We have fabricated a down tapered polymer tip on optical fiber end-face by a guided UV light. One side of fiber was aligned with a mercury-xenon lamp and another was put into UV curable polymer. A shape of tip was controlled by adjusting an irradiance of lamp and time of exposure. A bending effect also affects the result. Optical characteristic was achieved preliminarily with solution of minute particles.

This paper describes the results of simulation of a CANDU operational transient problem (re-startup after short shutdown) using the Coupled Reactor Kinetics(CRKIN) code developed previously with CANDU Reactor Regulating System(RRS) logic. The performance in the simulation is focused on investigating the behaviours of neutron power and regulating devices in accordance with the changes of xenon concentration following the operation of the RRS.

Xe content is one of important factors related to characteristics of the mercury-free flat fluorescent lamp. The electro-optical properties of lamp were investigated for wide range of Xe content in Xe-Ne mixing gas. The maximum luminance of $9,289\;cd/m^2$ and efficacy of 3 lm/W was obtained with Xe 90 %.

By manufacturing 8" class $146{\times}96mm$ "flat fluorescent lamp" of new form that uses xenon gas, an electric optical characteristic has been analyzed. Lamp shows that the lamp surface brightness is 4900 cd/m2 and the birghtness uniformity degree is 90% under sine wave of 15khz and applied voltage of 1,000 Vrms.

To evaluate the color change of the dyed materials by ultraviolet and visible rays in the museum, a system that accelerates dye fading was developed. Radiation energy from a Xenon lamp is irradiated on the samples through the filters of defferent cut-on wavelengths. As a result, the color change as a function of the wavelength and irradiation is calculated.

In reactor operation, it is widely known that the absolute stability may not exist for multiple feedback paths even though the single lumped negative temperature coefficient feedback case is clearly stable at all frequencies above those creating xenon poisoning effects. However, interesting and useful stability information may be obtained from a two-path temperature coefficient feedback which can be represented in a water-cooled, water-moderated hetergeneous reactor. In this paper, the outline of an operating stability of a reactor having two-path temperature coefficient feedback is analyzed and described neglecting poison effects.

A nonlinear dynamic optimization has been performed for reactor power control system of CANDU 6 nuclear power plant considering xenon, fuel and moderator temperature feedback effects. Integral-of-Time-multiplied Absolute-Error (ITAE) criterion has been used as a performance index of the system behavior. Optimum controller gain are found by searching algorithm of Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP). System models are referenced from most recent literatures. Signal flow network construction and optimization have been done by using commercial computer software package.

This paper described about the system which can be inspect work roll surface for deciding a milling schedule and roll changing at hot strip mill in POSCO. Developed system consists of CCD camera, Xenon lamp with fiber bundle and mechanical control part. The water probe build up water pole between head of probe and roll surface to acquisite a good image from a work roll surface under the bad environment with steam, cooling water and high temperature. This system is possible to monitor a work roll surface of about 12${\times}$9mm. We have shown the validation of the developed system which can monitor the evolution of degradation on work roll surface.
