  • This study was performed to improve the effectiveness of dietary education using a food ethics approach. Dietary education is a way of practicing food ethics based on Korean culture. The core values of dietary education and the keywords related to food ethics can be combined into environment·life, health·wisdom, and consideration·happiness. Sustainable dietary life comprises the value system of dietary education based on core values. To reach the ultimate goal of food ethics-sustaining the survival of the human race, the coexistence of humans and nature, the coexistence of humans and humans, and the fulfillment of food requirements are needed. These needs yield certain core principles, including respect for life, environmental preservation, justice, the priority of consumers, dynamic equilibrium, and the priority of safety. The extended ethical matrix with six core principles and three interest groups can be used for an ethical analysis either qualitative or quantitative. It is believed that if food ethics are introduced into dietary education programs, the effectiveness of education can be improved.

  • This study aims to extract and analyze the bibliotherapeutic values/situations of Korean folk-tales for multi-cultural families in Korea. By analyzing 27 stories in the Korean folk-tale picture book written in two languages(Korean & English), we can find out 5 kinds of situational analysis as follows: (1) There are more men than women by the biological sex factor, whereas there are more adults than younger persons by the biological age discrimination. (2) For the space concept, there are a lot of socially related stories in their surroundings. (3) In the vertical relationship, there are more conflict elements than in the horizontal one. (4) There are more helpers from the outside than in the inside circle for the solution of their problems. (5) As a story theme, greed, wisdom, belief and family component elements are greatly involved in the stories. Among their beliefs, there are a lot of wisdom and greed themes, while piety and royalty to parents and conflict against stepmothers are among the family components. All of these would be an archetype of Korean culture, which can play an important role not only to understand Korean lifestyle for the multi-cultural families, but also to learn and practice bibliotherapeutic values.

  • This article aims to describe the institutional structuring strategy of independent smallholders in accelerating sustainable economic development, by taking the example of the cow-coconut integration system (SISKA) problem in Sialang Palas Village, Riau. The method used identified stakeholders related to SISKA; the stakeholder's goals and interests, farmers' social and institutional bases, and self-help farmer socio-economic networks. First, identification of various factors through strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) analysis techniques. Second, through the Modern Political Economy analysis technique. Third, imparting knowledge and skills to the farmers and village officials through a collective learning process in utilizing natural resource waste and social resources. The results showed that the farmer management strategy in the reform era started by clustering the interests of farmers. The dynamics of structuring group relations between the chairman and members with farmers outside the group are the basis for strengthening the local ideology of independence in the future. This institutional structuring strategy that focuses on access to farm power in the village decision-making process encourages a more integrated work of farmer organizations. The analysis above shows that the independent smallholder institutional engineering through regulation, organization, and resources are determined by the farmer household economic factors and the application of the value of local wisdom.

  • In this paper we analyze the technological accumulation processes in the Korean semiconductor industry from the institutional approach. Institutional approach, which is closely connected with Neo-Schumpeterian tradition, has emerged as an alternative theoretical framework to neoclassical approach to understand the process of producing technological knowledge. Traditional wisdom of neoclassical approach revealed the limitation to explain the complex nature of knowledge creation and diffusion. US patent data are analyzed in terms of the increasing trend of numbers and its content to measure the rate and direction of technological capability accumulation. This analysis shows that semiconductor technologies are one of the fastest growing fields among Korean technological activities. Moreover, the analysis of patent content suggests that fabrication technologies are the most important area within the technological development of semiconductors, whilst circuit design and testing technologies are beginning to increase in significance. In addition, it is examined how private sectors and public institutions have contributed to generate technological capabilities, and the relationship between them has been changed during the development processes. It is found that Korean firms enhanced their technological capabilities from the learning and assimilation of imported technology to enhanced in-house R&D capabilities in the later stage. The support of public institution and government policy also played significant role to this successful transformation in conjunction with vigorous R&D investment of public sector.

  • Rapid advances in information technology(IT) and telecommunication systems impact the number and quality of decision-making in organizations. Specifically, middle mangers must posses or develop the creativity necessary for survival in a constantly changing and volatile business environment. While tradition and conventional wisdom tell us that a middle managers role centers on control and monitoring, todays competitive arena has spun out a new managerial requirement developing and maintaining an innovative attitude. Problematically, most previous research has focused on the issue of changing decision authority (i. e. centralization/decentralization). Moreover, much previous research has also largely ignored environmental changes exposing new roles that middle managers have assumed. This study explores the means of identifying middle managerial roles, managerial possibilities involving the growing popularity of open systems through electronic brainstorming, and an adaptation and development of Diffusion Theory and attempt to counter criticism leveled at the theory's inability to provide an adequate explanation for diffusion of complex organizational technology. This paper develops three ideas: 1) Introducing the 'Chasing Curve' as a theoretical background. 2) Suggesting a new methodology using electronic brainstorming for analyzing the gap between Knowing (the perceived importance of middle managers' roles) and Doing (the degree of current status of middle managers' roles), which we term the 'Spiral Gap Analysis Model'. 3) Identifying a feedback system for minimizing the Knowing - Doing gap, aimed at development of IT strategic priority decision support, which we call this the 'Star Process'.

