상 변태를 고려한 HY-100강 용접부의 수축 및 잔류응력 예측에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Prediction of Shrinkage and Residual Stress for the HY-100 Weldment Considering the Phase Transformation)

  • For high performance and structural stability, application of high strength steel has continuously increased. However, the change of the base metal gives rise to problems with the accuracy management of the welded structure. It is attributed to the martensite phase transformation of the high strength low alloy steel weldment. The purpose of this study is to establish the predictive equation of transverse shrinkage and residual stress for the HY-100 weldment. In order to do it, high speed quenching dilatometer tests were performed to define a coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE) at the heating and cooling stage of HY-100 with various cooling rates. Uncoupled thermal-mechanical finite element(FE) models with CTE were proposed to evaluate the effect of the martensite phase transformation on transverse shrinkage and residual stresses at the weldment. FEA results were verified by comparing with experimental results. Based on the results of extensive FEA and experiments, the predictive equation of transverse shrinkage and longitudinal shrinkage force at the HY-100 weldment were formulated as the function of welding heat input/in-plane rigidity and welding heat input respectively.

고강도강재의 고온인장특성 및 용접시 잔류응력특징에 관한 연구 (A Study on the High Temperature Tensile Property and the Characteristics of Residual Stress in Welds of High Strength Steels)

  • In this study, high temperature tensile properties of high strength steels(POSTEN60, POSTEN80) were investigated. The three-dimensional thermal elastic-plastic analyses were conducted to investigate the characteristics of welding residual stresses in welds of high strength steels on the basis of thermal and mechanical properites at high temperature obtained from the experiment. According to the results, high temperature tensile strength of POSTEN60 steel deteriorated slowly to 10$0^{\circ}C$. As the temperature went up, the tensile strength became better because of blue shortness, and it deteriorated radically after reaching to the maximum value around 30$0^{\circ}C$. For the POSTEN80 steel, high temperature tensile strength deteriorated slowly to 20$0^{\circ}C$. As the temperature went up the tensile strength became better and it deteriorated slowly to $600^{\circ}C$ after reached to the maximum value around 30$0^{\circ}C$. Strain of high strength steels at the elevated temperature increased radically after the mercury rose to $600^{\circ}C$. The strain hardening ratio of POSTEN60 steel was larger then that of POSTEN80 steel at the elevated temperature as in the case at the room temperature and it became smaller radically after the mercury rose to 40$0^{\circ}C$.   • When the vehicle travels in an actual road, resistance spot weldments of the vehicle structure are exposed to complex loading state. Since the fatigue strength in resistance spot weldment of vehicle body can be determined by effect of residual stresses and loading state of driving, estimating actual loading state and considering residual stress effect are needed. In this study, Fatigue stress-fatigue life relation concerned residual stress effect was obtained by thermo elastic plastic finite element analysis. And applied loading in resistance spot weldments of vehicle body was calculated by dynamic analysis. Presumption of fatigue life was performed using proposed method

溶接이음부 形狀變化에 따른 後熱處理時의 力學的 特性에 關한 硏究 (A Study on the Mechanical Characteristics by the Change of Bevel Angle of Welding Joint During PWHT)

  • In order to define the effects on shapes of welding joint, during Post Welding Heat Treatment (PWHT), we have carried out numerical analysis on the several test pieces by using computer program which was based on thermal-elasto-plastic-creep theories for the study. And then, welding residual stresses after PWHT were measured same test-pieces to compare with the results of numerical analysis. The main results obtained from this study is as follows: 1) The distribution modes of welding residual stresses are same on the all test pieces after and during PWHT by the both sides (measurement and numerical analysis). 2) The mechanical difference for change the thickness of plate and bevel angle are not appeared. 3) In a mechanical point of view (like material quality test, welding deformation etc.), manimum bevel angle (40$^{\circ}$.) is more suitable than maximum bevel angle (70$^{\circ}$).

  • To obtain representative fatigue crack growth characteristic curve in residual stress field, fatigue crack growth test was carried out at various stress ratio and fatigue crack growth characteristic curve was represented using crack closure concept. Obtained results are as follows;K(sub)op/K(sub)max was independent of K(sub)max when R was lower than 0.5 and crack closure phenomenon was not observed when R is higher than 0.5. therefore neglecting crack closure behaviour, actual fatigue crack growth rate can be underestimated. Thus, considering crack closure phenomenon, fatigue crack growth characteristics curve of A 106 Gr B Steel weldment can be effectively estimated.

  • In this study, a series of fatigue tests are carried out in order to estimate quantitatively the characteristics of fatigue crack growth rate for high strength steels of SM570, POSTEN60, and POSTEN80 steel, that is, the influence on fatigue crack growth rate according to the welding line, the characteristics of fatigue crack growth according to the welding method and the kinds of steel, and the characteristics of fatigue crack growth for base metal, heat affected zone and weld metal. From the test results, in case that the notch if parallel to welding line, it knows that the retardations of fatigue crack growth rate in crack tip at early stage increase remarkably than in case that the notch is perpendicular to welding line due to compressive residual stress. And the characteristics of fatigue crack growth rate according to welding method are that the dispersion of fatigue crack growth rate in case of FCAW method is smaller than that of SAW method. Also, it knows that the fatigue crack growth rate converges in high stress intensity factor range.

  • In this study, to verify the reliability of the indentation for measuring welding residual stresses to get in method we compared the results of the method with those measured by the saw cutting method. Also for the same purpose we used a 4-point bending test and confirmed the reliability of indentation method. The specimens used in this experiment are made with the same conditions for hot reheater pipes and cold reheater pipes used in the electric power plant. Therefore we could know that the results of the methods showed the reliability of the method to obtain welding residual stresses.

유한요소해석을 이용한 다층 FCA 맞대기 용접부의 횡 방향 잔류응력 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Evaluation of Transverse Residual Stress at the Multi-pass FCA Butt Weldment using FEA)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the residual stresses at the multi-pass FCA weldment using the finite element analysis (FEA). In order to do it, an H-type specimen was selected as a test specimen. The variable used was in-plane restraint intensity. The temperature distribution at the multi-pass FCA butt weldment was evaluated in accordance with the relevant guidance recommended by the KWJS. The effective conductivity for the weld metal corresponding to each welding pass was introduced to control the maximum temperature below the vaporization temperature of weld metal. The heat flux caused by welding arc was assumed to be applied to the weld metal corresponding to welding pass. With heat transfer analysis results, the distribution of transverse residual stresses was evaluated using the thermo-mechanical analysis and compared with the measured results by XRD and uniaxial strain gage. In thermo-mechanical analysis, the plastic strain resetting at the temperature above melting temperature of $1450^{\circ}C$ was considered and the weld metal and base metal was assumed to be bilinear kinematics hardening continuum. According to the comparison between FEA and experiment, transverse residual stresses at the multi-pass FCA butt weldment obtained by FEA had a good agreement with the measured results, regardless of in-plane rigidity. Based on the results, it was concluded that thermo-mechanical FE analysis based on temperature distribution calculated in accordance with the KWJS’s guidance could be used as a tool to predict the distribution of residual stress of the multi-pass FCA butt weldment.

  • Residual stresses and deformations due to welding have effects on the strength of structures. In this paper, the compressive strength of basic welded structures is studied and the effects of the residual stresses and deformations on the compressive strength of beams, plates and shells are investigated,. Theoretical analysis for the basic structures is carried out and simplified methods to calculate the compressive strength are proposed. The proposed methods yield simple formulas to calculate the compressive strength, of which results are much helpful. The accuracy of the proposed method is revealed by comparison with experimental results.
