A Study on the Tree-dimensional Space Simukation using First Person Shooter leverl Editor (FPS레벨에디터를 이용한 1인칭 공간시뮬레이션에 관한 연구)

  • Digital simulation which was introduced to the architectural field due to the rapid growth of computer graphics, gave birth to a new type of contents called 'virtual reality', led by the interaction with the users and real time processing. The public attention is drawn to the virtual reality's potential as a next generational space simulation it, having the unique characteristics of 'simulation', 'interactivity', 'tole-presence', and 'immersion', is capable of taking a virtual tour of a space with a size equivalent to that of a real space, as well as proceeding with the design progress. Nonetheless, many problems impeding CPU's real time processing of an excessively loaded architectural model data have been pinpointed over the time. Yet such GPU based game engines as 'DirectX' and 'OpenGL', developed to deal with these impediments, have not been easily applied to the architectural simulation in the design process, due to the high license cost and the specific technical requirements for the system. The virtual reality has been developed and distributed centering around the gaming field, and game developers recently show a greater tendency to include level editors in the package for the expandability purpose. Thus, we plan to propose architecture simulation which utilizes level editors in this study. In addition, the compatibility of the game engine based level editors of Quake and Unreal which form the standards for the open source FPS games, based on VRML, the standard format for the virtual reality, was compared and analyzed. Taking the example of Villa Savoye of Le Corbusier, its application possibility as an architecture simulation was assessed, by measuring the extent to which the performance of such characteristic features of the virtual reality as interactivity, immersion, and tele-presence, was improved.

  • Chronic diseases are increasing nowadays as daily habits changed due to economic growth. Among chronic diseases, heart cerebrovascular disease is one of the major causes of death in South Korea that accounts for approximately 20% of mortality. Tests to measure anomaly of the heart is ECG tests, which measures and analyzes the electrical heart activity. Any mistakes in lead attachment location critically affects ECG testings, and statistical facts showed that only 2.8% of the nurses properly located leads to patients. As a solution, this paper proposes a system based on a projection-based augmented reality technology to generate X-ray images to the patient's chest to point out exact attachment locations of ECG leads. Evaluation comparison results showed a 2.6 cm difference between the conventional system and the proposed system. ECG test results also showed significant signal differences between the systems in leads V1, V2, and V3. The ECG measured accurately by the proposed system would help greatly in patient management and clinical decisions of clinicians.

  • Digital Signage and multi-view image system are used as the 4th media to deliver stories and information due to their strong immersion. A content image displayed on large Digital Signage is produced with the use of computer graphics, rather than reality image. That is because the images shot for content making have an extremely limited range of production and their limitation to high resolution, and thereby have difficulty being displayed in a large and wide Digital Signage screen. In case of Screen X and Escape that employ the left and right walls of in the center a movie theater as a screen, images are shot with three cameras for Digital Cinema, and are screened in a cinema with multi-view image system after stitching work is applied. Such realistic images help viewers experience real-life content. This research will be able to display high-resolution images on Digital Signage without quality degradation by using the multi-view image making technique of Screen X and Chroma key technique are showed the high-resolution Digital Signage content making method.

  • This paper is on a participatory spatial design methodology using Virtual Reality, which can be applied to the overall spatial design process. Participation in the current spatial design has several limitations: one-sided communication process, difficulty of understanding the given information and partial participation in the design process. Virtual Reality can be an ideal visualization tool for Geodesign and PPGIS(Public Participation GIS), which is presented as a highest step at the participation ladder. A participatory methodology is proposed to take advantage of Virtual Reality. In order to support participation through Virtual Reality in spatial design process, theories about the participation are compared to derive the new roles of Virtual Reality and the roles are formulated in the participatory spatial design methodology. By applying the methodology to the design process and implementing each stage through Virtual Reality, the design performance of each step can be verified in the methodology. As a result, design ideas can be effectively understood through Virtual Reality experiences. It is also confirmed that the interactions in Virtual Reality and participation are possible in the entire design process.

