The purpose of this study was to isolate the probiotic lactic acid bacteria, and verify the possibility of the final selection strain as probiotic material. For screening of biogenic amines non-producing microorganisms, 42 lactic acid bacteria were isolated from various berries, extract and vinegar grown in Sunchang. Isolates were investigated for various physiological activities such as extracellular enzyme, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities, and 5 isolates were firstly screened. SBB07 was finally selected by analyzing the biogenic amine, and named Lactobacillus brevis SBB07 by 16S rRNA sequencing analysis. Next, SBB07 was assayed for their survival ability when exposed to acidic and bile conditions as well as heat and antibiotic resistance. As a result, SBB07 showed more than 86% and 54% higher survival rate in acidic condition at pH 2.0 and bile resistance with 0.5% oxgall. In addition, SBB07 showed a survival rate of more than 113% in $60^{\circ}C$, and also confirmed that it has resistant to various antibiotics. As a result of confirming the possibility of prebiotics, SBB07 showed the best utilization of GOS as a prebiotic substrate, and utilization of FOS and inulin were also high. These results suggest that SBB07 have good potential for application as probiotic lactic acid bacteria.

Effects of pork thickness (5 and 7 mm), heating temperature (190 and $220^{\circ}C$) and time (40-180 sec), and flipping interval (10 and 30 sec) during cooking against survival levels of general bacteria and pathogenic microorganisms in pork were investigated. Under same heating temperature and time, 10 sec interval of flipping was more effective in sterilizing bacteria than 30 sec interval. Bacteria was not detected in 5-mm thick pork cooked for 80 sec at $190^{\circ}C$ with 10 sec flipping interval, and 120 sec heating at $190^{\circ}C$ and 30 sec flipping interval. Bacteria were not detected in most 7-mm thick pork cooked for 100 sec at $190^{\circ}C$ with 10 sec flipping interval, and 180 sec heating at $190^{\circ}C$ and 30 sec interval. Bacteria were not detected in most 5- and 7-mm thick pork cooked for 80 sec at $220^{\circ}C$ with 10 sec flipping interval, and 120 sec heating with 30 sec interval.
The crystallographic and high frequency characteristics of $Fe_{73.9}Cu_{1.0}Nb_{3.5}Si_{14.0}B_{7.6}$ soft magnetic alloys were investigated under the magnetic field annealing. As-cast ribbon with which already imbedded nanocrystalline Fe-Si phase on the surface have a preferred orientation with (400) plane to surface and also with the [011] direction parallel to the ribbon length. The extra nanocrystalline Fe-Si phase appeared throughout at 45$0^{\circ}C$ in samples with or without the longitudinal magnetic field. However the formation of nanocrystalline phase does not appear on the suface layer until 50$0^{\circ}C$ annealing temperature under the transverse field. The cryststallization fraction of annealed samples with longitudinal magnetic field is higher than that of samples without magnetic field. When the transverse magnetic field is applied, the crystallization fraction does not increases but decreases until 50$0^{\circ}C$. However the crystallization of internal regions can be confirmed by X-ray diffraction measurement via tilting the sample. It was found that for all samples, the saturation induction were all same with 1.3 T. The coercive field of as-cast sample was 1.06 A/cm, but in annealed samples it decrease from 0.56 to 0.1 A/cm with increasing annealing temperature from 400 and 55$0^{\circ}C$, respectively. The squareness of annealed samples under transverse magnetic field has a small value than that of both without field and with longitudinal field annealing.
Purpose: This is a retrospective study that investigated cancer patients' complaints of moderate or severe pain to analyze pain characteristics, pain relief interventions and their effects. Methods: The participants of this study were 363 patients who were hospitalized in the cancer ward for three to 30 days and scored 4 points or higher on the pain severity assessment. Results: The most frequent region of pain was the abdomen. The most frequent factor that exacerbated pain was movement. The most frequent pain alleviating factor was administration of analgesics. The most frequent pain type was breakthrough pain, and the most frequent non-pharmaceutical intervention for pain control was heat therapy. Among all, analgesics were routinely prescribed for 52.2% of the participants. Morphine sulfate was the most frequently used analgesic while Gabapentin was the most frequently used non-narcotic analgesic. At the time of discharge, 82.5% of the participants marked their pain intensity as 3 points or lower. Conclusion: For cancer patients complaining of moderate or severe pain, it is important to actively control pain from the beginning of admission. Thus, it is necessary to educate not only cancer patients using narcotic analgesic for pain control and their families but nurses about the effects and side-effects of drugs. Moreover, patients and their families need to learn how to assess and record pain at home to collect data that can be referred for future treatment.
