  • Multiaxial loading by combinations of tension-torsion-internal pressure have been applied to the thins-walled tubular specimens prepared from cold drawn tubes of SAE 1020 steel. Prior to the multiaxial loading, each specimen has been twisted to different shear strains. Uniaxial tensile yield stresses measured at different angles to the tube axis clearly show that the initial orthotropic symmetry is maintained during twisting. The orthotropy axes are observed to rotate with shear strains. The plane stress yield locus measured for each twisted specimens show that yield surface shape does not remain similar during twisting and thus anisotropic work hardening is not a function of only plastic work.

  • Anisotropic work hardening of cold rolled low carbon steel sheets is studied. The experiments consist of two stage tensile prestraining and tensile tests. At the first prestraining, steel sheets are streteched along the rolling direction by 3% and 6% tensile strains. The second prestrains are at 0${\cric}$, 30${\cric}$, 60${\cric}$to the rolling directions by varying degrees. Tensile tests are performed on the specimens cut from the sheets after the two stage prestraining. A theoretical framework on anisotropic hardening is proposed which includes Hill's quadratic yield function, ziegler's kinematic hardening rule, and Kim and Yin's assumption on the rotation of orthotropy axes. The predicted variations of R-values with second stage tensile strain are compared with the experimental data.

  • Hole injection characteristics have been investigated with various metal anodes such as Ni, Pt, Cu, and AI for the top emission polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs). Devices were composed of metal anode, Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with polystyrene sultponated acid (PEDT:PSS), poly [2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyoxy)-1,4-phenylene-vinylene] (MEH-PPV) and Al cathode. The hole injection from ITO anode has been also investigated for the comparison. The I-V characteristics of the PLEDs with different metal anodes were measured. The work function of the anode is strongly related to the hole injection of the device. The current density of the device with Ni anode with higher work function was higher than that of the device with ITO or AI anode at the same operating voltage.

  • In this work, we consider a real time optimal control problem of mechanical systems with restrictions for actuators i.e. input restrictions and constraints for the movable area i.e. state constraints. First, we formulate an optimal control problem which evaluates the cost function for a finite time horizon with input restrictions and state constraints of a wheeled vehicle as an example of mechanical systems. In this problem, the differentiability of the cost function is not required and this implies that the problem cannot be solved analytically. Therefore, in this work, we use an optimization method to solve the optimal control problem and a new real time optimization method is proposed to solve the problem. In this method, we provide a parameter that indicates the ...

  • While quasars are sparse in number density, they reside at relatively high-redshift as compared to e.g. luminous red galaxies. Hence, they are likely to be less non-linearly evolved than the galaxy population, and thus have a distribution that more closely mirrors the primordial density field. Therefore, they offer an intriguing opportunity to search for Baryonic Acoustic Oscillations (BAO). To this end, the 3-point correlation function (3PCF) is an excellent statistical tool to detect BAO. In this work, we will make the first-ever measurement of the large-scale quasar 3PCF from the SDSS-IV DR14 quasar sample (spanning the largest volume to-date). This work will use the order N2-time 3PCF algorithmof Slepian & Eisenstein (2015), with N the number of objects.

  • In this paper, simple but very effective techniques to suppress subthreshold hump effect for high-voltage (HV) complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) technology are presented. Two methods are proposed to suppress subthreshold hump effect using a simple layout modification approach. First, the uniform gate oxide method is based on the concept of an H-shaped gate layout design. Second, the gate work function control method is accomplished by local ion implantation. For our experiments, $0.18{\mu}m$ 20 V class HV CMOS technology is applied for HV MOSFETs fabrication. From the measurements, both proposed methods are very effective for elimination of the inverse narrow width effect (INWE) as well as the subthreshold hump.

  • While quasars are sparse in number density, they reside at relatively high-redshift as compared to galaxies. Hence, they are likely to be less non-linearly evolved than the galaxy population, and thus have a distribution that more closely mirrors the primordial density field. Therefore, they offer an intriguing opportunity to search for primordial non-Gaussianity (PNG). To this end, the 3-point correlation function (3PCF) is an excellent statistical tool to detect departures from Gaussianity, vanishing for a Gaussian field. In this work, we will make the first-ever measurement of the large-scale quasar 3PCF from the SDSS-IV DR14 quasar sample (spanning the largest volume to-date) to place constraints on PNG through the usual f_NL-type parametrization. This work will use the order N^2-time 3PCF algorithm of Slepian & Eisenstein (2015), with N the number of objects.

  • This paper examines that it is possible to apply RWCIM for determining eigenvector coefficients associated with eigenvalues for V-notched cracks in anisotropic dissimilar materials using the complex stress function. To verify the RWCIM algorithm, two tests will be shown. First it is performed to ascertain whether predicted coefficients associated with eigenvectors is obtained exactly. Second, it makes an examination of the state of stress for FEM and RWCIM according to a number of eigenvectors at a location far away from the V-notched crack tip.

  • The structural and the electronic properties of pentacene on modified Si (001) were investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). Dodecane was used to modify Si (001) substrates and then pentacene was deposited on dodecane/Si (001). Our STM results show a uniform distribution of aggregated dodecane molecules all over the clean Si (001). The surface structure of pentacene on dodecaene/Si (001) examined by AFM is analogous to that of pentacene on $SiO_2$. The UPS data showed that the work function of pentacene on clean Si (001) and pentacene on modified Si (001) with dodecane was 6.41 and 5.57 eV, respectively. Our results prove that dodecane results in the work function difference between pentacene on clean Si (001) and pentacene on dodecane/Si (001).