  • In this paper, we implemented a web-based 3D virtual pottery gallery Using VR authoring tools. With this system, we expect to cause learning motives and Provide more realistic and interactive learning space. Out system was implemented by making panorama images and 3D object modules using Photo Vista. Object Modeler and Reality Studio. Users can connect to this web site(http://artstory.x-y.net), rotate a pottery panoramically, and zoom it in or out. We designed this virtual gallery can have beneficial influence on students' aesthetic aspects through realistic work appreciations in their art education processes.

  • What difference does the metaverse experience have from the real world? This study investigated the effect of space size and dialogue topic on metaverse user experience. The results from a 3(space size: reality vs. metaverse in an open room vs. metaverse in a closed room) x 2(dialogue topic: positive vs. negative) mixed factorial design experiment (N = 75) revealed statistically significant effects of space on responsiveness, and dialogue topic on closeness. This result implies that designing metaverse for non-immersive devices should include careful considerations regarding the characteristics of the user's real space.

  • The PRODUCE 101 (Chinese version《创造101》) program is an "Idol Nurture" reality show bought by China's Tencent Video from the copyright of the Korean PRODUCE 101 program. The program's "Idol Nurture" pattern is concentrated in the four aspects of the "Semi-finished" training objects, the complementary nurturing goals, the key points of storytelling, and the extreme empowerment of training subjects. The "Idol Nurture" process is fully presented through the programming of the training processes inside entertainment companies, and the foregrounding of the back stages of the recording, trainees and entertainment companies. The "Idol Nurture" pattern of the program has attracted great attention and has been applauded by many because it better satisfies audiences' diversion utility, personal relation utility, and personal identity utility. This pattern of "Idol Nurture" program can provide insightful reference and valuable experience to the development of other reality talent shows.

Searle's Conception of Social Reality and the Problem of Freestanding Y Terms (설의 사회적 실재와 '비대응 Y항' 문제)

  • The main purpose of this paper is to survey the debates between Searle and Smith over the problem of "freestanding Y terms" in Searle's conception of social reality, and offer a viable solution, drawing on the experientialist conception of symbolic experience. Smith raises the problem of "freestanding Y term" against Searle's formula "X counts as Y in C" that there may be some cases where we cannot identify an X term to which an Y term refers. In case of an abstract concept such as equity, we may not find exactly what it stands for. That is, we cannot identify exactly what(X term) counts as equity. If there is nothing like an X for Y term, we can regard anything as equity, which may disrupt Searle's formula. Understandably, Smith does not say that the problem dismantles Searle's whole conception of social reality. Instead, Smith intends to show that Searle's formula is neither complete nor specific enough. Apparently, Searle admits that there may be freestanding Y terms and tries to articulate it within his formula, which does not seem to work. I suggest that the experientialist account of symbolic experience may serve to dissolve Smith's challenge, without modifying Searle's original formula. According to the experientialist conception of symbolization, we symbolically map some portion of our experience onto a physical object, which serves as a signifier, and we then understand and experience the signifier "in terms of" the mapped portion of experience. Thus, we experience certain buildings and some relevant people, say students, staffs, and professors in terms of "university." The status functions of university have been created by means of symbolic mappings, which change the way we understand and experience the buildings and people. In this picture, there need not be any notions such as "one-to-one correspondence" between X terms and Y terms. In this way, Searle may maintain his original formula, while dissolving, not answering, Smith's challenge. What Searle needs is a more appropriate theory of symbolization, part of which has been articulated by the experientialist account of symbolic experience.

  • The purpose of this study is to propose a plan to establish a system that can maximize the effectiveness of disaster safety training. A review of previous studies and analysis of current status cases was conducted to examine the current level of data, systems, demand technologies, laws, and systems for related fields. A disaster safety training system linking digital twin and extended reality technology was proposed, and a study on the construction plan was conducted for this. It is hoped that the results of this study can contribute to the advancement of the disaster safety training system and reduce disaster damage.

  • We can travel every imaginary world and do every impossible thing via 3D character. People interest in 3D character animation for modeling like real world due to the increase of 3D game and imaginary Virtual Reality on the internet. In this paper, new framework for present of 3D character of high quality is applied. I represent 3-dimensional Humanoid modeling and animation technology and show the adequacy via simulation for various and natural representation certificate using VRML as a Web3D information type and XML.
