  • Background: This study aimed to create and present content that can be used in the dental hygiene ethics process to help dental hygiene students develop desirable work ethics and ethical values. Methods: In order to operate the dental hygiene ethics course in all academic systems, one three-year dental hygiene professor and one four-year dental hygiene professor participated in setting core competencies and learning goals for the dental hygiene ethics course. The class consisted of two credits, two hours of theoretical classes, and class activity sheets developed according to the learning contents and learning topics for each week that can be operated for 15 weeks. Results: The contents of the dental hygiene ethics subject were developed to be conducted as theoretical education and case-oriented discussion classes. The 15-week class consisted of a theory lecture on dental hygiene work ethics (eight weeks), discussions and presentations for ethical decisions based on actual cases related to dental hygiene ethics (four weeks), and the design and presentation of individual professional mission statements and codes of conduct (three weeks). The class data for each week consisted of four stages: "Learning goal-thinking," "open-thinking," "learning content-thinking," and "according to learning goal." Conclusions: In order to establish desirable workplace ethics and ethical values for dental hygiene students, it is necessary to approach education in a way that values understanding and application of dental hygiene practices, legal and ethical standards, ethical decision-making models, and ethical principles.

  • To examine the psychological characteristics and work ethics of Hanwoo managers, we selected 26 of the 50 managers who took part in this study to avoid unreliable response and non-description from the questionnaire. The core results of this study were the following: First, cronbach's ${\alpha}$ reliability with highest domain in this study were obtained from character strengths (.938), followed by job satisfaction (.841), internal evaluation (.799), and external evaluation (.739). Second, for perception and attitude of Hanwoo management, the correlation between job satisfaction and internal evaluation (P<0.05) was observed. Management satisfaction showed higher for intermediate group and subgroup and lower satisfaction for the top group. Third, there were statistical differences (P<0.05) in ten character strengths (curiosity, judgment, creativity, social intelligence, wisdom, honesty, optimism, responsibility, humor, and passion) according to group satisfaction. Ten character strengths were lower in creativity (7.14) and higher in responsibility (8.57) in comparison with other items for the top group. • Endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are chemicals present in the environment that interfere with the normal hormone functions of various organisms and cause genetopathy, deformities, or cancer. This study surveyed the awareness of EDCs with 242 cooking staff at 242 meal service facilities for children located in a part of Gyeonggi Province. To minimize infants' exposure to EDCs, the subjects were provided with information on EDCs for two months. The behavior of reducing exposure to EDCs was analyzed according to the awareness of EDCs and work ethics. In addition, the effects before and after being provided with the information were evaluated. According to the results, the levels of awareness of EDCs and work ethics' scores of the cooking staff were high with 3.95 and 4.39 points, respectively, out of five points. In addition, a higher awareness of EDCs and a higher work ethics' score were associated with an improved behavior of reducing exposure to EDCs (P<0.05). The overall cooking and cleaning behavior for reducing exposure to EDCs showed improvement after providing information (P<0.01). Therefore, these results suggest that it is important to provide continuous education to enhance the awareness of EDCs, work ethics, and behavior to reduce exposure to EDCs.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to identify the most common misconducts in publication ethics, to demonstrate KODISA journals' management of the misconducts, and to share the findings with future and potential authors of Journal of Research and Publication Ethics (JRPE). Research design, data and methodology: This is an analytical study that explores and examines research and publication ethics and misconducts. Results: Based on literature review, major publication misconducts that many academic journals had to contend with over the years encompass unethical authorship, including ghost, guest, and gift authorships, data falsification and fabrication, plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, submission and publication fraud (multiple submission and publication), and potential conflicts of interest. Conclusions: KODISA and its journals have strived and done great work in making the journals transparent and in combatting the issues associated with plagiarism, including self-plagiarism. However, it seems there is no mechanism to detect or deter unethical authorship, conflicts of interest, and fabrication and falsification misconducts. The inception of JRPE signifies how KODISA and its journals continuously view research and publication ethics as their foremost important factor in maintaining and improving the academic journals. The future research and scholastic manuscripts of JRPE could provide necessary and updated information about research and publication ethics, practices, and misconducts.