ZITO/Ag/ZITO multilayer transparent electrodes at room temperature on glass substrates were prepared using RF/DC magnetron sputtering. Transparent conductive films with a sheet resistance of 9.4 Ω/㎡ and a transmittance of 83.2% at 550 nm were obtained for the multilayer structure comprising ZITO/Ag/ZITO (100/8/42 nm). The sheet resistance and transmittance of ZITO/Ag/ZITO multilayer films meant that they would be highly applicable for use in polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC)-based smart windows due to the ability to effectively block infrared rays (heat rays) and thereby act as an energy-saving smart glass. Effects of the thickness of the PDLC layer and the intensity of ultraviolet light (UV) on electro-optical properties, photopolymerization kinetics, and morphologies of difunctional urethane acrylate-based PDLC systems were investigated using new transparent conducting electrodes. A PDLC cell photo-cured using UV at an intensity of 2.0 mW/c㎡ with a 15 ㎛-thick PDLC layer showed outstanding off-state opacity, good on-state transmittance, and favorable driving voltage. Also, the PDLC-based smart window optimized in this study formed liquid crystal droplets with a favorable microstructure, having an average size range of 2~5 ㎛ for scattering light efficiently, which could contribute to its superior final performance.
In order to estimate the effect of flow distributors connected to an upper nozzle of CMT(Core Makeup Tank) on the thermal-hydraulic characteristics in the tank, a simplified 2 inch Small Break Loss of Coolant Accident(SBLOCA) was simulated by skipping the decay power and Passive Residual Heat Removal System(PRHRS) actuation. The CMT is a part of safety injection systems in the SMART (System Integrated Modular Advanced Reactor). Each test was performed with reliable boundary conditions. It means that the pressure distribution is provided with repeatable and reproducible behavior during SBLOCA simulations. The maximum flow rates were achieved at around 350 seconds after the initial opening of the isolation valve installed in CMT. After a short period of decreased flow rate, it attained a steady injection flow rate after about 1,250 seconds. This unstable injection period of the CMT coolant is due to the condensation of steam injected into the upper part of CMT. The steady injection flow rate was about 8.4% higher with B-type distributor than that with A-type distributor. The gravity injection during hot condition tests were in good agreement with that during cold condition tests except for the early stages.
A study was carried out to establish a detection method for irradiated black and white pepper. Samples were packed in polyethylene bags and irradiated with 2.5, 5, 7.5, 10 and 15 kGy using a Co-60 irradiator. The samples were suspended in water, and alkalized with sodium hydroxide solution. Apparent viscosity was determined after heat gelatinization using a Brookfield DV-III rotation viscometer at 30。C with 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, and 210 rpm. Means and standard deviations of the viscosities of all samples decreased by increasing the stirring speeds. The viscosities increased in all samples by increasing the concentration. Regression expressions and coefficients of viscosity which decreased with increasing irradiation dose of 10% and 13% black pepper, and 7% and 10% white pepper were 0.9531 (y=-131.29x+1,769.0), 0.9725 (y=-351.33x+4,036.0), 0.9731 (y=2,208.0e${^-0.3546X}$), and 0.9959 (y=5,116.0e${^-0.2887X}$), respectively, at 120 rpm. This trend was similar fur all stirring speeds. These results suggest that the detection of irradiated black and white pepper at various doses is possible by the viscometric method.
