  • This paper presents the development of a keypad test system for the improvement of working environment and productivity using PTC 16F877 microprocessor. In order to detect the fault of keypad products, hardware and software design is performed in this system. Keypad fault detection system is controlled by the 8 bit one chip PIC microcontroller for the exactness and speed. Developed panel of the keypad test system is comprised of the sub-panel for selecting in the inspected keypad types and the main panel f3r displaying the working order and fault position. Furthermore, all data from keypad inspection are stored in main memory of personal computer for the database. All these functions lead to the improvement of working speed and environment.

  • An optimization approach is used to solve the division problem of working area, and a cost function is defined to represent the constraints on the solution, which is then mapped onto the Hopfield neural network for minimization. Each neuron in the network represents a possible combination among many components. Division is achieved by initializing each neuron that represents a possible combination and then allowing the network settle down into a stable state. The network uses the initialized inputs and the compatibility measures among components in order to divide working area.

  • A third-order simulation model of VM heat pumps has been developed. This model allows consideration of the major losses such as heat conduction losses through regenerators and displacers, pumping losses and wall-to-gas heat transfer losses in working volumes, in addition to the heat exchanger and regenerator losses. The working volume was divided into 12 control volumes and conservation equations of mass and energy were applied to each control volume. Pressure drop was considered in regenerators only. Thermodynamic behavior of working fluid in a VM heat pump was investigated and effects of major losses on the performance of a VM heat pump were shown.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the functionally improved winter work clothing for the Korean railroad workers. Based on the questionnaires, sample clothing for the Korean railroad workers was produced. The design, materials, and patterns were modified to increase mobility and comfort for workers. Water-repellent treatment was added to the material in order to decrease the dirt and stains while working. Also, reflective strips were added to side seams and hems of the trousers in order to increase the visibility and safety of the workers. In terms of the design and pattern, a circumference of 4.5cm was added to the crotch area in order to minimize tightness on the hip and crotch areas, but no additional circumference was added to the hip area. And a 1cm width dart was inserted between the side seams and yoke in order to add activity. Also three 1.4cm width tucks were used at 2.5cm space on the knees to alleviate tightness at the knees. The prototype was evaluated objectively and subjectively to compare with the existing working uniform. The assessment group consisted of 5 subject groups and 11 expert groups to evaluate external appearance and adaptability of the movements. Subject and panels were asked to evaluate the prototype that followed an ergonomic design and pattern. According to the results, the prototype was evaluated better than the existing working uniform in appearance and adaptability. A field test was conducted to compare the prototype and the existing working uniform. The field tests were performed by 6 workers in the Korean railroad. According to the results, the prototype advanced in terms of adaptability and comfort.

  • Purpose: This present study has been conducted on female workers' shorter working hours in order to look into their fatigue level and the correlation between fatigue and working hours. Method: We surveyed 237 respondents using a questionnaire from June 1st to June 20th, 2005. Results: The means of total fatigue complaint was 3.45. The fatigue level was significantly higher in the lower age group, unmarried group, manager group and shorter working duration group. And the fatigue level was significantly correlated to working hours and work intensity. In the results of stepwise multiple regression, factors affecting the fatigue level were the change of work intensity, age, regular diet habit, working hours and the type of occupation. Conclusion: It is necessary to prepare the health promotion programs, which can reduce female workers' fatigue level and relieve the intensity of their works.

  • The study on the characteristics of heat transfer by various working fluid and wick structure is an important subject in order to design low temperature heat pipe. The purpose of this research was to study the heat transfer characteristics of heat pipe according to various working fluid and wick thickness by ADI method and experimental results. As the results the heat transfer by various working fluid could improve by good heat conductivity of fluid and small ratio t/k. The working fluid could be selected in close vicinity to boiling temperature among fluid properties the value of ratio little influenced heat transfer of heat pipe. In case of distilled water, the response of the effect in heat recovery was more rapidly showed than response of other working fluid. The maximum heat flux increased in proportion to the characteristics of working fluid but the pore and wick permeability among wick characteristic was little effect in the wetting state.

Data were collected from April 10, 2000 to July 10, 2000. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. According to general characteristics of the respondents, female was 90.8%. 42.1 % of them was in their twenties and 73.7% of them did not marry. 57.5% of the respondents grew up in big cities and 41.1% had no religion. 63.6% was graduated from junior colleges. 44.6% of them worked for below I year and 33.9% earned below four hundred and ninety thousand won per month. 55.8% of them was satisfied with their work aptitude, while 34.2% was not satisfied with it. In the case of satisfaction level with working environment, ‘common level’ was 46.3%, while 12.8% of them was unsatisfied with it. In the case of stress level by factors of stress related to working, male was higher (9.34 $\pm$ 2.38 points). Those who grew up in towns or villages and those who belonged to the middle class showed high stress level. Those who married and those who graduated from high school also displayed high stress level. It also appeared that monthly income influenced the stress level related to working.. The extent of stress level influencing physical causes appeared in order of health condition, education level, sex, satisfaction level with work aptitude, economic status, and working hours. The extent of stress level influencing whole organizational level appeared in order of satisfaction level with work aptitude, working hours, education level, health condition, and sex. The extent of stress factors influencing depressed feeling of stress symptom appeared in order of working hours, sex, amount of smoking, absence due to stress, age, health condition, and education level. The extent of influencing factors on active stress management appeared in order of satisfaction level with work aptitude, health condition, size of the shop, drinking, sex, and the number of day off. The extent of influencing factors on avoidable stress management appeared in order of age, absence due to stress, drinking, health condition, and sex.

  • This study is about the evaluation of the color arrangements of working clothes that are harmonized with working environment and assist in the protection of workers in industrial sites. This study attempted color arrangement design with the intention of giving order to the colors of working environment and working clothes so as to help improve the safety of work and the management aspects including human resource management, efficiency improvement, and the practice of business ethics. The study method consisted of literature research, empirical research, and evaluation research. The literature research performed theoretical examination about colors, industrial safety, and visibility. Three actual outdoor work sites in the machine industry were chosen and pictures were taken at 20-30 m from workers. The background colors of the work environment of each work site and the colors of the working clothes that were actually worn were analyzed through color values measured with a color-difference meter(CR-400). As a result, it was found that between value and chroma which affect visibility, color arrangement based on differences in chroma could be a greater influence than color arrangement based on differences in value. The results of this study could assist the integration of color schemes among working environment colors, people and working clothes by suggesting color arrangements with improved visibility that are applicable to the working clothes of domestic machine manufacturers that are playing a pivotal role in domestic industries and by presenting appropriate guidelines.
