  • Today many owners of Web sites are looking to user's satisfaction survey as a key means of measuring the usability of a Web site. While it is preferred for it simplicity and ease of use, this survey method is not without potential risks. This paper focuses on showing that the existing practice of questionnaire-based usability measurement is subject to human recall errors, and that such flaws can be reduced when the questionnaire survey is followed by the users hands-on experience of the site. An empirical study was conducted, and the results indicate that the above speculation holds true. Even if respondents felt highly confident about their responses on a recall survey, a hands-on experience with a focal Web site increased the extent to which the respondents were satisfied with the shopping mall site. This indicates that a user's perception of the quality of a Web site may be distorted or lost as time goes by. In addition, the findings have shown that the use of the verbal protocol analysis method can reveal critical information that can help track the root causes of Web site usability problems, thereby helping to develop site enhancement strategies. The paper concludes with directions for future research.

  • Purpose: This descriptive survey was undertaken to find out the offering types of Physical Examination and Health Assessment course, student's ability to utilize web-based multimedia, and the basic knowledge on physical examination and health assessment in students attending baccalaureate(BSN) and associate degree(AD) programs in nursing, RN-BSN completion programs, and medical school. Method: 77 nursing programs in Korea were surveyed for the information on Physical Examination and Health Assessment courses, and the basic knowledge were tested on 169 nursing and medical students. Results: Majority of BSN(90.69%) and AD(85.29%) programs were offering Physical Examination and Health Assessment courses in students's sophomore years. Majority(95.58%) of programs were using face to face teaching method where as only 4.41% were using web-based multimedia programs. Basic knowledge on Physical Examination and Health Assessment were highest among students in medial school(14.04%) and RN-BSN(13.15%) compared to BSN(8.96%) or AD(8.06%) program. Conclusion: Web-based multimedia contents on Physical Examination and Health Assessment should be developed and should be integrated into the nursing curriculum.

  • In this paper we develop the web-based unified randomized response system for obtaining more reliable response to the sensitive characteristic such as a crime of violence at home, and a bribing and so on. This survey system embody to apply with from the classical to recently research, for example from the Warner's model to the 2-stage model. In addition, our survey system is able to link between the typical and the randomized response system. Finally, our survey system looks into a variation according to various sensitive questions as well as it can be used for a single question.

  • The current information system audit merely inspects a web based information system by focusing on checking items that are extracted from structured and information engineering model and object-oriented component model. As a result, the checking item of web contents and design is inadequate. This paper aims to extract audit framework in order to strengthen the audit of web contents and design during the development of the web based information system and to suggest checking items based on audit framework. For this, the web development process and web site evaluation model were studied, compared, and analyzed with the current information system development audit. From a result of the survey, it was found that the adequacy of the suggested audit framework and audit checking items is above the average value. It is believed that the suggested audit framework is helpful for the audit of web based information system.

  • In this study, I would like to suggest a new model of web navigation design which can enhance old-aged users web usability. I would like to prove that when users enjoy web navigation design, older-users access information much more effectively. Using a survey, suggest some types of web navigation designed for old-aged users. After that, based on the result of the prepatory survey, I conducted an experiment with 4 types of web navigation designs, which have been developed to reflect varying stages of comprehensibility. My survey focused three points. First I tested whether they lost their way while searching for information. Secondly, if they did lose their way, I checked whether they could recover from their errors and find their way back. Thirdly, I investigated whether layout, location and size of the web navigation design factors affected usability. The results of my survey indicated that old-aged users spend the shortest time, have the easiest interface, and have least error incidence under the web navigation design to enhance old-aged users web usability. Thus, developing a web navigation design for old-aged users can encourage older people to be more involved with the internet, especially in the aging society.

  • The 7th education curriculum requires for the aggressive collection and reflection of demands of students, teachers, parents, and local community, necessary for the school operation. In this regard, this study attempts to design and establish the web questionnaire system for the effective school operation. Web-based Survey system, presented in this study, is designed by being divided into administrator(investigator) and respondents, and administrator can manage questionnaires and identify the results by just connecting Internet. In addition, it is designed to do question drawing and statistics in real time within the system without the separate program, by providing file database related to the questions. This system makes the questionnaire survey of school unit easy and fast by being used as a menu in the homepage of school and operated as a single system.

  • The purpose of this research is to summarize the methodological issues in internet survey and to suggest personalized internet survey system using data mining technique for enhancing the survey quality of internet survey as well as utilizing the benefit of interactive multimedia factors of internet survey. The data mining technique used in this paper is Case Based Reasoning for adopting individual design preference affecting survey quality. For achieving the research purpose, two surveys, pre & post survey, were performed. Pre survey was done for implementing CBR database to find individual index affecting survey quality and post survey was used for measuring the peformance of personalized internet survey system. The result shows that the survey quality of personalized web survey system is better than generalized web survey system.

  • This study reviews and modifies general IS success models to find success factors of WIS(Web-based Information Systems) and to confirm the relationship between WIS success and user's satisfaction of web use. A WISSM(Web-based Information Success Model extended to include EQ(E-Quality) is developed to anticipate user's intention to use Web-based Agricultural Information System and fit into the survey data from 252 WIS users of RDA(Rural Development Administration). PLS is applied to estimate a structural model based on EQ-WISSM to test hypotheses including 1) users reach a high level of intention to use Web-based Information Systems when they feel a high level of interactivity among an 'E-Quality', 'Decision Making Support Satisfaction' and 'Task Support Satisfaction', and E-Quality boosts intention to use Web-based Information Systems. The results show high path coefficients and $R^2$ values and find followings; First, the EQ-WISSM explains the user's intention to use WAIS quite well. Second, E-Quality can be used well in web-based IS environment to predict IS Success. Finally, this research finds the importance of 'Task Support Satisfaction' as a mediator between 'Decision Making Support Satisfaction', 'E-Quality' and 'Intention to Use'.

  • The purposes of this study are to evaluate the navigability of three web-based mapping applications and to suggest how to improve the navigability of all web-based mapping applications. With these purposes, this study conducted a web-based survey congruent with a think aloud and systematic observation for individual participants, followed up by a focus group with all participants. Based on the findings, recommendations are proposed for web-based mapping applications that include a standard click and drag panning function in mapping applications, a scaled zooming option, increased text for icons and buttons, and other potential changes to computer hardware for increased navigability in these applications. By improving the navigability of web-based mapping applications, the learning time may be reduced for each application and the speed at which users' geographic information needs are met will be quicker.
