The purposes of this study were to classify the silver farming types and to investigate proper crops for silver farmers. Data were collected from 408 farmers returned from the urban area. Descriptive statistics were employed using SPSS/PC windows program. After then, researchers discussed the silver farming patterns and their proper crops, and tried to analyze the silver farming model. Major results were as follows: The farming aims of retirees, urban residents as well as farmers returned from the urban area were various from hobby/ leisure to income generating activities. Fourteen types of silver farming were classified by farming aim and residential area of retirees. Retirees in the hobby/leisure-oriented silver farming type can select and enjoy the various plants, animals, and insects as well as crops due to their small scale. Silver farmers in the self-sufficiency type may select crops for their food. Income-oriented silver farmers may have difficulties in choosing the proper crop. They must consider their income needs, health status and field location. Profit-oriented silver farmers with venture mind can have some business opportunities in the agricultural sectors in spite of severe competition. As the aged silver farmers have poor health, they must keep work safety rules, use the proper work-aids, and utilize the labor-saving farming system.
The present study deals with developing a new modem design of quilt which is characteristic of Korean traditional patterns. The goal of this study is to make some samples of the pattern as a basic motive of quilt work by using some Korean traditional patterns that could be found in roof tiles, windows, Neung-Hwa (a kind of wood cut for printing book covers), and others. This study examines the concept of quilts, their historical background, and their characteristics. This study also examines traditional patterns that are applicable to the patchy work of quilt, discussing the characteristic of both the Korean patterns and Nubi (Korean traditional quilt). In the process of pattern development, the original patterns were simplified and transformed to apply them to the modem quilt pattern. Fabrics (100% cotton) of similar colors were used to emphasize quilting lines. This study has found followings; 1) The geometric pattern usually consists of dots, lines, and faces. These patterns are suitable for pieced quilts. 2) The curvilinear pattern found in roof tiles or Yi-Dynasty coins, can be easily re-expressed by the applique technique. Combinations of fabrics and motive compositions can express quilts in realistic and creative ways. 3) Addition of Korean traditional quilt techniques, such as parallel lines or swastika stitches, to the traditional object-derived quilt patterns led to the creation of images close to the already existing Korean quilt, Nubi.

Supercapacitors with higher energy and power density are attracting growing attention for their wide range of potential applications such as portable electronic equipments, hybrid vehicle and cellular devices. In various classes of materials for supercapacitors, the redox pseudocapacitive materials such as conducting polymers and metal oxides have been most widely studied recently. The nanostructuring of the electrode surface has also been focused on since it can provide large surface area and consequently easy diffusion of ions in the capacitors. Among the active materials, in this work, we have used polyaniline (PANi) and manganese oxide ($MnO_2$). PANi is one of the promising electrode and active materials due to its desirable properties such as high electrochemical activity, high doping level and stability. $MnO_2$ is also widely studied material for supercapacitors since it is relatively cheap and environmentally friendly. In this work, we fabricated PANi hollow nanospheres by polymerizing aniline monomers on the polystyrene (PS) nanospheres and then dissolving the inner PS spheres. This nanostructuring of the PANi surface can provide large surface area and hence easy diffusion of electrolyte ions. We also incorporated $MnO_2$ nanoparticles into the PANi hollow nanospheres and investigated its electrochemical properties. It is expected that the combination of these two active materials with slightly different working potential windows show synergetic effects such as broader working potential range and enhanced specific capacitance.

The modular construction means that more than 70% of the parts such as walls, windows, electrical wiring, facility piping, bathrooms, and kitchen appliances are pre-assembled at the factory and transported to the site. It is possible to shorten the construction period than general construction work and to secure high quality through modular mass production since the modular construction works in the field at the same time as the modular production. However, there are only four domestic modular manufacturers, and each company's modular components and construction methods are different, so it is necessary to standardize them. Therefore, this study investigated the construction process centering on the stacking method of modular housing construction work applied to D site in Cheonan-si, and proposed the key points of quality management by construction stage. As the project was conducted as a pilot project for government R&D projects, some differences may occur from general modular housing construction. However, the construction process and quality control focus of each unit box type modular house analyzed in this study can be used as basic data in the future of modular housing construction. In addition, the results of this study can be used to establish construction standards, such as the development of checklists and establishment of standard processes.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to propose and test a predictive model that could explain and predict nursing productivity. Methods: A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted with 360 nurses in Korea. The data were analyzed using SPSS Windows 18.0 and AMOS 19.0 program. Results: Based on the constructed model, burnout and organizational commitment were found to have direct effects on nurses' turnover intention and nursing productivity. While nursing work environment was found to have indirect effects on nurses' turnover intention and nursing productivity. Conclusion: This structural equational model is a comprehensive theoretical model that explains the related factors and their relationship with nursing productivity. Comprehensive organizational interventions to improve nursing productivity should focus on improving the nursing work environment. Findings from this study can be used to design appropriate strategies to decrease nurse turnover in Korea. Further studies are needed to prospectively verify these causal relationships with larger samples.

