As the living standard of citizens are improving and the demand for the quality of life is increasing, the demand for the facilities of welfare and convenience for varied ages rises. Besides, our residential environment is faced with the need for changing into the environment of integrated function of living, which holds health, leisure, culture, education, welfare, etc. Considering the present reality requiring the augment of welfare facilities due to our aging society, community integrated facilities are needed, which can contain welfare service for home-living citizens within residential circle and can accept diverse needs of residents. Accordingly, the study began in order to suggest a better direction for community integrated facilities' plan that considers all age brackets for aging society. The study is to figure out way of thinking what community space of 3 age cluster middle-age in the 30s~40s, preparatory senior citizen in the 50s and old age brackets in the 60s~70s. As methods for attaining the aim of this study, surveys of documents and questionnaire survey were simultaneously used. The result of the study, investigating the importance of a community among the members in the residential complex, showed that all the age groups have highly perceived its importance. All the age groups responded that leisure are important to the elderly. It indicates that importance of their social relations are within the residential environment and it proves that there is lack of facilities for leisure activities of residents in apartment house.

The purpose of this study is to examine present situation of complex community center and to develop complex community center which is considered character of the region. The method of this study was research on internet and interview with public institution by phone about the kind, scale, present situation, complex form of public institution which is situated in Seoul, Busan and Daejeon. The results of the study are as follow : 1) There is the most administration institutions in Seoul and Busan and Daejeon has the most welfare facilities among the public institutions. 2) The scale of public institution is the most buildings of $3{\sim}4$ floors. 3) The institution consisted of one facility is more than 50% in complex form. 4) The complex forms are 21 types of similar facilities and 36 types of different facilities. Therefore, public institutions were attached in Seoul, various types of facilities were not placed in Busan and Daejeon or the number of public institution has been increased continuously, but complex institution considered by social request is difficult to find.
Subsidiary welfare facilities in an apartment complex are one of the most important factors for consumers when they buy an apartment due to an increase of consumers' consciousness level, increase of leisure time, and increase of cultural life. This study aims to analyze layout types and characteristics of subsidiary welfare facilities at the apartment complexes in the second phase new towns, investigate the current situation and find out the improvement direction. For this purpose, this author investigated three "second phase new towns" which were designated as a new town at similar time, and selected a total of 15 apartment complexes by selecting 5 complexes in each of the three new towns. Literature survey, case visit, photo shoot, user observation survey were used as study methods. The results of the study are as follows. First, it was found that a mixed type was the most common type of plane layout types in the subsidiary welfare facilities. This type improves accessibility and equity of the residents as the facilities are appropriately placed based on the functions and the user characteristics. Second, it can be considered that a distributed type for senior citizen centers and daycare centers may give independence to specific users, but it may give a sense of alienation to the elderly. Moreover, it does not have enough community so that it is necessary to make proper supplementation. Third, there were two lay out types. The first one is that the subsidiary welfare facilities are placed with step difference and the second one is that they are placed in sunken places using the underground space. Fourth, all layout types of outdoor facilities are distributed types, and it is considered that measurements for a proper balance of accessibility and equity are required.
The purpose of this study was to gather baseline data to be used for improving housing environments and developing welfare policies for low-income groups by identifying the similarities and differences in housing environmental conditions and in the usages of community welfare services between the dwellers of Da-Ka-Gu rental housing and those of permanent rental apartment. This multifaceted diagnosis currently being undertaken can be utilized through the lowincome housing planning and welfare policies as the basis for future policy formulation. Self-administered questionnaires and interviews were carried out by 212 dwellers in Da-Ka-Gu rental housing (104) and permanent rental apartments (108) in the city of Gwangju from July to October of 2010. The main findings are as follows: 1. The dwellers living in both Da-Ka-Gu rental housing and permanent rental apartments are satisfied with their housing environment. Specifically, a higher satisfaction with transportation and a lower satisfaction with neighbor's inter-relationships were evident. The dwellers of Da-Ka-Gu rental housing appear to be more satisfied with community spaces and housing management than those of the permanent rental apartments, whereas the latter appear to be less satisfied with the noise of the housing complex than the former. 2. Of the community welfare service programs, a higher usage is shown for meals service, free health screenings, home repair, and after-school learning programs among all residents in the two housing types. In particular, for the residents of Da-Ka-Gu rental housing, the children's education and parent education programs are more popular, whereas for those of the permanent rental apartments, the housekeeping services and health services utilization are highest.
This study examined the factors affecting the loneliness of elderly in urban-rural complex area in Busan including personnel factors, health factors, and social factors. To examine the factors affecting the loneliness, 138 older adults, who are 65 years and over, residing Ki Jang in Busan, were interviewed through trained researchers. This study's results include the following. First, the result indicated that means score of loneliness among respondents was 50.6(SD 4.2). Secondly the factors affecting on the loneliness of elderly in urban-rural complex area were life satisfaction of personnel factors, level of activity of daily living of health factors, and social support(emotional and instrumental support) and level of social activity of social factors. So perspective of service of elderly have to expend for diminution of emotional and interpersonal problems. And social welfare service is need to modify and amend for variety policies. This study suggest that further research need in order to reduce loneliness of elderly.
This study aims to propose the improvement direction of spatial organization of orphanage facilities by reflecting the international trend of child welfare facilities including 'enhancement of habitability', 'opening to the local community' and 'multi-functionality' on the basis of ideas of 'right of housing' and 'normalization'. Orphanage facilities are evolving from 'facilities' to accommodate unfortunate children to the concept of the 'community-care', and the residential space is also rapidly shifting to 'cottage' type resembling a residential type of ordinary family so as to enhance the self-esteem and relationship. To suggest the future-oriented changeability of current orphanage facilities, the present study conducted a nationwide survey of child welfare facilities and four Visiting researches of cottage type orphanage with different locations to investigate the appropriateness of housing type, organization of common use space, mode of management and facilities criteria. The results of this study are following: 1) For enhancement of habitability it is suggested that cottage type with various plans in the form of ordinary housing is appropriate, that the number of children per cottage is six or so, and that the number of less than two or three children per room is recommended. At the same time the adjustment of facilities criteria, simplified or complex, is suggested to support a similar residence pattern to ordinary home. 2) Specialized programs must be introduced to establish a base of welfare-network for community children according to features of location and a complex management must be sought in the connection with neighboring public facilities. 3) To secure the residential environment and quality of life for children, the concept of a simple playground space by the current facilities criteria must be broken away to reinforce the network of various outdoor spaces closely connected with living space.

