  • The purpose of this study is to reduced the weight of ladder boom and to improve the manufactor process by the section modification. The Conventional model consists of integral section stiffener, while the proposed model consists of truss type stiffener to reduce the weight of ladder boom and wind effector. In the two analysis models, one is based on the single boom, and the other is based in the coupling model of two booms. We present the analysis results for the case when applying the weight, bending and twisting moment and wind pressure. Finally, a comparison between these results is presented to show the performance of our method.

  • The demand of JIB crane to handle a container or a bulk in a vessel is increasingly because of the growth of the scale of trade through the sea. This deck crane such as JIB crane is required the weight reduction design because it is installed in the deck of a vessel due to the environment regulation. In this study first we carry out the structural analysis of JIB with respect to the luffing angle of it to calculate the maximum equivalent stress of JIB, and next the optimum design for the weight reduction design of JIB. The thickness in a cross section of JIB is adopted as the design variable, the weight of JIB as the objective function, and the von mises stress as the constraint condition for the optimum design of JIB using the ANSYS 10.0.

  • The possibility of weight reduction of rotor part in gas-gas geater(GGH) is studied from the viewpoint of allowable stress. In this work, finite element analysis(FEA) is performed with original model and three weight-reduced models with different diaphragm thickness, respectively. Stress concentrations at rotor diaphragm happen due to the dead weight, pressure difference between treated gas and untreated gas and thermal distribution in the rotor. As the thickness of diaphragm is decreased, the stress level is increased. The direction of treated gas and untreated gas flow may affect the stress level. Fatigue life assessment is not considered because pressure difference, the only cyclic load, can be ignored. The possible weight-reduced model is presented.

  • Mold platen are one of the most important structural components of the injection molding machine. Mold platen had been designed, and manufactured based on the experience and the method of trial and error. Recently, as the computer progress, the numerical simulation method using commercial finite element analysis code has been used to analyze the characteristics of components. It's a urgent problem to reduce the weight of mold platen while preserving the safety and reliability for the structual failure. Finite element analyses to establish basic design technologies and reducing the weight of mold platen were carried out. As result, we are obtained the about 10% reducing the weight for mold platen.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and narcissism on body stress. Questionnaires are being administered to 206 women in their 20's-50's living in Deagu and Kyunbook province. The Frequency, factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, ANOVA, and Duncan-test are used for data analysis. Sociocultural attitudes toward appearance are categorized into media appearance internalization and social recognition of appearance. Narcissism factors are found to be leadership/privilege, ostentation, and superiority. Body stress is categorized into 4 factors: weight stress, skin aging stress, body dissatisfaction, and hair stress. Sociocultural attitudes toward appearance was related to the sub-variables of narcissism, and body stress. Media appearance internalization is the sun-variable of sociocultural attitudes toward appearance and has significant effects on weight stress, skin aging stress, and body dissatisfaction sub-variables for body stress. Ostentation, and superiority being the sub-variables of narcissism, have significant effects on weight stress, skin aging stress, body dissatisfaction, and hair stress, the sub-variables for body stress. Ages of women display distinctions between the sub-variables in sociocultural attitudes toward appearance such media appearance internalization, and in narcissism such leadership/privilege, ostentation, superiority, and body stress such weight stress, skin aging stress, body dissatisfaction, and hair stress. This result can be a necessary base line data for adult women's appearance management by examining the influence of the attitude toward the appearance developed from the relationship with people around body stress.

  • In this experiment, gene actions were analysized for seven barley parents in order to obtain basic information on their genetic improvement by diallel crosses. The results obtained were summarized as follows. In analysis of variance, additive, dominant, maternal and reciprocal effects were observed significantly for culm length, tiller number, number of spiked per plant, culm diameter, awn length, leaf width, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight. Over-dominance was shown by Vr-Wr graphic analysis in five characters such as tiller number, number of spikes per plant, length of flag leaf, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight, and partial dominance in four characters such as culm length, culm diameter, awn length, and leaf width. Component of genetic varience analyzed for four characters such as culm diameter, awn length, length of flag leaf, and leaf width showed that additive effects were higher than dominant effects. Culm length, tiller number, number of spikes per plant, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight showed dominant effects higher than additive effects. The narrow-sense heritability for awn length, leaf width, and number of grains per spike showed high values as more than 0.62, while broad-sense heritability for culm length, number of spikes per plant, culm diameter, awn length, leaf width, number of grains per spike, and 1000 grain weight showed high values as more than 0.65.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of weight with gentamicin assay error on the Bayesian and nonlinear least squares regression analysis in 12 Korean appen dicitis patients. Gentamicin was administered intravenously over 0.5 h every 8 h. Three specimens were collected at 48 h after the first dose from all patients at the following times, just before regularly scheduled infusion, at 0.5 h and 2 h after the end of 0.5 h infusion. Serum gentamicin levels were analyzed by fluorescence polarization immunoassay technique with TDxFLx. The standard deviation (SD) of the assay over its working range had been determined at the serum gentamicin concentrations of 0, 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 ${\mu}g$/mL in quadruplicate. The polynominal equation of gentamicin assay error was found to be SD (${\mu}g$/mL) = 0.0246-(0.0495C)+ (0.00203C$^2$). There were differences in the influence of weight with gentamicin assay error on pharmacokinetic parameters of gentamicin using the nonlinear least squares regression analysis but there were no differences on the Bayesian analysis. This polynominal equation can be used to improve the precision of fitting of pharmacokinetic models to optimize the process of model simulation both for population and for individualized pharmacokinetic models. The result would be improved dosage regimens and better, safer care of patients receiving gentamicin.

  • Background: The wall squat exercise has been recommended for strengthening of the lower extremity muscles with maintaining lumbar lordosis. Although squat has been studied to be related to lower extremity extensor strength, the relationship between wall squat and lower extremity extensor strength unclear. Because squat and wall squat are biomechanically different, study on the relationship is needed. Objects: The purpose of this study was to determine the lower extremity extensor strength associated with wall squat performance. Methods: 74 healthy volunteers were recruited to participate in this study. The volunteers were measured hip and knee extensors strength and then performed wall squat exercise for maximum count. Results: We found significant relationships between wall squat performance and hip extensor strength normalized by body weight, knee extensor strength normalized by body weight and the composite value. In a regression analysis, hip extensor strength normalized by body weight explained 29% of the variation in wall squat performance in males and 35% in females. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that hip extensor strength normalized by body weight is critical to wall squat performance in both sexes.
