ShareIt: An Application Sharing System using Window Capturing and Multicast under Heterogeneous Window Systems

  • Application sharing is the ability to use existing applications, such as Excel or MS-Word, during a group session without modification. In this paper, we present the design and implementation of an application sharing system, called ShareIt, which enable users to share arbitrary MS-Windows applications under the Win 3.1/95/NT and X window system, and evaluation of the system performance. To share an application, the image of the application window is captured and transmitted to other sites. With the use of the window capturing method, ShareIt allows any MS-Windows application to be shared regardless of not only the window systems but also the version-up of window systems.

  • This paper suggested a web based error manager for societal security service. This is a system that is suitable for detecting, sharing and recovering software error based on multimedia CSCW(Computer Supportes Cooperated Work). With error sharing system, a group cooperating users can share error applications. Our a web based error manager for societal security service enables user to share error objects through interaction awareness. This method has a file sharing, a window copy, a window overlay, or a window sharing. We implemented the web based error manager for societal security service so that the users participated in collaborative work may refer shared error objects as the same view to others.

  • The current network environment is composed of heterogeneous H/W and S/W resources. Integrating CSCW applications in such heterogeneous environments is highly complex. This paper describes the design and implementation of ASS (application sharing server) which supprot sharing of a single application between different operating systems. The ASS supports cooperative work among user group using its own window system (X-windwo or MS-windwos). We adopted improved managing heavy-weight data. ASS also provides development environment for vaious groupware application.

  • Networks often evolve to provide a host with multiple access points to the Internet. In this paper, we propose a transport layer load distribution mechanism utilizing the multiple network interfaces simultaneously. We specifically propose an extension of Stream Control Transmission Protoco1 (SCTP) to have load sharing over multiple network interfaces. We named the particular service provided by the Proposed load sharing mechanism to be LS (Load Sharing) mode service. LS mode service is based on the following four key elements: (i) the separation of flow control and congestion control, (ii) congestion window based striping, (iii) redundant packet retransmission for fast packet loss recovery, (iv) a novel mechanism to keep track of the receiver window size with the SACKS even if they arrive out-of-order. Through simulations, it is shown that the proposed LS mode service can aggregate the bandwidth of multiple paths almost ideally despite of the disparity in their bandwidth. When a path with a delay of 100% greater is utilized as the second path, the throughput is enhanced about 20%.

  • Internet becomes very common tool for communication and data sharing. Virtual reality(VR) on web browser, and virtual prototyping and virtual manufacturing is widely used in many engineering folds. The reduction of overall development process and error minimization during data conversion becomes very crucial where sharing data via Internet and VR. This paper deals with the advantage and disadvantage of VRML format used in RP(Rapid Prototyping), and a software for RP data preparation is developed. If VRML format as an international standard for VR, is replaced with STL format, the weak points of STL format can be overcome and the technique related to virtual prototyping and virtual manufacturing can be addressed more systematically by sharing the data. The system developed in this work shows a good window to get access to a more realistic observation of an object fur an RP system from a long remote sites in a more systematic way.

  • In recent years, progress in hardware technology has resulted in the possibility of monitoring many events in real time. The volume of incoming data may be so large, that monitoring all individual data might be intractable. Revisiting any particular record can also be impossible in this environment. Therefore, many database schemes, such as aggregation, join, frequent pattern mining, and indexing, become more challenging in this context. This paper surveys the previous efforts to resolve these issues in processing data streams. The emphasis is on specifying and processing sliding window queries, which are supported in many stream processing engines. We also review the related work on stream query processing, including synopsis structures, plan sharing, operator scheduling, load shedding, and disorder control.

  • In this paper, we propose a window-based congestion control algorithm to achieve a fair sharing of the available bandwidth in ECN capable heterogeneous TCP networks with a single bottleneck link. The proposed algorithm is based on extracting the network status from the successive binary congestion information provided by ECN. From the explicit network information, we estimate the fair window size proportional to the propagation delay. Through simulations, the effect and performance of the proposed algorithm are shown for the heterogeneous networks.

  • This paper proposes simple and effective Contention Window (CW) adjusting algorithm to solve the fairness problem of the IEEE 802.11 under the Distributed Coordination Function (DCF). This adjusting algorithm can support variable packet length as well as both RTS/CTS access method and hidden nodes. Simulation results show that fairness problem can be very severe in the original MAC protocol of the wireless network. In case of implement our algorithm, fair sharing was enlarged prominently and the fairness sharing was improved about maximum 30%.

  • A stream processor uses resource sharing method for efficient of limited resource in multiple continuous queries. The previous methods process aggregate queries to consist the level structure. So insert operation needs to reconstruct cost of the level structure. Also a search operation needs to search cost of aggregation information in each size of sliding windows. Therefore this paper uses linear structure for optimization of sliding window aggregations. The method comprises of making decision, generation and deletion of panes in sequence. The decision phase determines optimum pane size for holding accurate aggregate information. The generation phase stores aggregate information of data per pane from stream buffer. At the deletion phase, panes are deleted that are no longer used. The proposed method uses resources less than the method where level structures were used as data structures as it uses linear data format. The input cost of aggregate information is saved by calculating only pane size of data though numerous stream data is arrived, and the search cost of aggregate information is also saved by linear searching though those sliding window size is different each other. In experiment, the proposed method has low usage of memory and the speed of query processing is increased.
