catalytic combustion is accomplished by the chemical reaction between fuel and oxidizer at the catalyst surface, different from conventional combustion. Therefore, it is important that the fuel and air stream are well mixed and supplied uniformly prior to the combustion region. If the flow is maldistributed, a hot spot may occur that can lead to subsequent catalyst and substrate damage. Therefore, in order to enhance the mixing and flow uniformity, in this study, the perforated plate is used. A numerical simulation is performed to investigate the variation of flow characteristics by changing various parameters. Under each condition, the uniformity of the flow stream at the entrance of the catalyst section is evaluated and compared. The results show that the uniformity can be effectively improved for most of the case by using the well-designed perforated plates.
The Electrocoagulation-Flotation (ECF) process has great potential in wastewater treatment. ECF technology is effective in the removal of colloidal particles, oil-water emulsion, organic pollutants such as microalgae, and heavy metals. Numerous studies have been conducted on ECF; however, many of them used a conventional plate-type aluminum anode. In this study, we determined the effect of changing operational parameters such as power supply time, applied current, NaCl concentration, and pH on the turbidity removal efficiency of kaoline. We also determined the effects of different electrolyte types (NaCl, $MgSO_4$, $CaCl_2$, $Na_2SO_4$, and tap water), as well as the differences caused by using a plate-type and mesh-type aluminum anode, on the turbidity removal efficiency. The results showed that the optimal values of ECF time, applied current, NaCl concentration, and pH were 5 min, 0.35 A, 0.4 g/L NaCl in distilled water, and pH 7, respectively. The results also revealed that the turbidity removal efficiency of kaoline in different electrolytes decreased in the following sequence, given the same conductivity: tap water > $CaCl_2$ > $MgSO_4$ > NaCl > $Na_2SO_4$. The turbidity removal efficiency of the mesh-type aluminum anode was significantly greater than the plate-type aluminum anode.

This paper describes specular reflectance measurements of dielectric plates in three waveguide frequency bands: D-band (110-170 GHz), G-band (140-220 GHz), and J-band (220-325 GHz). The transmit (Tx) part of the proposed specular reflectance measurement system is stationary, while the receive (Rx) part and the material under test (MUT) holder are concentric-rotating with a 2:1 speed ratio for specular reflectance measurements. In specular reflectance measurements, the first step measures the specular reflection coefficients of an MUT and a metal plate on the MUT holder located at the center of the Tx and Rx parts, and the second step calculates the specular reflectance defined by the specular reflection power (i.e., intensity) of the MUT normalized to that of the metal plate. Multiple reflection effects between the Tx and Rx antennas and the MUT on the measured specular reflectance are minimized by averaging out the multiple specular reflectances measured with changing the separation distance between the two antennas by ${\lambda}/8$ intervals. Measurement results of the perpendicular-polarized specular reflectance of commonly used dielectric plates are verified by comparing those with the analytic results and show that the results measured over the overlapped frequency range of the D-/G-bands and at the boundary frequency of the G-/J-bands agree well with the results for the other band, respectively.
Microwatt power level at relatively high voltage(order of volt) was produced by $Bi_{0.5}Sb_{1.5}Te_{3}/Bi_{2}Te_{2.4}Se_{0.6}$ thin film thermoelectric generators, and maximum output power varied with temperature difference in the square-law relation. Output voltage and current were possible to control by changing the way of electrical connection as well as the number of stacking plate-modules. Variation of open circuit voltage and short circuit current with temperature difference showed a linear relationship. There were, however, some differences in variations; open circuit voltage were dependent on the number of plate-module when connected in series, but it was not for parallel connection. On the other hand, short circuit current showed the opposite behavior to the case of open circuit current.

