Background: Coal mining is a hazardous industry. The purpose of the study is to identify the nature of occupational injuries and diseases among coal miners and to determine the factors that affect the rate of injury and duration of time loss from work. Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using accepted workers' compensation claims data of 30,390 Australian coal miners between July 2003 and June 2017. Results: Musculoskeletal and fracture conditions accounted for approximately 60% of claims in all occupational groups. Cox regression analysis showed that older age and female gender were significant predictors of longer time off work. Injury types and occupations were associated with work time loss: mental health conditions, and machine operators and drivers had significantly longer durations of time off work. Conclusion: Future research can further address how these factors led to longer time off work so that coal industry regulators, employers, and healthcare providers can target interventions more effectively to these at-risk workers.

To find a way for establishing work roll initial crown according to roll conditions, computer simutation for predicting plate crown in plate mill is done and effects of roll conditions on plate crown is analyzed. Toll gap rorfile and plate crown are measured to be compared to the calculated values. As a result, regression equation to establish work roll initial crown according to roll conditions such as backup roll diameter, backup roll crown and work roll diameter is obtained.
This study aimed to analyze the attitudes which married women, who are employed or not, have to the four flexible work conditions; flexible working hours, home-based work, guarantee of reentering into the work place, and a certain allocation of women's labor force. Whether the married women were employed or not, they showed a favorable attitude to the four flexible work conditions. For the married women who were not employed, their age, education level, husband's occupation, their wanted income(if they have a job), and work experience were significant variables to affect the attitudes to each work condition. In contrast to above results, the attitudes to each work condition that the employed women had were significantly different according to more various variables including personal variables, child related variables, and work related variables. suggest that married women hoped the sex conscious systems would be introduced in the labor market.

Work roll wear in the cold rolling of mild steel strip is strongly affected by rolling materials, rolling conditions and lubrication. The tests were performed to find the effects of rolling materials under the same lubrication conditions. The obtained results are as follfws; 1) The decrease in surface roughness of work roll is more rapid in that case of continuously cast A1-killed steel strip than ingot cast steel strip. In rolling of continuously cast A1-killed steel strip, worn powder rich in A1$\_$2/O$\_$3/sticks to the work roll surface, and so it makes the mirror surface of work roll accelerate. 2) Amount of work roll wear is small in rolling of continuously cast A1-killed strip. 3) In rolling of continously cast A1-killed steel strip, it is necessary to put up the intial surface roughness of work roll in order to prevent work roll slip.
Backround: Working condition surveys are widely recognized as useful tools for monitoring the quality of working life and the improvements introduced by health and safety policy frameworks at the European and national level. The Italian Workers' Compensation Authority carried out a national survey (Insula) to investigate the employer's perceptions related to working conditions and their impact on health. Methods: The present study is based on the data collected from the Italian survey on health and safety at work (INSULA) conducted on a representative sample of the Italian workforce (n = 8,000). This focuses on the relationship between psychosocial risk factors and self-reported health using a set of logistic and linear regression models. Results: Working conditions such as managerial support, job satisfaction, and role act as protective factors on mental and physical health. On the contrary, workers' risk perceptions related to personal exposure to occupational safety and health risks, concern about health conditions, and work-related stress risk exposure determine a poorer state of health. Conclusions: This study highlights the link between working conditions and self-report health, and this aims to provide a contribution in the field of health at work. Findings show that working conditions must be object of specific preventive measures to improve the workers' health and well-being.
In this study, the relative importance for the perception of managers on the comprehensive rural village development projects was evaluated using the AHP method. The fields for evaluation were 4 fields including human relationships, working conditions, work compensation and work burnout. Also, the relative importance for the perception of managers and priority order were analyzed through 15 evaluation items. The analysis result shows that the human relationships among 4 fields were regarded as the most important field, followed by work compensation, working conditions and work burnout. Also, the relationship with the chairperson for the human relationships, continuity of employment for the working conditions, salary for work compensation, and mental stress for work burnout were considered respectively as the most important item. Also, salary among all evaluation items was considered as the most important item for the relative importance, followed by continuity of employment, relationship with village residents and mental stress. However, work load, consulting firms, impersonal treatment and the relations between the administration showed relatively low importance and priority order. It is considered that this analysis result will be used as important preliminary data for establishing the role of manager in the comprehensive rural village development project.
