People tend to resist changing their software even alternatives are better then the current one. This study examines the resistance to change in the use of software from the switching costs perspective based on status quo bias theory. For this study, we select Web Browsers as software. Based on the classification of switching costs into three groups (psychological, procedural, and loss), this study identifies six types of switching costs (uncertainty, commitment, learning, setup, lost performance, and sunk costs). This study tests the effects of six switching costs on user resistance to change based on the survey of 204 web browser users. The results indicate that lost performance costs and emotional costs have significant effects on user resistance to change. This research contributes towards understanding of switching costs and the effects on user resistance to change. This study also offers suggestions to software vendors for retaining their users and to organizations for managing user resistance in switching and adopting software.
This study describes the design and implementation of web based collaborative learning system to improve interactivity among learners. Based on suggestions from previous studies, the system is composed of three main parts : the community module, the learning module, and the administrative module. The study participants were 254 university students from two different institutions. They were divided into 43 groups and asked to complete an online TOEIC preparation module using the learning system over 4 weeks. Survey data were collected at three points from each participant-before and 3 weeks after the beginning of the online module and at the completion of the module. The result indicates that the usage of this system is positively related to the learners' collaborative learning activities, the level of sense of community, and learner satisfaction both at the individual and group levels.
A well-designed website is mandatory for good marketing and proper tourism business. This research considers Nepal as a domain of study and specifically explores welcomenepal.com, the official tourism portal as a reference for the study. The work is based on the study of the existing literature, user-survey, and technical testing of the website using open-source testing tools to identify user perspective, design issues, website architecture and design quality of the tourism website. A population size of 400 respondents, which consist of both domestic and international tourist, are considered for the survey. Data is received from 360 respondents, which is analyzed using statistical tests like Cronbach's alpha, Pearson's correlation, cross-tabulations, bars charts and graphs to draw inferences and consclusion. The software-based test results serve as another important parameter for the evaluation of the current official website. This study brings out core needs of the tourist in terms of expectations from a tourism website and access technical quality of the current portal to provide necessary feedback and suggestions. The government officials, business houses, and web designers can utilize this work as a knowledge base to build tourism websites, which are user-centric. Further, the work is specifically important for Nepal government and tourism officials to identify shortcomings in their current website and make improvements for better design and user adaptability in future.
This study was for applying web based street fashion design analysis system(web-SFAS), which was designed in preceding research and realized, to a practical use. Web-SFAS was developed to analyze data fast, accurately, conveniently, and to provide them to related fields by using Information Technology (IT) in fashion design industry. By inputting, sorting and analyzing actual image data into this system, it purposes to check if it needs to be corrected and to verify its operation and application. This study was collected in 2004 s/s 177 points image data and survey results input to the system This system analyzed the results as follow ; First, in all four areas of S/S, many people wear soft materials and plain T-shirts on top and tough material and plain jeans on the bottom. Second, In the case of dresses, in many areas people wear tough fabric plain A-line, one-piece dresses but in Hapsung-dong, many people wear geometrical figures. Third, fashion image, most people wear a sportive casual style with semi casual in a close second. Therefore, web-SFAS can be useful system analyzing for the trendy apparel type, design, material, color, image and variable in demography through street fashion image data.
Objective: This study aims to survey visual search performance models to assess and predict individual's visual tasks in everyday life and industrial sites. Background: Visual search is one of the most frequently performed and critical activities in everyday life and works. Visual search performance models are needed when designing or assessing the visual tasks. Method: This study was mainly based on survey of literatures related to ergonomics relevant journals and web surfing. In the survey, the keywords of visual search, visual search performance, visual search model, etc. were used. Results: On the basis of the purposes, developing methods and results of the models, this study categorized visual search performance models into six groups: probability-based models, SATO models, visual lobe-based models, computer vision models, neutral network-based models and detection time models. Major models by the categories were presented with their advantages and disadvantages. More models adopted the accuracy among two factors of accuracy and speed characterizing visual tasks as dependent variables. Conclusion: This study reviewed and summarized various visual search performance models. Application: The results would be used as a reference or tool when assessing the visual tasks.

This study was performed to investigate the eating habit, body image, and weight control behavior by BMI in Korean female high school students. Data on the 16,574 subjects was obtained from the sixth Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2010). Only 52.2% of the subjects had regular breakfast. The rate of skipping breakfast was higher in the underweight group than in the obese group, but the rate of skipping dinner was on the contrary to this.
