Purpose: Vitamin D is a fundamental element for bone metabolism. Recently vitamin D deficiency has been implicated in various diseases such as a cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancers. The aim of this study was to identify the risk factors associated with serum vitamin D deficiency among women office workers. Methods: We selected 369 women office workers using the secondary data of the 5th National Health & Nutrition Examination Survey 2010-2012. Data was analyzed by logistic regression of complex sampling design. Results: Women office workers with vitamin D deficiency, defined serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration < 10ng/mL, were 12.5%. The risk factors for vitamin D deficiency were 20s aged group, married state and more than 40 working hours a week. The risk of vitamin D deficiency was decreased in those with alcohol drinking 1 to 4 times a month. The education level, income, region, smoking, physical activity and sun exposure time did not affect the risk of vitamin D deficiency significantly. Conclusion: Development of vitamin D deficiency prevention educational programs are required for women office workers who more than 40 hours a week in 20s. It should be considered health education including sun exposure duration and behavior.

This study investigates the effects on the performance of women workers' work-family relationship. As reduced conflict with maintain a harmonious relationship between work and family of women workers, improving the quality of work of women workers, look into an effective support system for maximizing the effectiveness of women workers. The final sample size for this study was 500. The results were as follows. First, the harmonious relationship between work and family have significant positive effects on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of women workers. This implies that companies should make an effort to maintain harmonious work-family relationship for women employees and can enhance individual atisfaction and ultimately lead to corporate performance. Second, according to the result of verifying the second hypothesis that conflictive work-family relationship will affect employees' satisfaction negatively, there was partial support. In other words, conflictive work-family relationship influenced job satisfaction negatively, but it showed no correlation with organizational commitment. This result suggests that it has direct relationship with the job that is being actually carried out and indirect relationship with the organization. Third, based on the result of verifying the hypothesis on the moderate effect of non-occupational supporting systems which proved to be partially moderate effect. In short, this study has proved the importance of women workers' work-family relationship. Furthermore, the study results imply that it is necessary to establish supporting systems to minimize women workers' conflictive work-family relationship. It is also particularly urgent for companies to make non-occupational supporting systems.
Purpose: This study aims to investigate whether there is a difference in the prevalence of hypertension according to gender, occupational group, and occupational group according to gender. Research design, data, and methodology: This study classified the occupational groups according to the gender of men and women between the ages of 20 and 49 into office workers and non-office workers from the 7th 2017 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. A total of 2,691 people were surveyed, including 1,394 office workers and 1,297 non-office workers. Frequency analysis, chi-square, and Independent T-test for distribution difference analysis of categorical variables analysis for occupation and hypertension were applied. Statistical significance was verified at 0.001 to determine the validity analysis. All statistical analyses were performed using the IBM SPSS 24.0 program. Results: The main risk factors for hypertension were gender, age, education, obesity, smoking, drinking, family history, and chronic diseases. There were differences in the prevalence of hypertension among office workers and non-office workers. Conclusions: Men had a higher prevalence of hypertension than women, while non-office workers had a higher prevalence than office workers. In the case of women, non-office workers have a higher prevalence of hypertension than white-collar workers.
The purpose of this study was to survey working conditions of women workers. We conducted a field survey of 504 manufacturing company with many women working from May 13 to June 29, 2002. We focused on only 3 categories of metal, textile and electronics industry. The result were as follows : 1. Subjects were constituted metal 27.0%, textile 37.9% and electronics industry 35.1%. Size distribution was small scale(<50 workers) 38.1%, medium(50-299 workers) 50.2% and large(${\geq}300$ workers) company 11.7%. Women workers' proportion was 43.6% of total workers, 63.8% of total contractors. 2. A medical examination enforcement of contractors workers was very poor in comparison with that of employees(p<0.001). 3. A 53.8% of total companies have conducted shiftwork system and 2-crew 2-shift(12 hours shift system) ranked first, 56.1%(151 companies). 4. Only 61.3% of total companies conducted more than 90 days as legal standard of a maternity leave and only 2.6% of total companies had a day nursery. In conclusion, many strategies for women workers are needed by companies and government. For example, the raising of understanding about maternity protection, social support insurancing of woman worker and occupational health system improvement for contractors and small size companies.

One of the fastest-growing job categories for women in both the developed and the developing nations of the world is that of self-employment. In 1990 women accounted for 29% of all self employed workers. In Korea, self-employed women including unpaid family workers accounted for 40.4% of all female workers. They are in economically low status and have heavy workload. So, this study examines the real state and problems of self-employed woman. For this purpose, the transition of the number of self-employed women is nationally compared. And the statistical data and time use data on them and role conflict due to paid work and household work are presented. In the future society, self-employment will be a good alternative to self-realization and career for women. So, for self-employed women, following education is needed according to stages of business and characteristics of managers; entrepreneurship, management, and balance of work and family.