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of shift work on occupational safety in various industrial sectors. The study analyzes the effects of shift work on the health of workers by considering factors such as the workplace environment and welfare. Methods: Focusing on the $4^{th}$ Korean Working Conditions Survey, this study used an ordinary least-square multiple regression analysis. The dependent variable was the annual frequency of injuries reported by workers. Independent variables were categorized as demographic, shift work, workplace environment, and welfare variables. The analysis was conducted on two levels: 1) Shift work and nonshift work groups were compared, and 2) Shift work was compared with fixed and rotating shifts. Results: For the entire group, age, a low level of education, work hours, and daily and dispatch work negatively impacted the frequency of injuries. Shift work was negatively affected by workplace environment and welfare factors. In the shift group, the frequency of injuries was lower than that of regular workers, and the higher the autonomy in the choice of work hours, the lower the frequency of injuries. Furthermore, shift workers in Korea have more extended work hours (49.25 h/week) than other workers (46.34 h/week). Conclusion: Overall, welfare factors such as workplace satisfaction and worke-life balance reduced the frequency of injuries. The effect of shift work was limited, but it was confirmed that shift worker autonomy could reduce the frequency of injuries.
This paper suggested the best work conditions including short break time and the number of mouse clicks on the computer work for the prevention of MSDs on VDT work. Fatigue measures included EMG based parameters. The short break time conditions are grouped into 7, 15, and 30 seconds after every work for 10 min and the number of mouse clicks are divided into 10, 20, and 30 clicks/min. The result of the ANOVA of the shift value of %MVC(Maximum Voluntary Contraction) showed the following: 1) There was a considerable difference as regards to the break time except the number of mouse clicks on the upper trapezius muscle(p$<$0.05). The best conditions were shown in 15 sec after every 10 min and 30 clicks/min. 2) There were considerable differences as regards to the number of mouse clicks except the break time on the extensor digitorum muscle and extensor carpi ulnaris muscle(p$<$0.05). The best conditions were shown in 7 sec after every 10min and 10 clicks/min.
This study was planned to analyze the effect of the types of employment on work-related injury experience. The types of employment may have influenced on working conditions including the exposure to risk factors. Korean Working Conditions Survey have collected the various working conditions as household survey with structured questionnaire. The probability of work-related injury of self-employed is more than that of regular worker. But there is no difference of probability of work-related injury experience between regular and irregular worker controlled by general characteristics and the exposure to risk factors. Authors have found that the type of employment have indirect effect on work-related injury experience via the exposure to risk factors. The result of this study may be heuristic one because of data limitation as cross sectional survey data. In future, well designed survey data can evaluate the effect of the type of employment on safety and health status.
This study is to understand the relationship between turnover and various conditions. Turnover refers to workers moving from one company to another, which exists in various ways and forms. Currently, a large number of workers are considering many turnover rates to satisfy their income levels, distance between work and residence, and age. In addition, they consider changing jobs a lot depending on the type of work, the decision-making ability of workers, and the level of education. The company needs to accept the conditions required by workers so that competent workers can work for a long time and predict what measures should be taken to convert them into long-term workers. The study was conducted because it was necessary to predict what conditions workers must meet in order to become long-term workers by comparing various conditions and turnover using regression and decision trees. It used Microsoft Azure machines to produce results, and it found that among the various conditions, it looked for different items for long-term work. Various methods were attempted in conducting the research, and among them, suitable algorithms adopted algorithms that classify various kinds of algorithms and derive results, and among them, two decision tree algorithms were used to derive results.