  • Background: Workers' oral health problems result in work disruption, including absenteeism or early leave, which reduces work efficiency. This study was conducted to investigate the subjective oral health status and oral problems of workers, and to identify the factors disrupting workflow due to oral problems. Methods: A self-report questionnaire was administered to 300 industrial workers in a metropolitan area. A total of 284 individuals were finally analyzed, after excluding the data of 16 workers who had missing responses among the recovered questionnaires. Results: Subjective oral health status was average in 44.4%, healthy in 32.0%, and unhealthy in 16.9% of the study population. Subjective oral health problems were the highest in the order of food impaction(28.9%), cavity(26.8%), tooth sensitivity (22.9%), and calculus(21.1%). However, sudden and unexplained tooth pain (12.0%), gum swelling and tooth mobility (10.2%), and wisdom tooth pain (4.9%) were relatively low. The average monthly income (p<.05) and subjective oral health status (p<.01) were statistically significant factors interrupting workflow. Conclusion: To minimize workers' oral health problems and work disruption due to oral diseases, it is necessary to promote workers' oral health and oral disease prevention programs within the workplace.

The results are as follows. 130 proverbs related to weather were collected through the investigation of the suggested references. Most of weather proverbs are based on the states of sky, clouds, wind, precipitation, actions of animal, states of plants and the condition of people in daily life. they were classified according to weather types, natural phenomena and seasons. According to the results of analysing the students' recognition and interests on weather proverbs, most of students heard weather proverbs in their elementary school years firstly through their parents, books, and teachers. However they have only heard a few. Also many students also tend to think weather proverbs have a scientific base because weather proverbs have been told by many people through the ancient time and correspond to their personal experiences. Students responded that weather proverbs are useful for science learning on weather and can teach heritage and wisdom. After reading the suggested weather proverbs, their interests on weather proverbs were increased more than before reading. This is one of reasons why weather proverbs can be introduced to science classes. Weather proverbs were considered related to science curriculum. The third grade has a Unit "Fine days and Cloudy days", the fifth grade, "Unit of Weather Change", the Sixth grade, "Unit of Weather Forecast" , the Ninth grade, "Unit of Water cycle and Weather Change" and the tenth grade has "Unit of Earth". • In the orient, ancestor's perception to natural environment was related on the change of climate. Man had been a essence of the warm blood animal, which had suited in mild climate for living and acting. The weather of hot or cold was not only comfort in human life but influences negatively on human behavior. The most people of oriental was particularly interrelated to seasonal change of climate in earlier time. Because, there are elements such as temperature, humidity and wind in the category of climate, these elements differentiated seasonal change. The main methods of perception of natural environment were observed and classified. Although these methods were in the primitive stage, these coincided the tendency of modern science. For example, confucian was recognized the law of vertical air current that warm air rised and cold air sinked. And they could classify all elements nature based on the principles of 'Yin and Yang(陰陽論)' such as male and female, the sun and moon. shade and light etc. Thus results of the observation and the classification concerned with physical environment can be utilize a wisdom for progressive life of inhabitants. It was a origin of the education in natural environment. Commonness in the viewpoint of environment in the orient if recognized the law of circulation. Buddhism, originated in india, realized that all of phenomena in the world was changed slowly through the principles of cycle(輪廻說) such as male and female, the sun and moon, shade and light etc. Thus results of the observation and the classification concerned with physical environment can be utilized a wisdom for progressive life of inhabitants. It was a origin of the education in natural environment. Commonness in the viewpoint of environment in the orient if recognized the law of circulation. Buddhism, originated in India, realized that all of phenomena in the world was changed slowly through the principles of cycle(輪廻說). For example, whole of land is shifted from young stage to old stage as the life cycle of humanbeing. The theory of karma effects(葉報設) is so signify with the good result that good one's action is reap a sweet fruit. The most environmental problem in today must realized as a consequence of men's act. Then Taoism emphasized the pure nature without the artificiality. Because complexual environment was composed of several elements, It was maintained through the artificiality. Because complexual environment was composed of several elements, It was maintained through the interaction of cause and effects. The solution of environmental problem is maintenanced the harmony between cause and effects by a philosophical concept.

  • Fusion is an abnormality of tooth development defined as the union of two developing dental germs, resulting in a single large dental structure. This irregular tooth morphology is associated with a high predisposition to dental caries and periodontal diseases. As a result of recurring inflammatory periodontal processes, disorders such as periodontal pocket, pericoronitis, and paradental cysts may develop. A rare mandibular anatomic variation is the retromolar canal, which is very significant for surgical procedures. The fusion of a paramolar and mandibular third molar associated with a paradental cyst co-occurring with the presence of a retromolar canal is rare, and the aim of the present study is to describe the evaluation of this anatomical configuration using cone-beam computed tomography.