The purpose of this study was to identify the characteristics of consumers who purchase home meal replacements (HMR) and to analyze the differences for frequency of use, preference, satisfaction, and repurchase intention based on HMR product categories. The subjects were adults in their twenties or older, who had used HMRs and lived in Seoul and the Gyeonggi Province of Korea. Five-hundred and fifty subjects were chosen by random sampling, and questionnaires were distributed from March 12 to 30, 2005. A total of 451 questionnaires were returned (the rate of return was 82%). The primary results of the study are as follows. First, by analyzing for differences based on the demographical characteristics of the HMR consumers, men had higher 'frequencies of use' and preference, whereas women had higher satisfaction and 'intentions to purchase again.' This implies that HMRs assist women who are usually in charge of home food preparation, based on time and cooking effort; hence a higher satisfaction among the women. Second, by analyzing for differences based on the characteristics of HMR consumers who ate the products, 'frequency of use' (p<.001), preference (p<.01), satisfaction (p<.001), and 'intention to repurchase' (p<.001) for the 'ready to eat' HMR category, by the person who prepared the food, were significantly higher for those subjects in their 20s than for those in other age groups. As for persons influenced by the meal, the teen age group had significantly lower 'frequency of use'(p<.001), preference (p<.05), satisfaction (p<.01) and 'intention to repurchase' (p<.01) than other age groups. 'Frequency of use' (p<.001) and preference (p<.05) were lower if the person influenced by the meal was one's spouse or child than if the person influenced by the meal was oneself. Third, regarding the preference for eating at home or eating out, 'frequency of use' was significantly higher than the other analyzed factors for the 'ready to eat,' 'ready to heat,' and 'ready to end-cook' HMR categories. In short, the 'frequency of use' for HMRs was higher for those who preferred to eat at home versus eating out, simply as a result of being bored with eating out, which is essentially the reason for the origin of HMR.

PURPOSE : For the reconstruction of large bone defect after tumor resection, it is possible to reuse the bone involved by tumor with some treatment to it. Several bone-reusing methods have been reported such as autoclaving, low-heat treatment(pasteurization) and intraoperative radiotherapy. We have used extracorporeally radiated autogenous bone graft for reconstruction after tumor resection, and analyzed the periods for junctional union, functional results and complications to know the indications of this method. METHODS : From Dec. 1993 to Sept. 1995, nine patients had taken autogenous bone graft with extracorporeal irradiation. Eight cases were osteosarcoma and 1 giant cell tumor. The graft sites were 5 in femur, 3 proximal tibia and 1 femur and tibia. Stage 3 was 1 case(GCT), Stage IIB 3 and Stage IIIB 5. After wide resection, surrounding soft tissue and intramedullary and extramedullary portion of the tumor were removed. Radiation was done in 5000cGy to the resected bone. Ender nails and bone cement were inserted and filled into the medulla to prevent fracture. RESULTS : Average follow-up period was 12.3(4 to 21) months. Average junctional union period in simple X-ray was 6.5 months in 4 cases. Average functional score following Enneking's criteria was 19(12-27). Complications were as follows ; condylar fractures and femur neck fracture in 4 cases, subluxation of the knee joint 3 and infection 1. Although local recurrence was detected in 1 case, the site of recurrence was not in the radiated bone but surrounding soft tissue. At final follow-up, no recurrence was found in one case(GCT), CDF 2, AWD 2, DOD 3, and died of chemotherapy related sepsis 1. CONCLUSIONS : Extracorporeally radiated bone autograft is considered to be a method for reconstruction of the large bone defect made by tumor resection, especially in the reconstruction around the joint.
Pipe cooling method is widely used for reduction of hydration heat and control of cracking in mass concrete structures. However, in order to effectively apply pipe cooling systems to concrete structures, the coefficient of flow convection relating the thermal transfer between inner stream of pipe and concrete must be estimated. In this study, a device measuring the coefficient of flow convection was developed. Since a variation of thermal distribution caused by pipe cooling has a direct effect on internal forced flows, the developed testing device is based on the internal forced flow concept. Influencing factors on the coefficient of flow convection are mainly flow velocity, pipe diameter and thickness, and pipe material. Using experimental results from the developed device, the coefficient of flow convection was calculated. Finally, a general prediction model was proposed by theoretical procedures. The proposed prediction model is able to estimate the coefficient of flow convection with flow velocity and material properties of pipe. From comparison with experimental results, the coefficient of flow convection by this model was well agreed with those by experimental results.
