  • In this work, the multiple dynamic absorber( MDA ) is introduced to reduce several vibration modes of shadow mask simultaneously and its design method is developed from the theory of the simple dynamic absorber. When designing the dynamic absorber, there are three significant design parameters such as mass, damping ratio and tuning frequency. Therefore the sensitivity analysis for those parameters has been executed in order to find out the design criteria of multiple dynamic absorber using the finite element model of shadow mask. The multiple dynamic absorber(MDA) designed by the proposed method is tested theoretically and experimentally to estimate the efficiency of vibration reduction. From the results, it is verified that the method is feasible to apply the system having the multiple nitration modes and more efficient than the thin wire-type damper used commercially to reduce the vibration of shadow mask.

  • The Second-generation high-temperature superconducting (HTS) Rare-Earth Barium Copper Oxide (REBCO) wire is a composite laminate having a multi-layer structure (8 or more layers). HTS wires will undergo multiple loads including the bending-tension loads during winding, high current density, and high magnetic fields. In particular, the wires are subjected to bending stress and magnetic field stress because HTS wires are wound around a circular bobbin when making a high-field magnetic. Each of the different laminated wires inevitably exhibits damage and fracture behavior of wire due to stress deformation, mismatches in thermal, physical, electrical, and magnetic properties. Therefore, when manufacturing high-field magnets and other applications, it is necessary to calculate the stress-strain experienced by high-temperature superconducting wire to present stable operating conditions in the product's use environment. In this study, the finite element model (FEM) was used to simulate the strain-stress characteristics of the HTS wire under high current density and magnetic field, and bending loads. In addition, the result of obtaining the neutral axis of the wire and the simulation result was compared with the theoretical calculation value and reviewed. As a result of the simulation using COMSOL Multiphysics, when a current of 100 A was applied to the wire, the current value showed the difference of 10-9. The stress received by the wire was 501.9 MPa, which showed a theoretically calculated value of 500 MPa and difference of 0.38% between simulation and theoretical method. In addition, the displacement resulted is 30.0012 ㎛, which is very similar to the theoretically calculated value of 30 ㎛. Later, the amount of bending stress by the circular mandrel was received for each layer and the difference with the theoretically obtained the neutral axis result was compared and reviewed. This result will be used as basic data for manufacturing high-field magnets because it can be expanded and analyzed even in the case of wire with magnetic flux pinning.

  • Strengthening existing structure using the exterior steel wire is utilized because of their high adaptability and strengthening efficiency. In the practical aspect, the fixing methods, which are generally adopted have caused problems. A new method is not easily designed because of the weak points, a limit of tension stress, and complex transmit processes. To make up for the weak points in the current fixing method, tensile end bracket similar to a supporting plate has been developed, but the tensile end bracket was relatively big because of increasing length welded between the end plate and the resisting plate.

  • The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the safety under extreme environmental conditions and the dynamic safety under service environment conditions, of oceanographic buoy mooring systems consisting of a variety of materials, including chain, wire rope, nylon rope, and polypropylene rope. For the static safety assessment of a mooring system, after the calculation of external forces and the division of a mooring system into finite elements, the numerical integral was conducted to yield the elemental static tension until satisfying the geometrical convergence condition. To evaluate the dynamic safety, various processes were considered, including data collection about the anticipated areas for mooring, a determination of the parameters for the interpretation, the interpretation of the dynamic characteristics based on an analytic equation that takes into account the heave motion effect of a buoy hull and a mooring system, and a fatigue analysis of the linear cumulative damage. Based on the analysis results, a supplementary proposal for a wire rope that has a fracture in an actual mooring area was established.

  • When a snowplow is operating in the up or down direction, the sensor stops the movement automatically and the wire could be broken from an endless drive in the reverse direction impact or conversely winding wire. In the present study, a new bobbin was designed to ensure the durability of snowplows; in this design, the bobbin plays the role of a clutch during power transfer or idling. This will protect the blade of the snowplow during an impact and maintain close contact of the blade with the road. Therefore, the new technology to eliminate the tension and fatigue of the wire is suggested by winding a chain instead of the wire in the newly designed bobbin. From these, it was developed to extend the life of the snowplow without causing damages to the vehicle.

  • Analyzing dynamic performance between pantograph and contact wire depends on mechanical and electrical conditions such as contact force, currents, aerodynamics of pantograph and tension of overhead contact wire. For the characteristic of dynamic performance between pantograph and overhead contact wire, various evaluation systems are used to measuring of the interaction of the contact line and the pantograph. Among the various methods, the contact force and percentage of arcing are intended to prove the safety and the quality of the current collection system on the train. However, these methods are only capable of measuring on the train which are installed measurement systems. Therefore in this paper, a track-side monitoring system was implemented to measure electrical characteristics from active overhead contact wire systems in order to constantly estimate current collection performance of railway operation. In addition, a method to analyze loss of contact phenomena was proposed. According to simulation results, the proposed system was capable of measuring abnormal electrical behavior of pantograph and contact wires on the track-side. The advantage of the proposed system is possible to detect loss of contact or any other electrical abnormalities of all types of trains within sections from sub to sub without the need to install any on-board equipment on trains.

  • An ultra-high pressure treatment device is a device used for increasing the shelf life of food by sterilizing it by applying hydrostatic pressure to solid or liquid food. The ultrahigh pressure treatment system developed in this study is a pressure vessel with a processing capacity of 100 L and a maximum pressure of 700 MPa. Pressure vessels for ultrahigh-pressure processing equipment are manufactured using wire-winding techniques. The design formula for making ultra-high pressure vessels with wire windings is given in ASME Section VIII - Division 3. In this study, the ratio of the cylinder to the winding area that can be applied in a wire-winding application was analyzed using a finite element analysis. Furthermore, the relationship between the variation of the residual stress in the vessel and the ratio of the winding area due to the variation of the winding tension was analyzed, and a design guide applicable to the actual product design was developed. Finally, the design equation was modified by presenting the coefficients to correct the difference between the finite element analysis and the design equation.