The shoes process management monitoring system for supporting SCM is developed in this study. This system consists of a monitoring program, a conveyer system, a pneumatic unit, a controller, an USB camera, and a server and a client computer. To operate the developed system easily, the monitoring program using LabVIEW in the Windows environment is developed. This program consists of 5 modules: production management, inventory control, media management, defective management, and communication management. The developed system has several advantages: reduced time for managing process work, decreased labor costs, effective operation, and continuous work without an operator. Nowadays advanced manufacturing companies are trying to find a way to check the performance of their production equipments and plants from remote sites. Thus, to manage the developed system from remote sites, communication network is constructed. In order to evaluate the performance of the monitoring system, experiments were performed. The experimental results showed that the developed system provided a reliable performance and a stable communication.
In a recent tragic fire incident, the Plasco Tower collapsed after an intense outburst of fire lasting for three and a half hours and claiming the lives of 16 firefighters and 6 civilians. This paper will present continuing collaborative work between Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Queen's University in Canada to model the progressive collapse of the tower. The fire started at the 10th floor and was observed to have travelled along the floor horizontally and through the staircase and windows vertically. Plasco Tower was steel structure and all the steel sections were fabricated by welding standard European channel or angle profiles and no fire protection was applied. Four internal columns carried the loads transferred by the primary beams, and box columns were constructed along the perimeter of the building as a braced tube for resisting seismic loading. OpenSees fibre-based sections and displacement-based beam-column elements are used to model the frames, while shell elements are used for the reinforced concrete floor slabs. The thermal properties and elevated temperature mechanical properties are as recommended in the Eurocodes. The results in this preliminarily analysis are based on rough estimations of the structure's configuration. The ongoing work looks at modeling the Plasco Tower based on the most accurate findings from reviewing many photographs and collected data.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the influence of spirituality and job satisfaction on the compassion competence of hospice nurses. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 118 hospice nurses from 16 hospitals in Daejeon, Chungcheong Province, and Jeolla Province. A self-administered survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire including the Spirituality Scale, Index of Work Satisfaction, the Compassion Competence Scale for Nurses, and general socio-demographic information. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical linear regression analysis using SPSS for Windows version 26.0. Results: Compassion competence was correlated with spirituality (r=0.66, P<0.001) and job satisfaction (r=0.52, P<0.001), and spirituality was correlated with job satisfaction (r=0.44, P<0.001). Spirituality (β=0.513, P<0.001) and job satisfaction (β=0.273, P<0.001) were significant factors affecting the compassion competence of hospice nurses, after adjusting for the sociodemographic and work-related covariates. The step-by-step results from hierarchical linear regression analysis also indicated that spirituality had a stronger impact than job satisfaction on compassion competence. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate the importance of spirituality, which plays a role in guiding the compassion competence of hospice nurses. It is necessary to support the spirituality and job satisfaction of hospice nurses, which could facilitate their compassion competence and thereby contribute to improving the quality of hospice and palliative care.
Exposure to Diesel Particulate Matter (DPM) potentially causes adverse health effects (e.g. respiratory symptoms, lung cancer). Due to a lack of data on Elemental Carbon (EC) exposure levels in underground copper ore mining (unlike other underground mining industries such as non-metallic and coal mining), this case study aims to provide individual miners' EC exposure levels, and information on their work practices including use of personal protective equipment. EC measurement was carried out during different work activities (i.e. drilling, driving a loader, plant fitting, plant operation, driving a Specialized Mining Vehicle (SMV)) as per NIOSH Method 5040. The copper miners were working 10 h/day and 5 days/week. This study found that the most significant exposures to EC were reported from driving a loader (range $0.02-0.42mg/m^3$). Even though there were control systems (i.e. water tanks and DPM filters) on the diesel vehicles, around 49.5% of the results were over the adjusted recommendable exposure limit ($0.078mg/m^3$). This was probably due to: (1) driver's frequently getting in and out of the diesel vehicles and opening the windows of the diesel vehicles, and (2) inappropriate maintenance of the diesel vehicles and the DPM control systems. The use of the P2 type respirator provided was less than 19.2%. However, there was no significant difference between the day shift results and the night shift results. In order to prevent or minimize exposure to EC in the copper ore mine, it is recommended that the miners are educated in the need to wear the appropriate respirator provided during their work shifts, and to maintain the diesel engine and emission control systems on a regular basis. Consideration should be given to a specific examination of the diesel vehicles' air-conditioning filters and the air ventilation system to control excessive airborne contaminants in the underground copper mine.
The effective administration of hospital with innovation and human resource practices is a matter of grave concern because hospitals are becoming bigger and more specialized. Biomedical engineers who manage medical machineries and tools used to deliver healthcare services in a hospital setting play an important role in providing customers good quality services. Maintaining job satisfaction of biomedical engineers is, thus, important in the delivery of quality care. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study aiming to determine factors affecting job satisfaction of biomedical engineers working in general hospitals. The study population consisted of biomedical engineers at 79 general hospitals of 26 regions based on the registry of the Korea Medical Engineering Association (KMEA). The data were collected using a self-administerd questionnaire between May and July of 2009. Job satisfaction was assessed with 19 items covering 3 dimensions of work-external, work-internal, and organizational aspects (Cronbach's ${\alpha}=0.884$), resulting in an average summary score. Statistical analysis was conducted with SPSS for Windows version 15.0. The mean score of job satisfaction was 3.50 (${\pm}0.04$). There were statistically significant differences in job satisfaction according to age, health status, job position, duration of work as a biomedical engineer, years in the current workplace, difficulty at work, intent to change job, and the amount of support from superiors and colleagues. In multiple regression analysis, the factors affecting job satisfaction of biomedical engineers were salary, health status, and support of superiors and colleagues ($r^2=0.512$). Effective motivation-plans, taking into account organizational characteristics and the working environment of the hospital, may help to improve the job satisfaction of biomedical engineers.
