Drawing is a basic plastic deformation method and productive manufacturing process make wire. rod and variety section geometry bar. Study for the rod drawing process of rod was researched long littles. but non-axisymmetric drawing process is weak. So metal flow is very irregular in non-axisymmetric drawing process and difficult to define about material deformation generally. In this paper, to solve material deformation, use finite element method and then define suitable shape for rod to hexagonal drawing dies. And research corner filling rate and surface roughness for the high strength steel hexagonal bar produced defined dies.

This study examined the cause of the wrinkle defect which is frequently encountered in wire rod rolling of low carbon steel$(C0.08\~0.13wt.\%)$. Even a small defect on the surface of rolled bars can easily develop into fatal cracks during cold heading process of low carbon steel, and it is therefore necessary to minimize inherent defects on the surface of hot rolled bars. Hot rolling process of low carbon steel was analyzed to identify the cause of the wrinkle defect in conjunction with FE analysis. The integrated analysis revealed that the wrinkle defect initiated in the first stage of rolling, and it was at the billet edge where severe deformation and drastic temperature drop were present. To elucidate the micro-mechanical mechanism of the wrinkle defect, hot compression tests were carried out at various temperatures and strain rates using Gleeble-3800. The surface profile of the each other compressed specimens was compared, and rough surface lines were observed at relatively low temperatures. Those surface defects can develop into wrinkles during multi-pass rolling. To control the wrinkle defect in rolling, it is necessary to design an adequate caliber which can minimize the loss of ductility, and thereby prevent flow localization. To use the result of this study fur other steels, the quantitative measure of the wrinkle defect and flow localization parameter should be proposed.
In order to develop a new rockfall protection fence using high carbon steel wire rod (HSWR) material instead of the conventional wire rope material, the author has conducted the laboratory strength tests of both materials and their connections, and carried out evaluation of absorbing rockfall energy through the vertical field rockfall tests. The vertical filed rockfall tests showed that the new rockfall protection fence with 12 rows of the HSWR could absorb more rockfall energy than 50 kJ which stands for the typical design criteria. In addition, when the quantity of HSWR was increased up to the 16 rows, the capacity of absorbing energy was greatly improved. The new rockfall protection fence was successfully applied to the highway rock-cut slope. As a result of the filed application, its constructability was similar to the conventional fence, but its total image was improved as simple and clean. The total construction cost was saved up to 20% in comparison with the conventional one.
Zinc oxide(ZnO) micro/nanocrystals are grown via thermal evaporation of ZnO powder mixed with Mn powder, which is used as a reducing agent. The ZnO/Mn powder mixture produces ZnO micro/nanocrystals with diverse morphologies such as rods, wires, belts, and spherical shapes. Rod-shaped ZnO micro/nanocrystals, which have an average diameter of 360 nm and an average length of about $12{\mu}m$, are fabricated at a temperature as low as $800^{\circ}C$ due to the reducibility of Mn. Wire-and belt-like ZnO micro/nanocrystals with length of $3{\mu}m$ are formed at $900^{\circ}C$ and $1,000^{\circ}C$. When the growth temperature is $1,100^{\circ}C$, spherical shaped ZnO crystals having a diameter of 150 nm are synthesized. X-ray diffraction patterns reveal that ZnO had hexagonal wurtzite crystal structure. A strong ultraviolet emission peak and a weak visible emission band are observed in the cathodoluminescence spectra of the rod- and wire-shaped ZnO crystals, while visible emission is detected for the spherical shaped ZnO crystals.
The current study deals with the effect of cooling rate and temperature for annealing on medium-carbon Cr-Mo alloy steel, especially for cold heading quality wire rod, to derive the optimum micro-structures for plastic deformation. This is to optimize the spheroidization heat treatment conditions for softening the material. Heat treatment was performed under seven different conditions at a temperature between Ac1 and Ac3, mostly within 720℃ to 760℃, and the main variables at this time were temperature, retention time and cooling rate. Microstructure and phase changes were observed for each test condition, and it was confirmed that they were greatly affected by the cooling rate. It was also confirmed that the cooling rate was changed in the range of 0.1℃/min to 5℃/min and affected by phase deformation and spheroidization fraction. The larger the spheroidization fraction, the lower the hardness, which is associated with the increasing connection of ferrite phases.
