  • This paper presents a novel automatic white balance (AWB) algorithm for consumer imaging devices. While existing AWB methods require reference white patches to correct color, the proposed method performs the AWB function using only an input image in two steps: i) white point detection, and ii) color constancy gain computation. Based on the dark channel prior assumption, a white point or region can be accurately extracted, because the intensity of a sufficiently bright achromatic region is higher than that of other regions in all color channels. In order to finally correct the color, the proposed method computes color constancy gain values based on the Y component in the XYZ color space. Experimental results show that the proposed method gives better color-corrected images than recent existing methods. Moreover, the proposed method is suitable for real-time implementation, since it does not need a frame memory for iterative optimization. As a result, it can be applied to various consumer imaging devices, including mobile phone cameras, compact digital cameras, and computational cameras with coded color.

  • In this paper, multiheterostructure white organic light-emitting device was fabricated by vacuum evaporation. The structure of white organic light-emitting device is ITO/CuPc/TPD/DPBi:DPA/$Alq_3/Alq_3$:DCJTB/BCT/$Alq_3$/Ca/Al. Three primary colors are implemented with DPVBi, Alq$_3$and DCJTB. The maximum EL wavelength of the fabricated white organic light-emitting device is 647nm. And the CIE coordinate is (0.33, 0.33) at 13 V. In the fabrication of white organic light-emitting devices with DCJTB, $Alq_3$, DPVBi, the EL spectrum has two peaks at 492nm, 647nm. Two peaks appeared because the blue light is combined with green light. The maximum wavelength of red light is not changed with applied voltage. After voltage applied, for the first time, the electrons met the holes in the red emission layer and emitted red light. And then the electrons moved to the green emission layer, and blue emission layer continuously. Finally, when all of the emission layer activated, the white light is emitted.

  • The Imperial Road is Jean Rhys s unfinished manuscript, rejected by publishers for its openly racist tone. Although it describes Rhys s actual visit to Dominica in 1936, it is not a transparent recollection of the travel but a recreation informed by racial dynamics of the 1970s when she wrote the text. This paper examines the manuscript as a troubled (and troubling) response to what Rhys perceived as racial rejection from Dominica at the wake of political independence. Rhys s representation of white Creole womanhood significantly depends on an interwoven configuration of racial dynamics and sexual politics, where an oppressive white European man facilitates a white Creole woman s cross-racial identification with Afro-Caribbeans. However, the political and literary landscape of the West Indies in the 1970s made such cross-racial identification untenable. As a result, The Imperial Road is full of disturbing racial hatred, prejudice, and resentment. And yet, it also reflects Rhys s honest and serious concern over a white Creole s racial identity in postcolonial Dominica, raising a difficult question: How would a postcolonial age change a white Creole identity that belongs neither to the colonized nor to the colonizer (or both)? In The Imperial Road, unable to identify with Afro-Caribbeans, the white Creole is disoriented in time and space, lost at home, stuck between the past and the present, not knowing how to participate in a postcolonial homeland. Through the narrator s racial disorientation, The Imperial Road exposes the white Creole s fundamental dependence on other Creoles.

  • In this paper, we proposed a method to measure the feed intake of cattle using the cattle's gulp downing sounds. To measure the sound of cattle's gulp downing, the recording is performed through a wearable device attached to the cattle's neck. A lot of noises are recorded according to the ranching environment. This paper proposed a method for spectralizing raw gulping sound data containing white noise and removing white noise through the signal transformation using a filter. This allows the feed intake to be measured. Through the proposed white noise reduction method, it was possible to extract only the cattle's gulp downing sound, and through this, the number of cattle's gulp downing could be measured. The proposed method in this paper makes it possible to measure cattle's feed intake easily, so that estrus prediction, health care for cattle, and feed management can be done efficiently.

  • A key technical challenge in TV white spaces is the efficient spectrum usage without interfering with primary users. This paper considers available spectrum discovery scheme using in-band sensing signal to support super Wi-Fi services effectively. The proposed scheme in this paper adopts non-contiguous orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (NC-OFDM) to utilize the fragmented channel in TV white space due to microphones while this channel cannot be used in IEEE 802.11af. The proposed solution is a novel available spectrum discovery scheme by exploiting the advantages of a sensing signaling. The proposed method achieves considerable improvement in throughput and delay time. The proposed method can use more subcarriers for transmission by applying NC-OFDM in contrast with the conventional IEEE 802.11af standard. Moreover, the increased number of wireless microphones (WMs) hardly affects the throughput of the proposed method because our proposal only excludes some subcarriers used by WMs. Additionally, the proposed method can cut discovery time down to under 10 ms because it can find available channels in real time by exchanging sensing signal without interference to the WM.

  • Neutral sizing is required for linerboard to solve the troubles in strength and process caused by recycled raw materials. AKD sizing efficiency can be influenced by process condition like white water quality, fines retention and so on. Therefore, this study was aimed to evaluate sizing performance of general and fast cure type AKDs using process water obtained from linerboard mill. To evaluate effect of process water quality on AKD sizing, white water was diluted with tap water at the different dilution ratios and UKP slurry was sized using the prepared water. Also, effects of inorganic and organic ion material on sizing were examined. When white water was used for stock forming, UKP sheet showed very low sizing degree. Sizing degree of sheet was increased with increase of dilution ratio because water quality was improved. Especially anionic organic material had a greater influence on AKD sizing than inorganic material. When white water quality was deteriorated, fast cure type AKD showed superior sizing performance to general type AKD.

  • In this paper, we propose a measurement method for height of white light scanning interferometer using deep learning. In order to measure the fine surface shape, a three-dimensional surface shape measurement technique is required. A typical example is a white light scanning interferometer. In order to calculate the surface shape from the measurement image of the white light scanning interferometer, the height of each pixel must be calculated. In this paper, we propose a neural network for height calculation and use virtual data generation method to train this neural network. The accuracy was measured by inputting 57 actual data to the neural network which had completed the learning. We propose two new functions for accuracy measurement. We have analyzed the cases where there are many errors among the accuracy calculation values, and it is confirmed that there are many errors when there is no interference fringe or outside the learned range. We confirmed that the proposed neural network works correctly in most cases. We expect better results if we improve the way we generate learning data.