It is important to make a mechanical structure precisely and reasonably in predicting the dynamic characteristics, controlling the vibration, and designing the structure dynamics. In finite element analysis model updating is appropriate as the design parameter is used to analyze the dynamic system. The errors can be contained from the physical parameters and the element modeling. From the dynamic test, more precise dynamic characteristics can be obtained. In this paper, model updating algorithm is developed using frequency difference between experiment and calculation. Modal frequencies are obtained by experiment and finite element analysis for beams with various cross section and shapes which have added masses and holes in the middle. For plates with and without groove, experiment and analyses are carried out by applying free boundary conditions as well. Mass and stiffness matrices are updated by comparing test and analytical modal frequencies. The result shows that the updated frequencies become closer to the test frequencies in case that both matrices are updated. An improved analytical model is obtained by changing model parameters such that the discrepancy between test and finite element frequencies is minimized. For beam and plate models updating of mass and stiffness matrices can improve the dynamical behavior of the model by acting on the physical parameters such as masses and stiffness.
Computer-aided surgery (CAS) started being used for head and neck reconstruction in the late 2000s. Its use represented a paradigm shift, changing the concept of head and neck reconstruction as well as mandible reconstruction. Reconstruction using CAS proceeds through 4 phases: planning, modeling, surgery, and evaluation. Thus, it can overcome a number of trial-and-error issues which may occur in the operative field and reduce surgical time. However, if it is used for oncologic surgery, it is difficult to evaluate tumor margins during tumor surgery, thereby restricting pre-surgical planning. Therefore, it is dangerous to predetermine the resection margins during the presurgical phase and the variability of the resection margins must be taken into consideration. However, it allows for the preparation of a prebending plate and planning of an osteotomy site before an operation, which are of great help. If the current problems are resolved, its applications can be greatly extended.
This study investigated the influence of atmospheric plasma factors such as RF power, treatment time, the gap distance between discharge and sample, and the gas flow rate of Ar on the surface property by using the design of experiment (DOE) method. The plasma treatment time (s), plasma power (W), gap distance (mm) between discharge and sample, and flow rate of Ar gas were in order of important factors for changing the surface free energy of PMMA plates. As a result, the most effective factor for improving the surface free energy of PMMA plates is the distance (mm) from discharge glow to sample plate. Because of the interaction between plasma power (W) and treatment time (s), the power dose (J) factor which multiply plasma power (W) by treatment time (s) should be significantly considered. The optimum condition for maximizing the surface free energy of PMMA plate was found at 1500J of power dose. Through XPS and AFM analysis, we also observed the change of chemical composition, surface morphology and roughness before and after plasma treatment. It is considered that the change of surface free energy of PMMA plate with plasma treatment is influenced by the introduction of polar functional group as well as the increase of surface roughness.

Nano sized ZnO particle as 20-30nm applies for material, pigments, rubber additives, gas sensors, varistors, fluorescent substance as well as new material such as photo-catalyst, sensitizer, fluorescent material. ZnO with a particle size in the range 20-30nm has provided to be an excellent UV blocking material in the cosmetics industry, which can be used in sunscreen product to enhance the sun protection factor and natural makeup effect. But pure ZnO particles application limits for getting worse wearing feeling. We make high-functional inorganic-composite that coated with nano-ZnO on the plate-type particle such as sericite, boron nitride and bismuthoxychloride. In this experiment, we synthesized composite powder using hydrothermal precipitation method. The starting material was ZnCl$_2$ Precipitation materials were used hexamethylenetetramine(HMT) and urea. We make an experiment with changing as synthesis factors that are concentrations of starting material, precipitation materials, nuclear formation material, reaction time, and reaction temperature. We analyzed composite powder's shape, crystallization and UV-blocking ability with FE-SEM, XRD, FT-IR, TGA-DTA, In vitro SPF test. The user test was conducted by product's formulator. In the results of this study, nanometer sized ZnD was coated regardless of the type of plate-powder at fixed condition range. When the coated plate-powders were applied in pressed powder product, the glaze of powder itself decreased, but natural make-up effect, spreadability, and adhesionability were increased.

Combustion characteristics of a KSR-III liquid rocket engine with split-triplet (F-O-O-F) type injector elements are investigated numerically from the viewpoints of engine performance and combustion flowfield. To evaluate numerical analysis of liquid rocket engine with radial type injector arrangement, 2-D axisymmetric and 3-D calculations are carried out and the prediction of engine performance for design and off-design conditions is in a good agreement with hot-firing tests. According to 2-D axisymmetric and 3-D calculations, the prediction error is 3∼5 % from the standpoint of performance. Numerical results of combustion characteristics calculated through 3-D analysis agree well with hot-firing tests qualitatively at injector plate. Decreasing impinging angle and changing radial type injector arrangement to H type injector arrangement reduce effectively local high-temperature region. Also, it is examined that those affect the performance seriously. In conclusion, it is revealed that both injector arrangement and impinging angle are critical parameters to affect the performance and combustion characteristics of the liquid rocket engine.
The research was conducted to analyze workability and fiber distributions of amorphous steel fiber reinforced concrete by changing fiber length and fiber addition ratio. The inverted slump cone and vebe tests as well as slump test was performed to understand the fluidity of amorphous steel fibers which have quite different appearance compared to conventional steel fibers. Test results showed that thin plate type of amorphous steel fibers required different test approach to figure out workability since the reduction of workability from slump test was different that from inverted slump cone and vebe tests. In conclusion, fluidity of amorphous steel fibers to concrete was significantly degraded as fiber length and addition ratio increase. Also, fibers space in cement matrix was apparently reduced as the increase of fiber length and addition ratios without fiber balling.
