  • Wireless communication offers the flexibility to the node movement at the spatial dimension more than the wire communication not only in IP architecture but also in Content-Centric Networking. Although it gives such advantage, the intra-domain movement of a node especially the data source node affects the communication to the access point node which in the end affects the acceptance ratio of the client node that requests the data packets from the data source node. In this paper, we use time-division access method to maintain the acceptance ratio of the client node as the effect of the intra-domain data source node movement in Content-Centric Networking. The simulation result shows that the acceptance ratio of the client node can be maintained using the time-division access method as long as the interval access time is less than the coherence time.

  • With the fast growing data traffic, the performance of the convergent overlay network environment under the cognitive networking environment is crucial for the implementation of the efficient network structure. In order to achieve high capacity and reliable link quality in wireless communication of the overlay convergent networks with the cognitive networking based on the advanced capability of the mobile terminal, a Distributed Wireless Communication System (DWCS) can provide the capability of ambient-aware dual cell system's operation. This paper has considered virtual cell: the Dual Virtual Cell (DVC), and also proposes DVC employment strategy based on DWCS network. One is the Active Virtual Cell which exists for user's actual data traffic and the other is the Candidate Virtual Cell which contains a set of candidate antennas to protect user's link quality from performance degradation or interruption. The considered system constructs DVC by using cognitive ability of finding useful virtual signals. Also, for multi-user high-rate data transmission, the DWCS system exploits Space-Time Trellis Codes. The effects of changing environments on the system performance has been investigated thereafter.

  • One of current trends of medical technology is analog to digital. Moreover, The Government put a premium on PACS(Picture Archiving and Communication System) for Medical Insurance in November, 1999. Therefore many hospitals are installing(or planning to install) PACS facilities on their buildings. However most of hospitals didn't consider PACS facilities in the beginning of construction. In particular, the Networking is one of the most difficult things for PACS installation. There is no space for network equipments, and no path for network lines, etc. To solve these problems, wireless network is proposed. The wireless network is divided to three parts mainly. One is the wireless communication for Local Area Network, another is the data transmission through a satellite for Tele-Radiology, and the last one is the technology using Bluetooth for each sub-system of PACS. But there are other problems in wireless systems, i.e., network bandwidth, system stability, interference with other devices. The purpose of this paper is to suggest the future and new trend of PACS including all the problems.

  • A wireless sensor network is composed of many resource constrained sensor nodes. These networks are attacked by malicious attacks like DDoS and routing attacks. In this paper, we propose the intrusion detection and prevention system using convergence of software-defined networking and security technology in wireless sensor networks. Our proposed scheme detects various intrusions in a central server by accumulating log messages of OpenFlow switch through SDN controller and prevents the intrusions by configuring OpenFlow switch. In order to validate our proposed scheme, we show it can detect and prevent some malicious attacks in wireless sensor networks.

  • In this paper, we proposed and demonstrated an indoor visible-light communication system using an array of light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The main idea is based on that the LEDs can be used not only for lighting but also for free-space optical communications. Because LEDs offer advantageous properties such as high brightness, reliability, lower power consumption and long lifetime, the indoor visible-light communication systems are going to provide high quality of service by the high radiation power of the LED lighting. Prototype of simplex channel for audio and the full-duplex channel for text message were developed. Results indicates the viability of creating inexpensive free-space optical communication transceivers that might be embedded in commercial light products to supports indoor wireless networking.

  • This paper applies a prelaunch forecasting model to the Home-Networking (HN) market of South Korea. The HN market of Korea is categorized into two distinctive markets. One HN market consists of new apartments in which builders install HN and the other HN market consists of existing houses in which residents purchase HN Among these markets, this paper focuses on existing houses as capturing consumers' choice. To forecast sales of HN for existing houses, we use a conjoint model based on our survey data of consumer preferences. By incorporating various indicators of HN technologies into our conjoint model, we also forecast diffusion of HN system embodied in PLC or Wireless Lan. We call this model Choice-Based Diffusion Model. In addition, based on the simulation experiments, we also identify important factors that affect the demands of HN system.

Due to recent technological advances in sensor, low power microelectronics and miniaturization, and wireless networking enable the design and proliferation of this wireless sensor networks capable of autonomously monitoring and controlling environments. Thus, this research presents the utilization of such microelectronic sensor and plots the hardware and software architecture of a wireless sensor network system with real-time pupil monitoring that integrates vital sign sensors, location sensor and allergen sensor. This proposed architecture for wearable sensors can be used as active tags which can track pupil's location within the school's premises, identify possible atopic dermatitis with asthma allergens, it would monitor and generate a health status report of the pupil.

  • There are lots of studies on application systems using wireless sensor networks. As the application systems are adapted to industrial field, the reliability of these systems becomes new key feature. The lack of reliability is an obstacle to extension of wireless sensor networks. In this paper, we propose the monitoring system framework that can offer the reliability of wireless sensor networks using a micro camera module and wireless sensor network nodes. And also we propose the efficient transfer method for image information over low rate wireless networks. Using these system framework and transfer method, we implement WiSN(Wireless image Sensor Network) based fire monitoring system.

  • Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems with multiple transmit antennas can exploit space-time block coding on each subchannel for reliable data transmission. Spacetime coded OFDM systems, however, are very sensitive to time variant channels because the channels need to be static over multiple OFDM symbol periods. In this paper, we propose to mitigate the channel variations in the frequency domain using a linear filter in the frequency domain that exploits the sparse structure of the system matrix in the frequency domain. Our approach has reduced complexity compared with alternative approaches based on time domain block-linear filters. Simulation results demonstrate that our proposed frequency domain block-linear filter reduces computational complexity by more than a factor of ten at the cost of small performance degradation, compared with a time domain block-linear filter.
