  • This study was performed to observe the gross reactions of surrounding maxillary sutures to the widening of midpalatal suture in the dog. Three healthy dog were chosen for the experiment. One animal was used as control, and two were used as experimental animals. Midpalatal suture was expanded total 7mm with screw for 10 days. The following results were obtained : 1. Midpalatal suture was expanded with the most width, in which anterior was be more expanded than the posterior, and shape was wedge form. 2. Interincisive suture was definitely expanded. 3. Internasal suture and interfrontal suture were slightly expanded. 4. Expansion of frontomaxillary suture, frontoparietal suture, frontonasal suture, zygomatico temporal suture, zygomatico frontal suture, zygomatico maxillary suture, occipito mastoid suture, occipito parietal suture, naso incisive suture, naso maxillary suture, and incisive maxillary suture were not observed.

  • The aim of this report is to present the treatment of a 14-year-old boy with scissors-bite. Mandibular symphyseal distraction osteogenesis (MSDO) with tooth-supported distractor was performed to expand the mandible, and intermaxillary cross elastics were used. The mandible was expanded approximately 9 mm. Asymmetric widening was done by using cross elastics and MSDO simultaneously. The buccal crossbite was corrected successfully. After a 2-year observation period, widening of the mandible using this procedure was judged to be stable.

  • The author has observed the gross reactions of surrounding maxillary sutures to the widening of midpalatal suture in comparison of young dog with adult dog. Experimental animals used was two young dog and two adult dog with normal palate. After midpalatal suture was seperated with rapid palatal expansion device, experimental animals were sacrificed to observe the surrounding maxillary sutures. The following results were obtained. 1. In adult dog, nasoincisive suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded. 2. In adult dog, pterygopalatine suture was hardly expanded, while in young dog it was expanded definitely. 3. In adult dog, frontomaxillary suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilaterally. 4. In adult dog, palatoethmoidal suture was not expanded, while in young dog it was expanded unilateraily.

  • We presented two cases of unstable fracture of the distal clavicle in children associating superior displacement of the ipsilateral distal clavicle and widening of the coracoclavicular (CC) interval. They obtained good osteosynthesis and reduction of the CC interval by conservative treatment. The primary conservative treatment should be considered for the treatment of the unstable distal clavicular fracture with widening of the CC interval in children.

  • The geometric parameters between wheel and rail change wheel/rail contact geometry characteristics, and this influence dynamic behavior of rolling stock. So, the selections of optimum geometric parameters between wheel and rail is important for planning of railway system. In this study, we have analyzed the influence of geometric parameters like wheel flange-back distance, gage, and rail inclination to the equivalent conicity relating dynamic behavior. The analyses show the following results. The widening of wheel flange-back distance increase the equivalent conicity, the widening of gage, rail inclination 1/20 compared with rail inclination 1/40 decrease the equivalent conicity.

  • In recent studies, many methods have been studied for mobile robot using magnetic markers on its pathway. This is not influenced by the weather conditions, and makes possible to develop controller with low level processors and simple algorithms. However, the interval between magnets is restricted by the magnetic field intensity and it is impossible to get road information ahead. This paper suggests a method of widening markers and expressing the road information ahead using magnetic markers, and explains a sensor arrangement considering suggested methods. Also, magnetic field analysis was done to investigate the effects of widening magnetic markers with various environments. A small mobile robot was made to figure out the performance of suggested methods, and driving experiments were performed on the straight and curved road with magnetic markers. The results show that the robot moved the prearranged pathway with 0.5 cm lateral displacements and stopped at a stop line using magnetic information on the road.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the influence of distance of planting holes (51, 45, and 40 cm) and number of plants per a hole(4, 5, 6 plants) on agronomic characteristics, yield, and quality of an aromatic tobacco, Sohyang. The results are as follows: 1. Relative light intensity increased by widening the distance of holes. 2. Leaf area per a plant or per a leaf, and leaf length and width increased by widening the distance of holes and decreased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. But L. A. 1. increased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. Leaf shape index (Leaf length/Leaf width) showed little differences among treatments. 3. Dry weight of leaf, root, and stem per a plant decreased by increasing the number of plants per a hole. 4. Total nitrogen decreased by increasing number of plants per a hole and in the case of narrow distance of holes, but nicotine, reducing sugar, ether-extract and ash showed little differences. 5. Yield per 10a decreased by widening the distance of holes. 6. Quality(price per kg) was improved by increasing the number of plants per a hole at the Plot of 51m distance of holes. But there was no variation at the Plot of 45cm. And quality was decreased at the plot of 40cm distance of holes by increasing the number of Plants per a hole. 7. Price per 10a was highest in the plot of which plant spacing was $90\times$40cm and the number of plants per a hole was 4 (11112 plant/10a).

  • The present Namgang Dam had been completed in 2000, Salix subfragilis communities began to form in 2003 and their distribution area have been rapidly extended into nine times in 2010. In order to deduce correlation between water level and distribution of Salix subfragilis communities under this background in Namgang-dam reservoir, distribution characteristics and widening direction of Salix subfragilis communities have been analyzed by aerial photographs and water levels has been reviewed, also heights and ages of Salix subfragilis have been surveyed in field. The water levels of Namgang-dam related germination of Salix subfragilis have been analyzed in May and June from 2000 to 2010, mean water level, minimum water level and maximum water level were 37.87m, 36.99m and 38.82m, respectively. The oldest ages were 9-13 years, average diameters of breast height, average heights, average numbers and average crown area were respectively 3.9-8.8cm, 3.8-7.5m, $0.53/m^2$ and $0.98m^2/m^2$ in sites. Therefore, this results showed that the first recruitment of Salix subfragilis was in May 2002 when water levels have been maintained as 38.76-41.31m and the widening of Salix subfragilis communities was in May 2004 and 2005 when mean minimum water levels have been maintained as 38.76-41.31m. Salix subfragilis communities formed climax forest in Namgang-dam shore, this phenomena were different from the succession processes of Salix in rivers appeared landforming by deposition of sediment.