Historically, women's health needs have been viewed primarily as reproductive, and all other health needs have been dealth with without considering their responses to disease and treatment(Strickland & Giger, 1994). It has mostly been through the efforts of women's group, especially health care team, that more recognition has been given to the overall health of women worker in recent years. The purpose of this study was to examine the depression, self-esteem and health practice in order to identify health care strategies to improve health promotion among women workers in small workplace. The consisted of 94 women workers who work at small manufacturing industry. The data were collected from January to February, 2002. The instruments for this study was Rogenburgs self-esteem scale, Zung s depression self-reporting scale and Breslow & Enstrom s health habits scale. The analysis of data were performed with frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA. $\chi^2$ test, pearson correlation and multiple regression using SPSS Win 10.1 program. 1. The average depression score was 1.87 which is relatively low and the average self-esteem score was 2.75 which is relatively moderate. The total mean score for health practice was 4. 10(range 0-7) which is relatively high moderately. 2. Health practice had not a statistically significant correlation with depression and self-esteem, but the depression had a statistically significant correlation with self-esteem(r=-.401, p=.000). 3. There was not a significant difference In depression, self-esteem and health practice according to the general characteristics 4. There was a significant difference in sub category of health practice according to the status of living with family and status of marriage. As far as the health practice of women workers living with family practiced better health than women workers no living with family concerning breakfast(p=.03) and as far as the health practice of women workers no living with family practiced better health than women workers living with family concerning sleeping time(p=.04). There was a significant difference in breakfast(p=.04), smoking(p=.00), and BMI(p=.05) according to the status of marriage. 5. The major factor was age and explained for $7\%$ of health practice. The repeated study should be carried out to figure out the health practice and its related factors of female workers at small manufacturing industry.
The objective of this study was to investigate the nutritional and health status of women industrial workers by working fields. One hundred forty eight (105 lead and 43 office) workers were recruited from March 2005 to October 2005. Information on age, education, smoking and drinking status were collected using questionnaire and nutrient intake and diet quality of workers were assessed by average of two-day 24 hr recall method. Biochemical indexes including blood lead level (PbB), indexes for iron status, serum calcium (Ca) and serum lipid profiles were analyzed from fasting venous blood or serum. Results showed that education level of lead workers was lower than that of office workers (p<0.05), but nutrient intake levels were not significantly different by working fields. Overall nutritional status of the subject were good except for calcium, vitamin $B_2$, C and folic acid intakes. PbB of lead workers were significantly higher than that of office workers while mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC) and serum Ca levels were significantly lower in lead workers. MCHC was positively correlated with zinc intake (r=0.166) and serum Ca was positively correlated with vitamin C intake (r=0.179). This study confirms that lead workers need extra care to keep their health and nutritional management especially for the nutrients known to interact with lead. Tailored nutrition education for workers at specific working fields needs to be more focused for the improvement of health status of industrial workers.
This qualitative study explores social workers' phenomenological experiences with battered women, including their struggles and needs for building and maintaining an empathic identification with their battered women clients. Twelve interviews were conducted with social workers who have provided services in the domestic violence field over the last two years. They identified their clients prejudices and unfamiliarity with counseling and social work profession in Korea as related to battered women clients' initial resistance to social workers' empathic engagement. The nature of victimization between intimate partners (i.e., emotional bounds, continuing risks of victimization) requires workers' enormous energy to maintain their need for an empathic identification with their clients. Social workers emphasized the importance of clinical supervision and supportive networks that enable them to maintain their professional energy and commitment as an empathic helper.
The purpose of this study was to estimate industrial workers' health habits by sex. Data was collected from 900 workers at 57 industries in Inchon. The research has been carried out through self-administered questionnaires and from the analysis of health examination records. The results were as follows: 1. The most prevalent age group of women were 20-30 years age group(44.3%) and of men were 30-40 years one(45.6%). As for the marital status, 48.1% of women were single and as were 30% of men. High school graduates were over 62.2% of both sex, 32.5% of the men and 58.0% of the women worked between 1 and 5 years. 2. As far as the health habits, women practiced better than men in smoking, drinking and breakfast habits while men practiced better than women in exercise, sleeping and snack habits(p<0.001). 3. According to the odds ratio of health habits by sex, gender was related to health practices in the present study, men had worse health habits than women by 139.83 times in smoking, by 6.97 times in drinking consumption(p<0.001). And as for eating regular breakfast habits, women had better health habits than men by 2.53 times(p<0.001). 4. Good health practice scores(5-7) were 25.0% in women and 12.6% in men and those had bad health practice (0-4) were 75.0% in women and 87.5% in men(p<0.001). 5. According to the results of multiple logistic regression to examine the difference of health habits by sex, men had worse health habit than women by 114.5 times in smoking, by 3.1 times in alcohol consumption more than once per week in control of the other factors. Women had better health habits than men by 4.5 times in regular breakfast habits. 6. Health habits had a statistically significant association with good health status among men, but the relationship was nonsignificant in the women. According to the odds ratio, men who had bad health habits were poorer health status than who had good health habits by 1.95 times(p<0.05).
This study analyzed the time use of dual income paid workers. The data was selected from the '2009 Korean Time Use Survey' by the Korean National Statistical Office. There were 2799 respondents who were paid workers with dual income. There were big differences in time use between men and women. The result showed that men's time allocation focused on 'labor and leisure' and women's time allocation focused on ‘labor and housework'. This means the women among dual income paid workers faced difficulties in dual burden of work-family balance. Regression analysis on time use dividing men and women showed that age, education, income, working type and the presence of preschool children had significant effects on time allocation. We found the income effects on time use which reduced paid working time and increased housework and leisure time. Significantly, younger men who have preschool children spend more time in housework. We could find the possibility of a change in men's time allocation.
