightly negative at this aging stage. The yield stress of the over-aged alloy decreases monotonically with decreasing strain rate and with increasing testing temperature above 373 K. The modulus normalized yield stress is nearly constant at testing temperatures below 373 K at any strain rate investigated. And, strength depends largely both on the aging conditions and on the testing temperature. The peak positions in strength vs. aging time curves shift to the side of shorter aging time with increasing testing temperature. For the specimens aged nearly to the peak strength, the positive temperature dependence of yield stress is observed in the temperature range. The shift of peak positions in the aging curves are explained in terms of the positive temperature dependence of cutting stress and the negative temperature dependence of by-passing stress.

The yield is basic and necessary information in precision agriculture that reduces input resources and enhances productivity. Yield information is important because it can be used to set up farming plans and evaluate farming results. Yield monitoring systems are commercialized in the United States and Japan but not in Korea. Therefore, such a system must be developed. This study was conducted to develop a yield monitoring system that improved performance by correcting a previously developed flow sensor using a grain tank-weighing system. An impact-plated type flow sensor was installed in a grain tank where grains are placed, and grain tank-weighing sensors were installed under the grain tank to estimate the weight of the grain inside the tank. The grain flow rate and grain weight prediction models showed high correlations, with coefficient of determinations (R2) of 0.9979 and 0.9991, respectively. A main controller of the yield monitoring system that calculated the real-time yield using a sensor output value was also developed and installed in a combine harvester. Field tests of the combine harvester yield monitoring system were conducted in a rice paddy field. The developed yield monitoring system showed high accuracy with an error of 0.13%. Therefore, the newly developed yield monitoring system can be used to predict grain weight with high accuracy.
The study was conducted to determine if variation in protein yield can be explained by expressions of early lactation somatic cell score (SCS) and if prediction can be improved by including SCS among the predictors. A data set was prepared (n = 663,438) from Wisconsin Dairy Improvement Association (USA) records for protein yield with sample days near 20. Stepwise regression was used requiring F statistic (p < .01) for any variable to stay in the model. Separate analyses were run for 12 combinations of four seasons and first three parities. Selection of SCS variables was not consistent across seasons or lactations. Coefficients of detennination ($R^2$) ranged from 51 to 61% with higher values for earlier lactations. Including any expression of SCS in the prediction equations improved $R^2$ by < 1 %. SCS was associated with milk yield on the sample day, but the association was not strong enough to improve the prediction of future yield when other expressions of milk yield were in the model.
A process for the production of mannitol from fructose (5% to 25%) using Leuconosyoc mesenteroides NRRL B-1149 was investigated. Fermentations were carried out in bat도 of fed-batch fermentations without aeration at 28℃, pH 5.0. When 5% fructose was used in batch culture fermentation, the yield of mannitol was 78% of that expected theoretically. When the fructose concentration was increased to 10%, the yield dropped to 59.6% of the theoretical value. However, in the fed-batch culture, using 10% fructose, the yield was 81.9% of the theoretical value. In a 15% fructose fed-bat도 culture, with 5% fructose being added initially and the other 10% fructose being added as a continuous supply, the final yield was 83.7% of the theoretical yield. When 20% fructose was used in the same manner, the yield was 89.5% of theoretical yield.

In the present investigation, it is attempted to derive a yield function and associated flow rules of loose metal powders to predict plastic deformation and density change during compaction. The loose metal powders yield by shear stress as well as hydrostatic stress and the yield strength is much smaller in tension than compression. Therefore, a yield function for the powders is expressed as a shifted ellipse toward the negative direction in the hydrostatic stress axis in the space defined by the two stresses. Each of parameters A, B and .delta. used in the yield function is expressed as a function of relative density and it is determined by uniaxial strain and hydrostatic compressions using Cu powder. Flow rules obtained by imposing the normality rule to the yield function are applied to the analyses of unidirectional, bidirectional and hydrostatic compressions, resulting in an excellent agreement with experiments. The yield function is further examined by checking volume changes in plane stain, uniaxial strain and shear deformations.
A novel and simple method using a cylindrical penetrometer is being developed for the measurement of yield stress. The principle of this technique is based on the measurement of the static equilibrium of a falling penetrometer in a yield stress fluid. The yield stress is simply determined by a balance of forces acting on the penetrometer. The yield stress of Carbopol gels and $TiO_2$ suspensions has been measured using this method. The results are in reasonable agreement with the values from conventional methods. The effects of the dimensions and weight of the penetrometer have been examined. The long-term behaviour was also observed. No measurable creep was seen and equilibrium was found to be very quickly established. The cylindrical penetrometer technique promises to be a simple, quick and reliable static method for the measurement of yield stress.
In the semiconductor manufacturing, yield enhancement is an urgent issue. It is ideal to prevent all the failures. However, when a failure occurs, it is important to quickly specify the cause stage and take countermeasure. Reviewing wafer level and composite lot level yield patterns has always been an effective way of identifying yield inhibitors and driving process improvement. This process is very time consuming and as such generally occurs only when the overall yield of a device has dropped significantly enough to warrant investigation. The automatic method of failure pattern extraction from fail bit map provides reduced time to analysis and facilitates yield enhancement. The automatic method of failure pattern extraction from fail bit map provides reduced time to analysis and facilitates yield enhancement. This paper describes the techniques to automatically classifies a failure pattern using a fail bit map.
A multiple trait animal model having milk yield and lactation length was used to estimate genetic parameters using data from four institutional herds and four field recording centers. Response to selection for milk yield alone and in combination with lactation length was estimated by using principles of genetic theory. Lactation records (n = 2,353) adjusted for age at calving to 60 months were utilized. Milk yield was 17% heritable with repeatability of 0.44. Lactation length had a low heritability of 0.06 with repeatability of 0.16. Genetic correlation between the two traits was 0.70. Selection response in milk yield can be improved slightly (103.8 vs 102.8 kg) when information on covariance with lactation length is used together with the information on milk yield.