A commercial AA1070 alloy for electrical wire is severely deformed by drawing process in which a rod with an initial diameter of 9mm into is reduced to a wire of 2mm diameter. The drawn AA1070 wire is then annealed at various temperatures from 200 to 450 ℃ for 2h. Changes in microstructure, mechanical properties and electrical properties of the specimens with annealing temperature are investigated in detail. The specimen begins partially to recrystallize at 250 ℃; above 300 ℃ it is covered with equiaxed recrystallized grains over all regions. Fiber textures of {110}<111> and {112}<111> components are mainly developed, and {110}<001> texture is partially developed as well. The tensile strength tends to decrease with annealing temperature due to the occurrence of recovery or/and recrystallization. On the other hand, the elongation of the annealed wire increases with the annealing temperature, and reaches a maximum value of 33.3 % at 300 ℃. Electric conductivity of the specimens increases with annealing temperature, and reaches a maximum value of 62.6 %IACS after annealing at 450 ℃. These results are discussed in comparison with those for the other aluminum alloy.

The synthesis of SiC used for the parts of the gas turbine and the heat exchanger, was carried out. In this study, wire cutting slurry of silicon wafer and the graphite rod of spent zinc-carbon battery were applied to the starting materials for the synthesis. The powders of Si or Si+SiC were obtained from the waste material by filtration, gravity separation and magnetic separation. Graphite powder was produced by dismantling, grinding and gravity separation from spent zinc-carbon battery. The synthesis of SiC could be completed from the mixture powders of Si and C or Si+SiC and C at the condition of equivalent ratio of Si and C, atmosphere of Ar or vacuum, temperature of above 1$600^{\circ}C$ and 2 hours reactions. The purity of synthesized Si-C was above 99%.
Gas-cooled space reactor, which adopts He-Xe gas mixture as working fluid, is a better choice for megawatt power generation. In this paper, thermal-hydraulic characteristics of He-Xe gas mixture in 2×2 rod bundle wrapped with helical wires is numerically investigated. The velocity, pressure and temperature distribution of the coolant are obtained and analyzed. The results show that the existence of helical wires forms the vortexes and changes the velocity and temperature distribution. Hot spots are found at the contact corners between helical wires and fuel rods. The highest temperature of the hot spots reach 1600K, while the mainstream temperature is less than 400K. The helical wire structure increases the friction pressure drop by 20%-50%. The effect extent varies with the pitch and the number of helical wires. The helical wire structure leads to the reduction of Nusselt number. Comparing thermal-hydraulic performance ratios (THPR) of different structures, the THPR values are all less than 1. It means that gas-cooled space reactor adopting helical wires could not strengthen the core heat removal performance. This work provides the thermal-hydraulic design basis for He-Xe gas cooled space nuclear reactor.
In this study, an Al-0.7wt%Fe-0.2wt%Mg-0.2wt%Cu-0.02wt%B alloy was designed to fabricate an aluminum alloy for electrical wire having both high strength and high conductivity. The designed Al alloy was processed by casting, extrusion and drawing processes. Especially, the drawing process was done by severe deformation of a rod with an initial diameter of 12 mm into a wire of 2 mm diameter; process was equivalent to an effective strain of 3.58, and the total reduction in area was 97 %. The drawn Al alloy wire was then annealed at various temperatures of 200 to $400^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. The mechanical properties, microstructural changes and electrical properties of the annealed specimens were investigated. As the annealing temperature increased, the tensile strength decreased and the elongation increased. Recovery or/and recrystallization occurred as annealing temperature increased, and complete recrystallization occurred at annealing temperatures over $300^{\circ}C$. Electric conductivity increased with increasing temperature up to $250^{\circ}C$, but no significant change was observed above $300^{\circ}C$. It is concluded that, from the viewpoint of the mechanical and electrical properties, the specimen annealed at $350^{\circ}C$ is the most suitable for the wire drawn Al alloy electrical wire.