As the population of olds increases, the number of old people with capability increases, and they actively participate to social works with interests in healthy life and leisures. Therefore the demand rises to expand social facilities to support their spare time, while there are limitation, such as land, financial state, to build such facilities. In case of Japan, a solution of such problem occurs by compounding Social facilities for Old people and local facilities in practical and finacial aspect of the selection of site and managing the facilities and social aspect of supporting oppotunities to use various facilities. Such community based complex facilities supports services depending on the health state of Old people locally residing and increases the communication between different generation. The purpose of this research is aimed to analyze programs and space organization of advanced facilities in Japan and provide basical data for planning complex facilities for old people in Korea.
After 2004, as the community mixed-support facility in Japan was admitted as a private business of public facilities based on the Special Law for Urban Regeneration, the community mixed-support facilities in Japan are developed into various types with the view of the urban regeneration and urban renewal, more different point of view, and a tendency of establishment of the community facility has been considerably changed for the past twenty years. The reasons of the change are the social demand for the reformation of facility and the modification of subsidy constitution according to the establishment of equal facility. Some examples of that are the construction of lifelong education community and the change into a equivalent society between male and female and the adjusting to the aging and the welfare society and the social situation of more consumption recently, and in order to emerge from former building system, new facilities related to the contents are being expanded. The complex of the community mixed-support facility has an advantage in that it supplies the services for the complex of the community mixed-support facility, constitutes the communal character and the sense of solidarity among residents and can lead the development of region through the exchange of regional information. Through the Japanese community mixed-support facility which has many cases of it, this study would recognize the suggestion, the feature of it and examine the complex types.

This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of different copper sources (inorganic and organic) on the growth performance, fecal copper excretion, intestinal morphology, and health in growing pigs. A total of 40 growing pigs (30.22 ± 1.92 kg) were randomly assigned to 5 dietary treatments: a basal control diet (CON), 4 experimental diets supplemented with either copper sulfate (CuSO4), Cu-glycine complex (CuGly), Cu-amino acid complex (CuAA), or Cu-hydroxy-4-methylthio butanoate chelate complex (CuHMB) at 100 ppm, respectively. At the end of the study (28 days), fecal and blood samples were collected, and the pigs were slaughtered to determine the intestinal morphology. During the 28 days of the experimental period, pigs fed the inorganic and organic copper showed a higher average daily gain (p < 0.01) and gain feed ratio (p < 0.01). There were no differences in mineral concentrations of the serum; however, the copper concentration of the feces was lower (p < 0.01) in the CuAA and CuHMB groups. The intestinal morphology and blood profiles did not significantly differ between the groups. In conclusion, the organic copper sources (CuAA and CuHMB) can be used as a growth promoter to replace the CuSO4 without any negative effects on health in growing pigs and to reduce fecal copper excretion.

Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is an important cause of occupational mortality in miners exposed to coal mine dust. Although the inflammatory mediators involved in COPD have not been defined, many studies have shown that inflammatory mediators such as reactive oxygen and nitrogen species are involved in orchestrating the complex inflammatory process in COPD. Methods: To investigate the relevance of exhaled biomarkers of oxidative and nitrosative stress in participants with COPD, we determined the levels of hydrogen peroxide, malondialdehyde (MDA), and 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) in 90 retired elderly coal miners (53 non-COPD and 37 COPD participants). Results: Mean levels of MDA (4.64 nMvs. 6.46 nM, p = 0.005) and 3-NT (3.51 nMvs. 5.50 nM, p = 0.039) in EBC were significantly higher in participants with COPD. The median level of MDA did show statistical difference among the COPD severities (p = 0.017), and the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve forMDA (0.67) for the diagnostic discrimination of COPD indicated the biomarker. The optimal cutoff values were 5.34 nM (64.9% sensitivity and 64.2% specificity) and 5.58 nM (62.2% sensitivity and 62.3% specificity) forMDA and 3-NT, respectively. The results suggest that high levels ofMDA and 3-NT in EBC are associated with COPD in retired elderly miners. Conclusion: These results showed that the elevated levels of EBC MDA and EBC 3-NT in individuals with COPD are biomarkers of oxidative or nitrosative stress.
